thanks, yes hopefully will supply patches, my little one hated the sticky patches and I bought her cloth pirate ones from the us she loved them and it was much easier getting her to wear them.

We couldn't get on with the sticky ones. Ds cried and cried. Very quickly ordered a cloth one from Canada. Brilliant. Ds has loved wearing his patch ever since. He actually quite likes the attention !!!!

I have ordered two cloth patches, both from Canada. One ds liked and the other not. Will find the websites and get back to you.

My son was patched form the age of 4.5 - 6.5.
He started wearing glasses at 4.25. His patches were the regular plaster type.
Any problems, apart from him refusing to wear it? What helped? Huge rewards.Me getting cross, begging Dh wearingone, star chart, more rewards. When we came home from the hostpital with the patches I felt very alone - it would have been good to have another parent who'd patched to talk to.Some Mums did come up to me on the playground, at swimming, etc to give encouragemnet, so I guess they must have felt the same. I tink it's probably the hardest thing I've done in my life. And now we've finished, I just hope we did it for long enough.

Oblomov · 09/04/2007 23:07

  7. Any problems with patching? not really. Didn't like sticky patches. Once got cloth ones, no problem.
  8. What helped with patching? Making a big thing of it, nursery were brilliant - stickers and praise.
  9. What would be useful to support patching?
Cloth company in the UK, instead of having to order from US or Canada. Mind you, should be free from the hospital - especially in this day and age !

Sorry to hear you were so alone chocolateface.
I got great support from mumsnet. Was your ds patching a long time ago ?

chocolateface · 09/04/2007 23:26

It's 3 1/2 years since we started patching, and I hadn't discovered MN then. I did search the internet, but found nothing usefull. Recently came across a couple of US sites selling cool patches. It's still something close to my heart, as were not sure if DD will need to be patched.
