Does Everyone Have a Long List of Weirdo Minor Problems? Or is it just me?

I get:

  • labyrinthitis, after a head cold
  • tracheitis, sometimes, no idea why
  • knee problems
  • foot problems
  • chronic excema, on hands and feet, very minor but itchy
  • minor asthma
  • very weird skin and mouth thrush, but only when pg

Is this just what getting older is like, you have a long list of strange larely untreatable illnesses that annoy you all the time?

Apaprently so- the list BIBIC use (britsish institute for brain injured children, ds 1 and 3 attend there, very big on nutrition) includes skin problems, dark shadows under the eyes, tiredness, specific food cravings (the nutritionist told me, if you cravce something always eliminate that first), sleep problems, mood swings.... any of the above worth a go apaprenlty, 3 weeks is enough to see if it works. It does with me, I have not got the will power, but has amade a difference to ds1.

I am going to try giving up wheat and see what happens.

The symptoms for a wheat thing are pretty vague though, but it's worth a try I reckon

I think all the excema we have is due to the fact we don't have normal infestations of lice, yaws, etc etc. I think it's normal for human (and animal) immune systems to always be fighting off various hitchikers. And lack of these causes asthma, excema, allergies etc etc.

I was born with no ligaments in the joints connecting my collar bone to my sternum. So my clavicle pops in and out all the time ...

Oooooer missus!

hippipotami · 04/04/2007 11:04

Gosh, reading down that list it seems we are all falling apart!!

My list of ailments goes like this:
Allergic to cats (but no other animal)
Sinus pain but only around left side of nose
Psoriasis
Clicky jaws which have been known to lock
Occasional heel spurs
Very sore right hip
Migraines (mostly around and above left eye)
Tension headaches, clenched jaws and stiff neck
Depression and anxiety
Unexplained upper body rash which comes up once only, always in the spring and lasts 2 weeks
Frequent coughs and sore troats - tendency to get tonsillitis

Wow, am obviously in fantastic health!!

NQC...there was a really interesting programme yonks ago, and they did also say that the allergies/asthma/eczema probs we have are connected with that...and I wold agree....one scientist always had bad problems wiht hayfever, but after he infested himself wiht some kind of worm...the hayfever was gone...they also showed a connection of raises in allergies, etc....in 3. world countrys where they are now dewormed, etc....
so, maybe one day they will be able to devellope something as a cure, that gives our body the work it needs, without us having to carry some yukki ickys, eh!

expatinengland · 04/04/2007 11:34

expatinscotland...I had wicked carpel tunnel too and horrible thumb pain...they told me it would sort itself, but had nothing to do with pregnancy, but I know it DID...Anyway got so bad I almost couldn't pick up DD and bear weight on it....GP insinuated I didn't want to care for DD, and told me there was nothing medically that could be done...what rubbish talk

Anyway, I had no choice but to get referral and go private...Had surgery and it's completely better, and private Dr. (who also works for NHS) said it was 100% caused by swelling and loosening of ligaments during pregnancy (I just knew this) that didn't go back the way they were before.

It's great now...sounds like yours isn't that bad, but if you have to take care of it...just know you can..if it gets really bad. Maybe you can convince your GP to do something for you.

Too bad I can't sort my sinus issues...I sound like a bloke talking about half the time

CloudCuckooLand · 04/04/2007 11:45

ooh how did I miss this thread earlier

  • painful joints on occasion (all due to bad SPD in pregnancy over 5 years ago)
  • persistent sinus problems
  • skin rashes that aren't bad enough to worry the GP but still very annoying
  • hayfever and an allergy to grass that makes me feel really woozy (?!)
  • my hands/wrists have never been as strong as they used to be due to carpal tunnel in pregnancy
  • clicky joints (v weird, I sound like an old woman)
  • tummy troubles - lots of nausea, sensitivity, can't eat as rich or spicy food as I used to
meowmix · 04/04/2007 11:53

lets see

  • the 4th toe on my left foot hurts unless i'm wearing heels
  • I still have morning sickness even tho not pregnant
  • i store stress in my jaw and end up looking like Arnie in the face and in agony
  • am allergic to kidney beans
  • asthmatic
  • back ache (stress again)
  • i get nose bleeds once a week

That'd make for a cracking lonely hearts ad. "Retching stress-whore with bleeding nose and one sore toe seeks fellow asthmatic to avoid kidney beans with..."

bozza · 04/04/2007 12:06

I have the following:

dodgy middle finger on right hand due to DD fighting and getting it stuck in car seat straps last year
sinus troubles
snoring
persistent nighttime cough that lasts most of every winter
(think above 3 all related)
restless leg syndrome
issues with sacroiliac joint especially related to laying down - suspect these are a pregnancy issue that has improved but not gone away - I had times in pg when I literally couldn't get out of bed
piles (in remission atm)
excema on neck, tends to be a winter condition but is the worst it has ever been this year
slight anterior prolapse and hence weak pelvic floor

bozza · 04/04/2007 12:06

bad headaches including dizziness, nausea and lack of vision - are these migraines?

KathyMCMLXXII · 04/04/2007 13:29

sounds like it Bozza.

Charleesunnysunsun · 04/04/2007 13:34

I thought i did for ages when i had :-

Chest pain
Leg cramps
Rash
Allergy to heat and cold

Turs out i have Lupus, it only took 16 yrs to diagnose! Ang there is no sodding cure!

suejonez · 04/04/2007 13:47

I have:

PCOS
a ganglion
a bleeding mole
dodgy knees (two different opposing problems)
sinusitis after every cold
impacted wisdom teeth
scarred kidney
allergy to plasters and dettol.

And no, most of it isn't age I just have a disfunctional body

suejonez · 04/04/2007 13:48

oh and a lump on my chestwhich no-one knows what it is but its been there for 26 years so its probably not life threatening

suejonez · 04/04/2007 13:50

and a dislocating jaw like hippipotumis

forevermore · 04/04/2007 14:01

why do i feel so good after reading about all your misfoutunes? I think i'll add sadist to the list plus all of the below

NoodleStroodle · 04/04/2007 14:02

Ooo - this is lovely...

itchy scalp - not nits
clicky jaw
migraine - flashing lights & vom
migraine - paralysis of one side of body & slurred speech lol
no pelvic flaw
ocasional deafness

suejonez · 04/04/2007 14:05

Noodle - no pelvic flaw? Does that mean you have a flaw-less pelvis

NoodleStroodle · 04/04/2007 14:18

In my dreams! No it is a very flawed pelvic floor and I am fed up with it

bran · 04/04/2007 14:27

What a fab thread, I have a long list

Things I've had for a long time and therefore not age related
PCOS
Mouth ulcers
Ulcers on my upper eye-lid just inside the eyelash line
Frozen shoulders (both of them)
Allergy to something (I don't know what) that makes my lips, face and hands swell and gives me big hives on my tummy and back. I only get it in very hot weather so I may be allergic to my own sweat (is this even possible?)
A loose knee
Cows' milk intolerance
Occasionally, a splitting headache on orgasm
Tree pollen (springtime) hayfever
Tend to get a cough that lasts about 3 weeks after every cold
Psoriasis (not that bad atm thankfully)
Tendency to develop sebaceous cysts on my scalp
Shooting pain in ankle or foot when walking, usually wears off after about 10 mins

More recent, and possibly age related stuff
Contact dermatitis from detergent, esp. washing up liquid
Advancement of hayfever to include itching and then swelling of my ears, I usually go deaf in at least one ear at some stage.
Ear infections, from hayfever swelling
New this year is thrush, from the antibiotics used to treat the ear infections
Appalling diarrhoea from the thrush treatment
Sporadic swelling of the lymph nodes
I put my back out last year when changing a nappy
A bit of a dowager's hump from bad posture at the computer

suejonez · 04/04/2007 15:06

ooh bran I have always had the cysts on the head business have always been convinced that it goes with the insulin resistance/PCOS thing, also the the pain in the heel thing maybe tendonitis which is also linked to insulin levels

NoodleStroodle · 04/04/2007 15:08

I always thought the headache came before...
