Does Everyone Have a Long List of Weirdo Minor Problems? Or is it just me?

I get:

  • labyrinthitis, after a head cold
  • tracheitis, sometimes, no idea why
  • knee problems
  • foot problems
  • chronic excema, on hands and feet, very minor but itchy
  • minor asthma
  • very weird skin and mouth thrush, but only when pg

Is this just what getting older is like, you have a long list of strange larely untreatable illnesses that annoy you all the time?

IMPORTANT If you have a dodgy mole, get it checked out/removed. Two doctors told me one of mine was fine, but 2nd dr removed it anyway. Turned out it was malignant. Luckily was caught in time so hadn't spread. Mine are checked every 3 months. Don't put off going. It could save your life!!

am just about to be referred to get my bleeding crusty mole looked at - it has been removed TWICE and grown. Persistent little bugger - I htink it may be a form of extraterrestrial life.

i have had my mole checked, but have been told its nothing. It is very small. Will get it checked again though.

I am covered in moles! But all of them are flat, and most are round and only one colour.

I'm always boggled by the 'keep track of your moles, watch out for them moving around'. How on earth would I notice!

Can I add some more to my list please,
Nose bleeds during hay-fever time
Travel sickness, never goes away but sometimes worse then others. I used to live in Balham and get the Northern Line to Angel to work, and sometimes I had to get off part way through the journey and wait for the nausea to subside
Sinusitis, especially when I have hay-fever. In fact I think I should just hibernate for spring and wake up when the tree pollen has gone.
I have millions of moles too, but I don't have any problems with them so I don't think that counts.

I just have PAIN in my pelvis - hips and lower back - just CONSTANTLY.

It makes me feel so OLD

I'm sure it is partly lack of exercise and I would love to have the three-times-a-week gym habit that I had when I was younger, it made me feel SO much better, but I'm not going to have that much time for many years.

I feel OLD

MOLES-If they grow or change shape, change colour (particularly start to look black) or bleed get them checked.

I had melanoma 5 years ago when pregnant with dd2 and had an op at 7 months to remove the part of my ear surrounding it.

dandasmummy · 05/04/2007 21:49

MrsWho - it sounds as if you had a similar experience to me. It's very scary isn't it? Do you get your other moles checked now? Do you know what caused your melanoma? In my case it was sunbathing too much and using sunbeds

MrsWho · 05/04/2007 21:58

NO idea what caused it other than the suggestion that being pregnant speeded it up.
I have never used sunbeds/sunbathed only ever had a burnt nose once or twice.Used to spend a lot of time in the sun riding up ear would have been covered by the hat.
Finally got signed off from the hospital last year but have had afew more removed but no more malignant ones.

dandasmummy · 06/04/2007 08:32

Hopefully that'll be the end of it for you then. At least you hadn't put yourself at risk like me. I've had two removed since last year when they removed the first one. One was benign. I'm still waiting for results of 2nd, but fingers crossed, that one will have been too...

If anyone is still worried about their numb / itchy thigh patches, it's probably meralgia parasthetica (sp might be off), which is due to a squashed nerve. Apparently a lot more of it around since people started wearing jeans all the time!

Nothing can be done about it. If you are in the UK, your GP might send you for an EMG (nerve and muscle test), but "we" (the dept I work in) wouldn't do it because it doesn't show anything... if you were in the US you'd get an EMG, MRI, and lord knows what else in a work up to exclude MS, Lupus, etc etc etc....

if that is your only symptom, and you've had it forever, then that's what it is!! I've had it for over 10 years and now have an answer....

I would love to add my ailments to the list, but I'm at work, and would rather go home dammit! So I'm off - Happy Easter!

I've got a new one today - my finger joints are really aching...
