Does Everyone Have a Long List of Weirdo Minor Problems? Or is it just me?

I get:

  • labyrinthitis, after a head cold
  • tracheitis, sometimes, no idea why
  • knee problems
  • foot problems
  • chronic excema, on hands and feet, very minor but itchy
  • minor asthma
  • very weird skin and mouth thrush, but only when pg

Is this just what getting older is like, you have a long list of strange larely untreatable illnesses that annoy you all the time?

I have a numb tingly patch on my thigh when I touch it in a certain place i'm not sure if it's related to sciatica I had when pregnant or the dodgy spring in our mattress.

I sometimes wake up with a numb shoulder blade with pins and needles too that goes after a while I think we need a new mattress and bloody cosleeping does not help because I tend to lie on the same side every night.

KathyMCMLXXII · 03/04/2007 21:15

DH does.
He has knee problems, throat problems, 2 eye problems and neck problems atm.

I'm fine though.

NotQuiteCockney · 03/04/2007 21:15

Ah, but is it serious? It doesn't count if it's serious.

DS1 obviously takes after me - he's twice had minor unexplained paralysis. Lost the use of an arm once, and a leg another time. Both fixed themselves, neither was explained.

NQC - have you seen a homeopath? Do you believe at all in that mumbo jumbo stuff becasue all these niggling chronic things are stuff that homeopathy can deal with significantly better than conventional medicine. And if nothing else you will get an hour with somebody who is genuinley interested in every little complaint you have. (If you're in London I can recommend a brillinat woman)

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 03/04/2007 21:17

I get
-Trigeminal neuraligia thingy
-numb patch on side of face and one on side of leg [?]
-allergy to cold, hives
-allergy to sunshine, rash, blistery
-dodgy wrist joints
-iffy hip when I don't run
-sinusitis
-non-blancing rash on chest, something to do with platelets I imagine but bloods seem to show nothing,

Apart from that I'm as well as the next 43 year old!

expatinscotland · 03/04/2007 21:17

My damn right knee.

I have an ACL reconstruction in it, with two screws and staples.

Sometimes, that thing aches like a son of a bitch.

I broke my left foot and ankle 17 years ago.

Sometimes, it still hurts and the ankle tricks out and sprains easily.

I can still feel where I had a LEEP procedure on my cervix right before my period.

My sinuses SUCK and I usually get a couple of infections/year.

expatinscotland · 03/04/2007 21:17

Oh, I had wicked carpal tunnel whilst pregnant w/DD2, and my thumb has never been the same.

I also developed gum disease in pregnancy and it's getting worse.

PelvicfloornomoreChocolate · 03/04/2007 21:18

Oh good not just me then.

Ooo Ledodgy, we can compare numb/tingly patches!

FrayedKnot · 03/04/2007 21:19

lol Dh reckons I do..

Endometriosis (OK that one's quite serious)
Occasional migraine
Itchy eczema elbows
A gammy foot (about to have it operated on)
Banana intolerance
Clicky knees
Dodgy sacro-ileac joint
Indigestion
Grumbling gallstones
Used to have a grumbling appendix

I also get labyrinthitis sometimes afetr a cold.

Often get sore throats.

er, that's all I cna think of for now.
I'm healthy as hell, though.

NotQuiteCockney · 03/04/2007 21:19

Ah, no, sorry, I can't do homeopathy. Not very good with alternative medicine generally, but really can't face homeopathy.

I just make DH listen to all of it .

None of them cause me real agony, and most of them are, at least, explicable, but they're just weird.

Oh, my right elbow is mucked up (fell on it).

Achey sinuses.
Blocked ear.
Occasional tooth pain (wisdom teeth?)
Knee a bit dodgy.

None enough on their to really bother a doctor, but am loath to turn up with a list and "oh and there's another thing".

I had scholiosis, and one shoulder is higher than the other.

Of course, that would also be the shoulder I took a HUGE lead fall on and dislocated.

The older I get, the worse it gets - I spend time trying to pop out my neck nearly everyday and sometimes the pain radiates down my arm.

PelvicfloornomoreChocolate · 03/04/2007 21:21

-sinus pain and congestion
-eye cysts which need removing surgically
-dry sore eyes cos of cysts
-occasional heelpurs
-knackered back
-sore finger joint(fell up the stairs 8weeks ago and fell on my fingers)
-chronic depression and anxiety

hmmmmm i think that's it for now!

VeniVidiVickiQV · 03/04/2007 21:21

OH no...very normal I think. HAve been this way since childhood. A whole cocophany of niggly problems that amount to nothing.

NotQuiteCockney · 03/04/2007 21:22

Ok, twitchy vulva wins.

You get some points for the 'only 241 recorded cases', but I knew it was serious, nobody bothers recording the truly weird complaints.

(I do sometimes get weird stabbing vulva pains. Never when I'm doing anything important (ahem), thankfully, but it's bloody annoying.)

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 03/04/2007 21:23

Yes Fio - from the bit between my cheekbone and ear. It's bloody agony sometimes but the meds the doc gave me are pretty heavy duty so I don't take them (plus you can't have booze ).

NotQuiteCockney · 03/04/2007 21:23

Oh god, I used to get panic attacks, but seem to have grown out of them. Those really sucked.

My lower back is dodgy, but pilates sorts that.

HopeIGetSomeMegaEggs · 03/04/2007 21:23

Sending sympathy and pain relieving/healing vibes to you all.
Right, now I can list mine:

  • intermittent sacral iliac back pain which causes pain in my neck, jaw, head, hip and left knee.(Although this has been better since we got a new bed)
  • mouth ulcers like moon craters
  • intermittent pelvic pain (might be my Mirena, seems to happen momthly but I need to keep a record to be sure)

-for the past 6 weeks a really nasty catarh problem which I have never had before which has left me wheezy and quite deaf.
