For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and more detailed information here

We are currently the proud owners of SIXTEEN lemons and when I rang to moan, the man from the farm says that they have other awkward customers, but I am the Queen of Awkwardness

I am not convinced that this latest fruit box delivery scheme is working out for us

Am trying to do this but keep losing count. Shall I make myself a star chart. Or a ten bits of pasta jar???

FrannyandZooey · 23/03/2007 19:58

just post on here and brag while you are eating - much more enjoyable

Today I have had

apple, pear, raisins, kiwi, soya milk, grilled veg in a sandwich, parsnip and carrot and swede and sweet potato and lentil soup.

And we still have 16 lemons. Anyone have a lemonade recipe, please?

Hello folks

I have eaten loads of salad, three apples, an orange and some tomatoes, and I am about to have curried spinach, spuds, cauliflower, kale, onions and purple sprouting broccoli for dinner.

Am f*ing knaspered, have had yet another bloody playdate (hate the term) this afternoon and had my house trashed and my fridge emptied. DS1's bloody social life is making me old before my time.

Greenshoots · 23/03/2007 20:01

Franny, make lemon sorbet

FrannyandZooey · 23/03/2007 20:07

(I am positive she must mean fruitshoots, don't you think?)

suzycreamcheese · 23/03/2007 20:58

had lashings of uber veg soup (an everything in the cupboard job) very tasty..do beans / pulses count??...

greenshoots i remember asking someone what a playdate was! strange term innit!

f&z ..i'd give you my made up recipe for lentil lemon and tomato soup but it only uses one lemon...
...i'd arrange them in pleasing to eye way (cant spell aesthetic!) utilising them as others do flowers...
...ask farm shop for the badge 'awkward customer of the Week'..love it!

FrannyandZooey · 23/03/2007 21:00

Beans etc count, yes indeedy

I want lemonade recipes

When I phone up the farm, the man says "Hello Awkward Franny"

SIXTEEN lemons Franny

That's a bit ridiculous isn't it

In your position I would always keep some lemon slices in the fridge - then you can put them in water or other drinks...

Today I've had a tangerine, prune juice, celery carrot, red pepper, cucumber, leek and spring onions. Need to have a bit more fruit now.

FrannyandZooey · 23/03/2007 21:32

Fancy a lemon Tatties?

Hello every one or Hiya as they say in these here parts My absence hasn't been entirely to do with post op recovery, as our pc has been playing up as well.
Just started to do little gentre strolls now, and mainly feeling a lot better. I am worried about dealing with the dcs tomorrow morning (I have help for part of the afternoon)
Anyway, I have been trying to keep up with my fruit and veg intake as much as I can.Dh has done pretty well on the cooking front, confirming my long held suspision (sp) that he is more handy in the kitchen than he maintains.
Today I have had a lovely veg stew, with a tomato sauce, cauliflower, mushrooms, carrot, leek, borlotti beans and courgettes. Really nice. I have also been snacking on bananas and apples as well, as well as having a big glass of fresh apple juice.
Got to keep the old system up and running if you know what I mean

Tatties · 25/03/2007 15:52

Hello Overrun! Glad you are feeling much better How is the lo with chickenpox?

Greenshoots · 25/03/2007 16:02

Sucking lemon face: >X-*

NuttyMuffins · 25/03/2007 16:05

Can I join ??

Not sure i'll ever reach 10 portions a day but I haven't been even having 5 so any improvment will be good.

Can I ask, does a small handful of raisins on cereal count as a potion ??

Tatties · 25/03/2007 16:15

Nutty, welcome I would count a small handful of raisins as a portion... but there is more detailed info about portion sizes if you click on the links in the OP.

Or how about this as a compromise for the lemon suckers: >:-*
