For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

lol at me being dedicated!

I did go out, between flurries. Bloody freezing though so we spent most of the time in the hothouse.

The dippy lunch went down very well with ds. A few months ago I don't think he'd have managed but he loved dipping carrots in "humm". And when the veg sticks ran out he was scooping the hummus out with his hands

Franny, I didn't post on the other thread, but are you sorted for party food yet? You are probably familiar with the Jennie Maizels finger food book, which may give you a few more ideas?? And I don't think your Gym Friend is a good idea is he...

FrannyandZooey · 20/03/2007 21:03

Wahey for ds dipping the humm

Tatties I was just overwhelmed by all the good ideas. I am going to sift through them this week and probably start more panicking threads in about 10 days time.

No my Gym Friend is non-functional. Do you think I could advertise? I only want someone to chat breathlessly to me on the cross trainer so I don't die of boredom craning my neck to watch ruddy channel 5

OP posts:
Tatties · 20/03/2007 21:16

Oh it was a great idea - ds never eats much at lunch, he's not impressed by sandwiches, but he was really enthusiastic about veg sticks and dip!

I would be bored silly at the gym too Franny. Probably why I don't go...

morningpaper · 20/03/2007 21:19

Gym Friend sounds great and he is a BOY how fabulous

Didn't do very well today due to Lack Of Fruit and it was too cold to leave the house and buy some. So did 1 banana, dried fruit and seeds, squashleekandpotato soup = 5 portions maybe? But ate veggie sausages for lunch so made the day without meat, which I am always pleased about. And Baby Small enjoyed the squash soup - she dipped fishfingers into it, shouting "DIP, DIP!" loudly all through dinner, which was nice.

Did 20 stomach crunches, does that count?

FrannyandZooey · 20/03/2007 21:28

MP did the stomach crunches take 10 mins? (probably would have in my case)

I was told a good way to increase the effectiveness of crunches if anyone is interested: do a set lying on your back with knees bent and feet on floor, then a set with knees bent and calves at right angles to thighs, then a set with legs straight, sticking up at right angles to the body

the last one is a right bugger

Apparently it works the different areas of the stomach

I have just realised what I need is a hands free mobile phone and then I can talk to another 10/10er on it while I am at the gym

OP posts:
Tatties · 20/03/2007 22:00

That's a good idea Franny. But people will think you are talking to yourself

Overrun · 20/03/2007 22:10

Hello all, its nice to see some new faces. Bit sore today, probably because I am trying to do without pain killers today
I've nibbled on some snacks throughout the day, a few apples etc
Also had some fennel and red cabbage as part of my dinner.
Feel all sluggish and quite bored now. I am averaging two books a day

FrannyandZooey · 21/03/2007 07:58

Overrun good to see you

do you need books sending?

OP posts:
Papillon · 21/03/2007 08:13

Hey Overrun Lucky you to be nose in book! Good healing

Had a lovely stir fry for dinner, cabbage, silver beet, peppers, courgette, mushroom, broccoli, cauliflower, leeks, onion with rice.

Eating lots of Braeburn apples which are being picked on the orchard atm.

CheesyFeet · 21/03/2007 10:11

I am feeling incredibly smug this morning - stir fried veg for tea last night and then an aerobics class. More fruit in my packup today and tomato soup for lunch (although out of a can, not home made sadly).

Overrun have you had an op? Sorry for not being up to speed but I'm not as regular on here as I'd like to be. Healing vviibbeess

suzycreamcheese · 21/03/2007 22:09

hi guys...
due to sort of rsi keyboard injury and dodgy broadband i've not been on much of anywhere...

FrannyandZooey · 21/03/2007 22:11

Something has gone wrong at my end as the farm man comes on Friday and we still have 3 fruit bowls full of fruit

We are going to be stuffed on Friday as we will then have 6 fruit bowls full of fruit

just assessed the situation and asked dp if he thought we could eat 3 fruit bowls full of fruit by Friday and he said we could give it our best shot

suzycreamcheese · 21/03/2007 22:13

overrun hope you feel better so soon....

Tatties · 22/03/2007 20:03

Well never mind ds, I am loving these dippy lunches! Today we had carrots, celery and cucumber batons with bread and hummus. I always find it amazing that this kind of meal can really fill you up. Even dp is keen, today he said, "it's a great way of getting a good portion into you "

FrannyandZooey · 22/03/2007 20:49

Yay Tatties!

Ds would like to come and live with you, I think; we had stew for lunch and he was complaining mightily

"Where are my vegetables? Where is my dip?"

Glad to see this thread is still feeling the love for Mr. Bolan (although a little worried we have chased Filly off)

OP posts:
Tatties · 22/03/2007 21:59

As I was on a roll today I thought I'd try a fruit dip as well (sliced apple with plain yogurt)... he ate the apple but ignored the yogurt

In general I am having a good week. And I had such a proud mummy moment yesterday - we were preparing dinner to music and ds started dancing when Tainted Love came on! That's my boy Actually I am feeling so proud I am tempted to put a picture on my profile... shall I shall I ?!!

FrannyandZooey · 22/03/2007 22:01

Ooh yes Tatties please do

I have the most fab one of ds too but I don't understand all this newfangled profile hoohah

OP posts:
Tatties · 22/03/2007 22:12

Look now! The profile stuff is quite easy actually, I'm normally crap at that sort of thing

FrannyandZooey · 22/03/2007 22:25

OOOOOOOOOH Tatties he is a HANDSOME BUGGER

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 22/03/2007 22:26

anyway, moving on...

he is very very gorgeous

does he look like you or dp?

OP posts:
Tatties · 22/03/2007 22:31

He is handsome isn't he

Actually that picture is from about a year ago (but I really love it) and my breasts have shrunk a bit since then. I have recently started to detest wearing a bra though and am finding myself very of those who can go without

Tatties · 22/03/2007 22:33

He looks like both of us Franny. Dp and I actually look quite similar

FrannyandZooey · 22/03/2007 22:35

So you are just this incredibly dark and moodily handsome family

with great breasts

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 22/03/2007 22:37

ooh he is delicious, I am looking at him again

those ears are edible
