Experiences of parents with unvaccinated babies/ children

Hi there,

I'm a first time mum who lives in Kent and my DS will be coming up for 8 weeks. After quite a bit of research (and prayer might I add) my husband and I are leaning towards not giving our son any of his vaccinations at all or at least as early as 8 weeks.

I'm interested to specifically hear from parents who have older babies and children that are unvaccinated. What have your experiences been of not vaccinating your child? What has their general health been like? Have you have to isolate them at all/ be careful where you went? Do any attend nursery or school? Do nurserys even take unvaccinated children (excuse my ignorance lol)? Have they been more susceptible to illnesses or caught anything major? If you feel able to share, what were your reasons for not vaccinating?

If anyone is able to share their views on any or all of these questions - would be interested in hearing from you.

Many thanks

I didn't understand the "revaccinate as adults" point.
Y-many doses confers X% change of full immunity.
Not all jabs need repeat boosters in rest of life Confused to keep X high.
Me & DC have had repeats of several sorts, anyway.

Anyone else find it strange that the OP has not returned to the thread?

UserThenLotsOfNumbers · 04/06/2017 14:41

@QueenofEsgaroth No not at all, they are obvious a journalist.

StarUtopia · 04/06/2017 14:59

No. Not really. Everyone was being an aggressive dick.

I had measles as a child in the 80's as it was recommended that I wasn't vaccinated due to my family's medical history. I caught measles when I was infant school. It wasn't pleasant as I felt really ill with a sky high fever and literally didn't move from bed for a week. Fortunately, I didn't develop any complications, but I remember how ill I felt over 30 years later!

FizzyGreenWater · 23/09/2017 21:03

The one person who died during the measles outbreak in Swansea had been vaccinated.

frogsoup · 23/09/2017 21:07

Btw to the person who posted the Roald dahl link above - he wasn't a parent who 'didnt vaccinate', but one who had his children in an era before the measles vaccine was introduced!!! Absolutely not on to imply Dahl was somehow anti-vaccine - he was quite the opposite.

He had not been vaccinated

My dd is unvaccinated and it'll stay that way.
She's thriving. Incredibly intelligent and alert and if she's ill she can get over it very quickly. Please do your own research. Please take into account your genetic health also and what your baby could be at risk to.
Read the inserts and inform yourself and make your own decision. Not what someone on here tells you to. It's your child. No one else's. My cousin didn't have his vaccinations. He's thriving so are his children. But please ask your doctor for the inserts and inform yourself. Mine wouldn't show me them so I left still unsure but I'm happy with my decision and wouldn't change it. You know your child better than a doctor does

But anecdotes are not data.

SaltyMyDear

I stopped reading your blog link when it described autism as a disease.

Lots of home schooled kids have medical conditions, big surprise there, I wonder how many are homeschooled because of a medical condition?

TefalTester123 · 11/02/2018 05:11

My son was vaccinated and got Hib at 5 months due to a failure in a vaccine batch (which was later corrected by a recall for his age group to be revaccinated). He was very very lucky as this could have resulted in meningitis. Instead he got a bone infection. Again he was very lucky as these are often in major joints. His was in the elbow, which is now badly deformed.
It's not just measles.
Please vaccinate your child.

Stringofpearls · 11/02/2018 05:11

A close family member of mine wasn't vaccinated and when she contracted measles she lost sight in one of her eyes. Vaccination is clearly the most sensible, caring and moral thing to do for your child.

My dd is almost a year unvaxxed
Ds is due next week and won't be vaxxed.

Stick to your guns.
My dd is healthy, very bright and happy.

I have two auto immune diseases from vaccinations. I really suffer and at 22, I shouldn't be.
My brother had asbergers. Which we were told by a doctor had been caused from the added aluminium in his brain from the mmr. CDC have recently admitted to the autism/asbergers side effects corresponding to the aluminium aspect.

Unvaccinated children are healthier. Less allergies. Less disabilities and less likely to spread disease.

With that ability to fit so much bullshit into such a small space you should pursue a career as a politician.

Aurea · 22/03/2018 22:21

My son was vaccinated and still got measles...just saying....

yikesanotherbooboo · 23/03/2018 04:46

I'm sorry your son got measles Aurea . Your experience is proof that insufficient people are vaccinated as the disease is still circulating in the community. Well children with no contraindications are vaccinated for themselves but also to provide herd immunity to protect those who cannot have the vaccine or who have no immune systems due to cancer treatment or whatever.

DisneylandDreams · 23/03/2018 04:51

I love the fact that you think it's funny to be ignorant.

Knej99216 · 23/03/2018 05:05

Not my experience but someone I know, their child didn't make it to the 8 week vaccinations because their baby caught whooping cough and died!! Aged just 4 weeks 😟

GladGuide · 10/02/2024 11:53

I worked with a colleague she’s in her mid 20s and when Covid came up the conversation about vaccinations came up . She never in her life has had vaccinations as her older siblings had bad reactions . Her parents decided not to vaccinate her. She seemed pretty healthy and normal to me .super smart , active etc. my relative also had a baby and he got the first vaccination but the baby nearly died from them so they decided to not vaccinate the child anymore. The problem now in my opinion is that they make super strong vaccine cocktails from all diseases whereas in my generation there were few specific shots and that’s all. So we didn’t get so sick after being vaccinated. Anyway point being It’s your duty as a parent to make most informed decision for what’s right for your child. If it was me, I’d read up on as much peer reviewed research as I can to create a balanced decision . If that decision is to not to vaccinate the child now once the child is older age they are always able to choose to get vaccinated or not . It’s never too late to get vaccinated. Informed decision is key though and ideally studies

This thread is 6 years old. I'm not sure how you can talk about peer reviewed research and vaccine cocktails in the same sentence

Show you haven't got a clue about medical science without saying you haven't got a clue about medical science.
