Hi
I'd be glad of any advice or personal experiences here. I am around 4 stone overweight, so definitely obese. Most of it is on my stomach though, which now looks like I'm 11 months pregnant with triplets. I'm in my 50s so this is not a possibility. It's very painful and I am short of breath when I walk etc.

I've put on a lot of weight in a short period - 10lbs in 2 months.

Six months ago I was bodyboarding in the sea, walking every day and doing an exercise class every week. Now it's a struggle to do anything.

I'm having bloods done on Friday but any ideas / comments? Am I just unlucky to pile it all on in one place?

Hi Folded and all. It's Piccadilly Circus right now. Every bed now full with women having surgery today - generally breast I think. So surgeons, consultants, anaesthetists everywhere.

I'm waiting for the gynae team to talk to me. DDs had a bit of a meltdown last night and were crying down the phone at me, which set me off and I ended up sobbing in the corridor... I need to tell my family very soon too.

Do remember to look after yourself when you get out, a friend of mind who has spent a lot of time in hospitals reckons it takes a week to get over each night. Please make sure your family buy food that's easy to eat/prepare in anticipation of your release.

Congratulations on your instant weight loss, mind. Hopefully it's something that turns out to be straightforward to fix Flowers

I was reading your original post today and thought about a friend. She just presumed she was gaining weight all on her stomach and ignored it as such. Until someone asked when she was going on maternity leave Blush
Long story short she had a mass the size of a basketball removed and litres of fluid drained. Mass was nothing suspicious, she is now probably a size 12-14 but perfectly average shape

Woman next to me is a health abuser and tourist - I have heard whispers from docs and nurses. She rings her bell constantly and demands everything NOW.

A&E was exceptionally busy last night but she insisted an anaesthetist come up and do her canular again. This am she demanded one particular surgeon do it.

I have to say the nurses are all brilliant with her though one said if she was in Portugal she would have been sent home days ago.

Imagine a middle-age woman with large (no longer obese) stomach, lying flat on bed with 4 little fountains appearing out of said stomach, and you're nearly there. [Wink]

3 of the fountains have been plugged (biopsy sites) but the 4th is still going. The stomach drain had stopped until they took it out and now it won't stop. 😠

May not be going home after all. I am a soggy mess.

Ndn is officially balmy apparently. I'm told she comes over every few months and stays for weeks. She has been making an official complaint for the last 2 hours........

You paint a good picture Grin What is it with drain sites? They do exactly that. Drain absolutely nothing for days or hours on end, then leak like a stuck pig as soon as the drain is removed every time. You sound like you have good entertainment on board though? Are you being treated well?

A bit of a rollercoaster to go from 'your best rice cake and cottage cheese recipes' to 'fluid, biopsies and drains' in a few days, though. I hope you have good people around you for when the shock wears off and the day to day kicks in. Do shout if you need help?
