wobblyknicks · 10/07/2004 09:37

Sorry you're having such a rough time of it . All I can say is soon this will all seem worth it when you start to feel better.

tigermoth · 10/07/2004 10:27

very strong of you, essbee, to stick with your dosage when you are feeling like this. Hope the effects kick in really soon now. Hope you found someone to talk to.

fiorocious · 10/07/2004 13:11

I am very sorry to hear that you are so low still. Please do make sure that you look after yourself. Is there really nobody who can come and stay with you to help see you through this?

I have not wanted to say too much before but I had a close call with depression and you sound very much like how I did. Take it seriously and get as much help as you can.

essbee - im really sorry i havent posted on here before. I've got various threads running about my own depression woes (dont bother reading them - youve got enough to worry about.)

Re. the first few days on the AD's. From personal experience the best way I can describe it in my case was like severe sea sickness. Dizzy/disorientated/ nausea etc etc. Also my sleep was definately badly affected originally - although during the day all I wanted to do was sleep - even though I couldn't.

BUT I can honestly say - every single one of these side effects went away. The worst within 2 weeks.

Also spoke to someone last week who has been prescribed same one as you. Typical man - he stayed in bed for the whole of the first 2 weeks because he felt 'washed out' - now a month on he feels 100 times better.

I really hope u start to lift soon. (And I think its amazing that u managed to take the kids out yesterday!)

Curling up in bed? Wanting to up and leave? and to disappear? I am aware that you said not to worry but I really do think that you should seek more help. I was like you were a while ago and 1 night I did go that bit further and I had family and friends around me. You sound like you are very much on your own which is what is worrying me more. Can you go and stay with somebody for a bit if you cannot have people to stay with you?

mummytosteven · 11/07/2004 23:54

Essbee - sorry you are still feeling so rough. How old are your kids - could you get them sat in front of a video or something so you could get a bit of quiet, or arrange for them to go to their friend's house after school? Have you been back to the docs at all to see if they have any advice/could refer you to a counsellor? When was the last time you had a decent night's sleep - sleep deprivation makes everything worse, so maybe your doctor could prescribe you a few days worth of sleeping pills as a temporary measure to get you through this.

wobblyknicks · 12/07/2004 00:04

Sorry you're still having such a bad time essbee. Haven't really got any advice, just adding some more support and if you need a chat any time just let me know. xxx

essbee, maybe taking the tablets late in the evening isn't such a good time? If you took them in the morning, would you then be too buzzy to sort out the kids etc, or do you think you could manage? If that would work you might feel a bit more dynamic at the kids' bedtime, and then sleepier at your bedtime, and then you could get some sleep. (Possibly. Of course I am talking from a position of total ignorance here! And I'm not sure how it would make you feel by the time you got to work?)

wishing you lots of luck for today, essbee. Do hope you see some improvement.

Does it make any difference if you take your talbets after you have eaten? (just a thought) And, can you phone the doctor to explain just how bad the side effects have been. They might have more suggestions about coping with them? I don't suppose there is any medicine they can prescribe to lessen the side effects?
