essbee, i was prescribed those tablets too and my doctor suggested i just take half for a few days to try and lesson the possibility of side effects, to sort of ease into taking them.

the fact that you're scared of taking them could be making you feel like that but you could try taking half. my doctor recommended it because i tend to have a bit of a reaction to taking tablets and i got panic attacks if i just went straight onto them. could be worth a try.

What about if you take half now and see how you feel? Are you drinking LOADS and staying off the booze?

Fair enough - sorry you feel so weird. How many are you supposed to take - one a day?

I don't know if it makes any difference if you miss a day's tablet, but you could start tonight taking half per day. I would ask my sis for advice but she's in Greece atm

all I can really say is it will be worth it when they start to help, but that's not much comfort now I know.

mummytosteven · 08/07/2004 19:50

Thanks for the link Essbee - v interesting to see that should avoid combining SSRIS with aspirin/some anti-sickness pills - never seen that before. Don't know what to suggest to help- would it help at all if you took the tablets just before you go to bed - are the side effects worse at any particular time of day/interval after taking it? Maybe if you put a thread on (or I'll do it if you like) asking for people's specific experiences when starting Cipralex that might reassure you as to when the side effects are likely to go away. Take care.

hi essbee, try and drink lots of water and if you can, get some fresh air. Hope you manage to sleep well.

DelGirl · 09/07/2004 06:21

have you eaten btw? I know AD's can sometimes suppress your appetite so try eating something too, if you can face it

mummytosteven · 09/07/2004 10:38

Hiya Essbee - found this by googling about duration of side effects to Cipralex - www.medhelp.org/forums/MentalHealth/messages/C32587-9.html - it's quite encouraging - people seem to have had side effects for under a week and then felt fine. Don't get too freaked out about falling asleep on the sofa - I've sometimes done that without taking ads - its just coz you're so tired. Speak to your doc tomorrow about maybe cutting down to 5 mg as your starting dose. So sorry you are having a tough time at the moment - hang in there, and keep posting!

tigermoth · 09/07/2004 11:20

essbee, you've said you've been sleeping really badly for a while. Mummytosteven could be right about your spacey feeling, and sleeping on the sofa, being a result of this. Or a combination - your exhaustion plus ads.

Is there an emergency doctor service in your area? If I phone our doctors surgery out of hours, I get another number to ring, and can speak to a doctor, or go along to an out of hours surgery within hours. If there's a similar service in your area, you could always use it today, if you think it would help you.

Hope you're sleeping at the moment....

HiddenSpirit · 09/07/2004 11:52

Must install those emoticons too

aloha · 10/07/2004 00:41

Essbee - you must be so tired - you haven't slept well forever, and I'm not surprised you are feeling spacey. But yes, talk to your GP and maybe reduce your dose. I really, really hope you feel better soon. You've come so far.

tigermoth · 10/07/2004 00:48

just popping up to say, hello essbee I'm sending positive thoughts to you. Hope you get a better night tonight.
