For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and more detailed information here

ah well good on you anyway.

seriously if you were round here I'd be interested, it does sound fun. someone else having to run about like a mad thing with my kids would not be a bad deal.

am off to allotment to be rained on soon

Overrun · 04/03/2007 12:01

HI,
The meal went well, but ds1 has chicken pox, so am going to be stuck in the house with hime for most of this week
Hope you and yours continue to improve Nockeny. Little children can sweat amazing amounts, can't they Sharing a bed with one, is akin to sharing with a boiling hot, wet hot water bottle
Franny, so were you a Nanny before ds1 then [nosey emoticon]
Just realised that I have been spelling potato wrong all this time, with an "e" on the end. Once I get an idea in my head
Tangerine juice and an apple so far, but the smell of roast chicken pervades the house, and there are lots of leftover veggies from last night, so an easy lunch coming up soon

Nockney · 04/03/2007 12:04

Overrun, you're not anywhere near East London, are you? DS2 hasn't had chicken pox yet, and I'd like him to get it.

WelshSleeves · 04/03/2007 12:05

Is there a silent Q in Nockney?

Nockney · 04/03/2007 12:24

No no, the Q is pronounced, but invisible. It's exactly the opposite of a silent Q, come to think of it.

Who are you? Greeny? Welshy? Or someone else entirely?

WelshSleeves · 04/03/2007 12:25

Greenys DS2 and Welshys DD had a baby.

I am the baby.

Nockney · 04/03/2007 12:31

Ok alarming crossbreed of two small children, who is doing the typing for you?

WelshSleeves · 04/03/2007 12:37

Yes, my parents are young but it was love at first sight. Their eyes met over a Innocent smoothie and their fate was sealed.

I am typing myself, even though I am only 8 days old I am a genius.

Upon finding out who my parents and grandmothers were, Mensa insisted on being at my birth to see the entrance of their messaih.

FrannyandZooey · 04/03/2007 12:39

Overrun, yes I was (and I don't mind nosiness, suffering from it myself). Worked for one particular family for 10 years, and another for 7 years (nanny share), and now they are all glorious teenagers and babysit ds for me, and occasionally allow me to come out with them in the evenings and stuff

Sorry to hear of all illness. A friend just rang to say her ds has chicken pox and she was at my group on Friday, so we may be getting it too. If we do, you can come to visit, NQC.

I did know who you were, Sleeves, but I have forgotten. Arse. Do you like fruit and veg at all?

Nockney. I am no where near you I'm afraid (south wales). Otherwise I would oblige Its interesting as ds1 has been exposed to chicken pox so many times, I had almost become convinced that he was immune to it, he is covered, poor thing, although doesn't seem too bad. I just wish the dts would come down with it now, rather than in 21 days time, as that will just prolong the agony.
Franny, thats fascinating, I would never ever have had you pegged as a Nanny.
It is tipping it down here again, and I think I should take the dts out, while dh is here, as we are all going to be stuck in all week. I just really don't fancy any soft plays, but we would get soaked if we went for a walk

Fillyjonk · 04/03/2007 18:37

oh crap mine are both sick too ovun, hope its not chickenpox.

Thought they'd been vaccinated against that but am probably talking crap.

am so fed up. my kids are taking it in turns to scream at me

on the upside we spent an enjoyable hour at the dutch nursery buying climbers for my rabbit hutch of a garden. then we went to sainsburys and found them for half the price

Overrun · 04/03/2007 19:02

Chicken pox is doing the rounds in these parts, so fingers crossed for you. I think they innoculate against it in the US, but not here

Fillyjonk · 04/03/2007 19:27

oh i thought it was varicella zoster, which i thought i'd seen on the scedule.

BUT was pg when ds was being vax'd so might have been one of my blood tests

ah well, another joy to come then

FrannyandZooey · 04/03/2007 21:08

Throw me a bone here for the new thread title ladies, I am feeling extremely uninspired tonight

Hope all poorly people and children are feeling better soon.

Today i have had 2 manderins and a pile of mixed veg(peas, beans, carrots and sweetcorn).
Thats the only way i can eat peas. I hate them!

Overrun · 04/03/2007 22:04

What about, somethingpithy about purple sprouting brocili (as I believe it is coming into season)
Or the occasional salad creeping in? Sorry I can't make it clever like you

FrannyandZooey · 05/03/2007 09:12

Thanks Overrun, here it is

Tortoise you are very consistent and I admire your pea-eating under duress
