I am in no way medically qualified but a relative had a huge bladder stone and his only symptom was dark wee,

Rrross1ges · 31/12/2016 23:34

Well we've got sporners on mumsnet so it's not inconceivable that there might be a group of like minded individuals who like to look at pots of pee. They could call themselves the Urinals and have a flushing noise as a klaxon. Maybe toilet duck could sponsor them. I think your husband has started something.

BalaRua · 31/12/2016 23:42

Grin Grin Rrross he will be pleased to start something like that! I'm a huge sporner, love all that sort of thing, probably why I'm well suited to my job in microbiology

Wishing your dh well OP

Iggity · 31/12/2016 23:44

I've had urine this colour before but like someone else said above, I had severe PE and organs were starting to fail. I was hospitalised at the time however. One thing I was doing was a fluid balance chart ie recording volume of fluids drank and urine. Not sure if your DH is doing this but best of luck. No one did anything drastic when they saw my urine this colour but I started vomiting afterwards so a different situation. All the very best to your DH.

BalaRua · 31/12/2016 23:52

Thank you! I'll tell him about the fluid balance chart he will love that, he loves charts, tables, spreadsheets :)

Does he have any other symptoms OP?

Glad it seems to be nothing acute Flowers

BalaRua · 31/12/2016 23:54

Other than cold symptoms, no! Which is strange I feel. Nothing urinary at all. Poor chap is just getting on with it.

Just keep a close eye on him and try and get into GP on Tuesday.

Did they do a urinalysis or send the urine off to the labs?

Riversiderunner · 31/12/2016 23:58

Good luck OP - no fun for you

CherrySkull · 01/01/2017 00:17

i'm surprised, i have a UTI and blood in my urine atm, my dr gave me 3 days of antibiotics to try and knock it on the head and sent a sample off for testing.

Have they not given him anything at all?

I would honestly not wait until tuesday, go to the OOH tomorrow if he can get in.

ohtheholidays · 01/01/2017 00:42

You've said your LO is not well now as well I'd check it's not a nasty bug(some types of food poisoning can cause red urine)different people can show very different symptoms after contracting the exact same illness.

If your DH starts feeling ill or having pain or your LO feels worse then I'd go straight back upto the hospital.

I'm really surprised they didn't check your husbands urine and that they've sent him home without knowing what's caused it.

sweetkitty · 01/01/2017 00:48

Been following this hope your DH is ok

Thinkingblonde · 01/01/2017 00:53

Keep an eye on those cold symptoms, check his temp.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 01/01/2017 02:22

How odd.

Ds had blood in his urine but no obvious infection- he was given anti biotics as apparently that's NICE guidelines for men and boys presenting a possible uti.

Then the next day he was scanned at the hospital to rule out anything sinister.

Eventually they decided it might've been a small kidney stone.

I wonder what they expect the GP to do?Confused

FeralBeryl · 01/01/2017 03:01

Bala I only r half of the ft sorry, and your updates. Glad you got sorted tonight - try not to worry too much ( a few years in Urology meant I'm more than used to every colour of urine under the sun Envy)

•Keep an eye out for any obvious signs of infection materialising over the next day or so-high temp, sweating, shivers etc.

•Keep his fluid intake up.

•Avoid food or drink that may colour the urine so it can be assessed again on Tuesday.

• Watch for any pain/discomfort in his back, or at the front, running from the above his hip down to his groin.

• Avoid NSAIDS unless medically advised. (ibuprofen, naproxen or diclofenac) they can irritate the kidneys and can also dick about with proteins that affect bleeding.

• Keep an eye on what goes in is also coming out! A vague fluid chart showing in/output.

• Take an early morning specimen to the GP on Tuesday.

Sorry if tmi but is he pooing ok? Keep an eye on that too.

Happy New Year! WinkFlowers

BalaRua · 01/01/2017 04:04

feral Smile very useful list thank you. His poos are perfect so far!

GreatNorthern · 01/01/2017 08:03

OP
I do hope he'll be ok.

Someone a few posts back poo-pooed my suggestion of dehydration. Reason I said that was because a few years back DH had serious flu (under a neurologist for 2 years after it all)and when he was ill, his wee was very dark- not red but dark brown- because he couldn't keep up his fluid intake.

The main reasons for dark brown wee are liver damage (I had an inflamed liver due to meds) but there is often jaundice along with it as well as feeling really tired.

If they ran liver function and kidney function blood tests when he was in A&E and all were ok, then hopefully it's nothing too serious.

rainbowstardrops · 01/01/2017 08:29

How are things this morning Bala?
I hope DH is ok and that your little one is feeling brighter.
I bet you're bloody exhausted with it all Brew

GlitteryFluff · 01/01/2017 08:46

I'd be worried too. Hope he gets an appointment tomorrow.

GlitteryFluff · 01/01/2017 08:46

Tuesday*

BalaRua · 01/01/2017 09:31

Thank you everyone Flowers

DH's cold is drying up but he's coughing a lot today. Praying he doesn't end up with a chest infection :(. His wees have stayed pretty much the same, one got lighter in colour last night but still blood filled. He's got no pain or anything.

DS threw up in the night a couple of times and slept on me all night and is back asleep again now on me and won't be put down! His temp is up and down and calpol is helping. My poor baby!

hope things remain stable and improve

rainbowstardrops · 01/01/2017 10:04

Sorry to hear it's all still a bit rubbish. Hoping it all settles soon

Blacksox · 01/01/2017 10:37

Hope you get it sorted soon.

That photo looks exactly like my dh's urine when he had kidney stones (which he knew nothing about).
