From what i can remember if they come back clear you don't need an appointment.
IThe receptionist just looked on the compouter for the results and then said that i needed to make an appointment. It's not until Monday at 4.40pm.

This can't be good can it ??

Nursery where very concerned about her again today. They said she was exceptionally tired, pale and quiet, and didn't eat any of her dinner.
She does looke really tired today and yesterday i noticed that when she had a poo it was a really pale colour.
She has been playing up at bedtime since it's be lighter at night but even so i can't see why she would be sooo tired.

I'm getting very worried now. I really thought the blood tests would come back clear.

Just popped back to this thread.

The Build Up is sold in most chemists and maybe supermarkets eg in Boots with complan and diet foods etc. Minadex was the tonic ds had now i see someone else mentioned it. He also suffered from sore lips and susceptible to impetigo type infection which was a real b to get rid of.

linzoid · 12/05/2004 17:38

I give my son minadex all the time as he has a low immune system, it's a bit of a pain remembering it 3 times a day but i have never noticed him have green poo. Hope your dd gets sorted out soon, i know how awful it is to worry and not know whats going on.

Nutcracker · 12/05/2004 17:46

Robin - I have tried giving her fruit juice with her cereal but she rarely drinks it. She is having that new cereal at the mo erm Rice krispie Muddles or something. I know they have lots of different good things in (can't remember off hand).

Am definatly going to have a look at the build up drinks as i think they'd really help.

Hi there with my student nurse hat on and only limited knowledge to add! but the liver is best seen as a filter that works with the gall bladder. The liver recieves nutrients, drugs and toxins from the G.I tract. A change in enzyme levels may be due to a low grade infection, kids pick up lots of tummy bugs! so dont panic please. Any serious liver complaints should be accompanied by jaundice. so I may be wrong but id doubt that this is linked to any serios bowel conditions? pale poo may be linked to something as obvious as what she eats? DD had a couple of bloods done recnetly as she had lost allot of weight and wouldnt eat. her white cell count was raisied and as thats a symptom of leukemia she is still under the paeds. however i add strongly she is now very fit healthy and the white cell count is very likely to be a blip. Caused by an infection shomewhere. So dont worry, the reason you will have been reffered is as G.P's are not qualified to work in most specialities, hence general practitoners. They would not be doing there jobs if they didnt reffer on, the paeds just have more knowledge. In your shoes id not change anything in DD's diet. Leave it alone till you are told to. If the G.P suspected any bowel conditions they would have checked. So please dont panic. Minadex is great. DD pn her last bloods had a 'borderline' iron count and i initially gave her formular in her cows milk, shes 19months now and ive just switched her to minadex. always beware with iron supplements as iron is toxic in excess for children, however as you know her iron isnt as good as it could be id give it a whirl! Hope that may help or at least make you feel better! (neutrophils are white blood cells and you would have been told is these were raised. Raised indicates infection, there are also other white cell elements which agin mean different things. The paeds will im sure run food allerg tests when you go. This is done as part of the blood test. DD had all the majors done, fish(seafood), gluten, milk. and all were ok.
just found some stuff on digestive enzymes and the liver, there are lots and lots of them but none seem to link anything drastic, it just links back to infection, so thats a good thing!
anyway thats probably enough science stuff. Hope it may have helped? on the chapped lips try blisteze cream! worked a wonder on DD when she was run down!

a supplement we use for dd 18 mths is called paediasure, its like a milkshake but not dairy its full of protein and good stuff, my skinny minnie dd has piled on weight and strength being on it, its really good stuff, worth asking about - on prescription only though.
I know spatome is ok for children for iron supplement and is not going to make anyone constipated either. If it is iron deficient anaemia...
sorry no real idea just trying to lob some help your way if I can
xx kiwi

Thanks lots for taking the time to post Chloe (my dd's name is Chloe). You have put my mind at rest, so thanks for that. I will get some Minadex i think as it can't hurt. Other than that i'll just sit tight and moniter her every move
I'm going to keep a diary so i can tell the paed everything he needs to know.

Hurrah, Dd's appointment to see the paed came today, and it's on the 8th June.
Really surprised it's so soon as the g.p seemed to think we'd be waiting at least 2 mths.

Also had a letter confiming her reffereal for a hearing test, appointment to follow.

Yes, how is she now? Hopefully a bit better. Do let us know how the paed goes.

Nutcracker · 27/05/2004 21:12

She does seem to be a bit better at the mo. Nursery haven't written anything in her book for a while. She does still get tired but tbh i think thats more to do with her personality than anything else. She ia quite a lazy child and would gladly sit on the sofa all day if allowed.
She's till off her food a little and doesn't like the Minadex so i got her some more vits with iron in (she picked them so she'll eat them).

Am hoping that the paed will just give her a thorough checkup and confirm the docs suspicion of a virus thats taken a long time to dissapear.
