I was asked to start this, honest.

Come and share a sisterly cup of organic carrot juice and tell us why you love yours.

Love mine too.

Is it just me getting overly evangelical or do other (Moonies? Mooncuppers?) find that their period is shorter and even less painful? 'Cos I do.

threebob · 20/10/2006 09:55

It's the best $60 I ever spent. No seriously.

It's eliminated period pain (tampons made this worse), whilst also eliminating mess (pads).

IvortheEngine · 20/10/2006 10:00

Thanks for the post LemonTart. So a sink is desirable but not absolutely essential. Okay.

IvortheEngine · 20/10/2006 10:01

Another question. How do dds get on with mooncups? Should I get one for dd so that she can try it when the time comes along with pads and tampons?

Frizombie · 20/10/2006 10:21

I've just got one! now waiting for the return of my period.....finished bf 4 weeks ago, so shouldn't be long now!

lulumama · 20/10/2006 12:14

wow..thanks franny & everyone else

i am slowly coming around to the idea!

does it have a storage box for when not in use??

i have very light periods due to having the coil...is it still worthwhile??

thanks

NOMurDErousPLUME · 20/10/2006 12:20

I bought the wrong size. Chopped the tail off and then realised it was the wrong size, really peeved wasted £20

FrannyandZooey · 20/10/2006 12:21

Lulu it is so worthwhile

they are just dreamy

you get a little drawstring cotton bag to put it to bed in between cycles

OP posts:
lulumama · 20/10/2006 12:23

dreamy.....

eating a bar of mayan gold green & blacks chocolate is dreamy...

but liking the little sleeping bag....

Tatties · 20/10/2006 12:29

I love my mooncup I love not filling up my bin with tampons, and it is just so much cleaner. After the first day or so I have noticed my period is much lighter and so I don't really need to change it in public loos, I can usually wait until I get home. It is just brilliant. Is it me or am I seeing more and more mooncup appreciation threads as time goes on? More people going, "oh alright then, I'll give it a go.." and less people coming on to go ewww? I think it's great

FrannyandZooey · 20/10/2006 12:33

Lulu trust me

it makes the menstrual cycle a thing of beauty instead of just a big old stinky expensive painful yuck

OP posts:
lulumama · 20/10/2006 12:33

can it fly out of your hands and ping across the room?

Beafryd2veryafrydnervesleft · 20/10/2006 12:41

Hello, so glad this thread has reappeared as I went to buy said mooncup in Boots last week but found there was a model A and a model B. Had 5 years old DD with me and couldn't face all the questions I would need to answer if I looked any closer.

How do you know which you need?

Tatties · 20/10/2006 12:43

A is for those who have given birth vaginally or if you are over 30.

B is for those who haven't given birth vaginally or are under 30.

NOMurDErousPLUME · 20/10/2006 12:45

B is only for no vaginal birth (either C/S or no birth at all) and under 30.

Tatties, I am under 30 and have had a vaginal birth, I bought the wrong one, should have bought A

FrannyandZooey · 20/10/2006 12:47

Lulu, no, it is not like a diaphragm

it is just a little squooshy rubber thing

Beafryd2veryafrydnervesleft · 20/10/2006 12:47

Thanks Tatties
A lovely way to say big fanjo, little fanjo?

Tatties · 20/10/2006 13:04

Basically, Beafry, yes But actually there is only a few mm difference in them.

I am in the same category as you NDP, but got size A. How have you got on with B?

lulumama · 20/10/2006 13:06

think i am still thinking of it like a diaphragm........can you do it wrong and the flow misses it?

lulumama · 20/10/2006 13:07

big fanjo...little fanjo...that would be an interesting show on cbeebies!

squidette · 20/10/2006 13:14

I had not even heard of this mooncup 3 months ago.

Since then, i read about it here on mn, thought it was a joke, read some more, became interested enough to look at the website, lol-ed at the term 'mooncuppery' here, ordered one, waited for postman, unpacked it, gasped in horror for a bit, plucked up courage to try it, fiddled some and worried some, got a bit panicky the first time i couldnt get it out!!, relaxed, practised, sighed with relief.

This is my first full cycle since having my mirena coil removed and i can quite happily say that i love my mooncup. I even plucked up enough courage to chop the tail off and its much more comfy!

Hooray for mooncups!

FrannyandZooey · 20/10/2006 13:19

It's a viral marketing success story

TooTickyTheAppleBobber · 20/10/2006 13:22

Can I just sort of lurk? I don't have one yet as I don't need one atm, but will be buying a pre-emptive one soon....

MrsWednesday · 20/10/2006 13:25

I'm gradually falling in love with mine, but it's been a slow and steady progress. Last period was leak-free and I also managed to avoid the uncomfortable feeling I had the first time, so we're definitely getting there. I'm sure by the end of the next period we'll be deliriously happy together
