Essbee's DS in hospital.

You may or may not have spottedfrom another thread that Essbee's DS is in hospital with kawasaki disease. He still has a high temperature, is very tearful but being quite brave. His lips are still too sore to drink/talkbut they're trying to do without the IV drip so he's trying to take sips although even a straw is painful.

Should anyone fancy sending him something to cheer him up, (and having quizzed essbee) apparently the new version of "Shoot Out" cards is out now and he got quite into it last season - was gutted when the cards finished IIRC.

Yes, it will definitely help. And I'm not lying.

edam · 30/10/2006 23:40

Sorry it's not over yet Essbee, fingers crossed ds's temperature goes down of its own accord soon.

Flamebat · 31/10/2006 08:29

Yes it will - I dunno your history with your mum, but I'm guessing even someone you have a crappy relationship with being there will still give more breathing space than no-one iyswim.

How is he today? And you?

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 31/10/2006 08:40

Cutting it from 100 to 50 (and back) probably won't make much difference to the nose bleeds essbee. It's quite long-lasting as far as the platelet effect goes, around 3 days, so you maybe wouldn't notice any change in bleeding anyway. Dd's dose is 75mg (she's just 13, but skinny)and she has an almost permament slight nose bleed with the odd massacre like one trown in.

Maybe it's worth a trip to the hospital to put your mind at rest about the temps.

Hope the arrival of your mum takes away some anxiety rather than adding to it.

SoupDragon · 31/10/2006 12:28

Essbee's just texted me to say he's being re-admitted today

Is there anyone who lives nearby who could lend a hand?

LIZS · 31/10/2006 12:30

oh . no it is never ending isn't it. Sending positive vibes their way .....

Flamebat · 31/10/2006 13:50

Oh cr*p.

She's Londonish isn't she?

fennel · 31/10/2006 14:12

She's in Devon. there are one or two of us around but we're not managing to be of much practical use really . I am off to my sister in law's funeral later today so can't help Essbee really til I get back in a few days.

Flamebat · 31/10/2006 14:30

Why was I thinking London?

Is there anyone that can cook up a few meals for her freezer at all?

xena · 31/10/2006 14:34

oh essbee sorry to hear your still going through it

suedonim · 31/10/2006 14:35

Really sorry hear that Essbee's ds is back in hospital.

Tiggiwinkle · 31/10/2006 14:50

Oh no!

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 31/10/2006 15:31

Oh no - sorry to hear this Still, better to be safe than sorry and maybe he'll get his review Echo sooner.

pageturner · 31/10/2006 16:26

I'm close-ish: 15 miles/half an hour away. It's hard to know what practical help I can be but I've texted essbee to let her know I'm around if I can be of any help. It's such a shame: I saw them on Friday and thought he was looking a bit better, but it seemed to take a downward turn again.

More positive thoughts on their way, essbee. x

oh botheration. will text her.

Greensleeves · 31/10/2006 17:24

I'm in Exeter, but I don't have a car so I couldn't get to essbees . She has my mobile number/email though, if there's anything I can do.

So sorry things have gone downhill again, poor essbee.

sunchowder · 31/10/2006 17:39

So sorry to hear this Essbee, sending warm thoughts your way. I hope your son is feeling better soon.

Pinkchampagne · 31/10/2006 17:45

From what little she said, I think it's his temperature staying raised and the huge nosebleeds which means they wanted him back in.

So sorry to hear he's back in Essbee. Sorry to say I totally understand , I wish you lots of good stuff. Update us when you can and I'll keep watching, shout if I can help/share anything.....

How many lots of immunoglobulin has he had? Has he managed to eat anything? Are they monitoring his weight loss (I'm presuming he's unable to eat and losing weight)? If so, have they got a nutritionist on board to build him up with high calorie milk shake drinks (taste ok)?

Love to you xx.

SoupDragon · 01/11/2006 10:07

He's on a higher dose of aspirin, temperature is lower but nose bleeding and eyes red (both a result of the aspirin I think). Seeing ENT person today with a view to sorting out the nose.
