How is he this evening??

dinny · 05/09/2006 20:00

Am surprised NHS Direct weren't more concerned. Surely such a high pervasive temp with no upper respiratory symptoms is extremely worrying.

(Has GP taken a urine sample to rule out UTI? My ds had a v high temp last Xmas and it was only the third GP I saw (we were in middle of moving house) that did urine test.)

If he's still poorly this evening, think you must pop him to A&E to be seen by a paediatrician..? Whereabouts are you?

Just put him to bed after dose of nurofen. me and dp have already decided if it goes up like last night then we will go to a&e Queens med.
He has come out in sort of blotchy red spots they have passed the glass test but they are not raised and they cover his trunk and nappy area so am wondering weather its just viral.

measles?

chlochlo · 05/09/2006 21:07

He's had mmr?

OP posts:
dinny · 05/09/2006 22:03

doesn't mean he can't get it...

Here are the symptoms:

The first symptoms of measles are a feeling of being generally unwell, a runny nose, hacking cough, and red eyes, with a temperature as high as 40.6°C, and aches and pains. Children may also complain that bright light hurts their eyes. One identifying sign of measles is Koplik?s spots, which are small, red, irregularly-shaped spots with blue or white centres, which usually appear inside the mouth one to two days before the measles rash. A few days afterwards, the measles rash appears, usually on the head and neck first, and then spreading to cover all the body. It takes about three days for the rash to make its way down to the feet. The rash starts as small red spots, but these join together to make larger, flat patches of red or brown. The large, flat red or brown patches often flow into one another and completely cover the skin. The total amount of time for the rash from beginning to end is usually about six days.

LIZS · 05/09/2006 22:06

Red rash on body doesn't sound like Slapped Cheek - that is more feint and purply in a lacy on the torso and limbs , just more solid red on the face.

chlochlo · 06/09/2006 08:10

Rash still there this morning and has spread to one side of his face?? Temperature not bad last night but DS still didn't sleepat doctors at 12.

Cos once the nurofen kicks in he's a different child and you wouldn't believe there was anything wrong!
If you'd have seen him when dp came in from work he could hardly lift his head off setee, half an hour after nurofen he is bouncing off the walls
