Cow milk and pus.

Google 'cow milk pus'.
I dare you.

Milk is NOT all its cracked up to be. It's time we took this seriously.

Also I'm seeing more and more evidence to back up my hunch that the onset of my ds's type 1 diabetes is linked to his dairy intolerance.

It's time we woke up to the white stuff. Most people are in denial and won't even consider that it could be anything but a good wholesome drink.

Take your pick.

I'm not coming from an animal rights point of view at all so sorry not to accomodate that little predjudice.
No. I'm coming from a human rights point of view and you lot are pulling the wool over your own eyes. Barking.

We don't retain the ability to break down lactose beyond the age of 4. We're the only animals that drink other animals milk.

You'll all look back and say spidermama was right. I wish I'd listened to her and engaged my brain before guzzling this fatty, pussy large, smelly bovine animal's milk. The milk of this creature which is forced to produce way more than it should.

OP posts:
SenoraPostrophe · 26/08/2006 22:19

we're also the only animals who cook meat.

Spidermama · 26/08/2006 22:20

For your information senora, and because I crave your respect with every fibre of my being, I'm aware of the egg issues.

Since your so concerned with 'barbarity in the poultry industry' I assume you avoid all the produce thereof?

OP posts:
sorrell · 26/08/2006 22:21

Nobody said you were an animal rights activist. this is nothing to do with prejudice. I was merely pointing out - correctly - that the sites you recommend we look at are extreme vegan sites set up by vegan animal liberation activists. I think you will agree they are hardly neutral in their position. I've actually looked at a great deal of scientific research into milk, and that statements on those websites (eg 'milk is deadly poison' and 'milk is full of pus') simply are not true.

sorrell · 26/08/2006 22:22

Indeed, we are the only creatures who routinely drink another's milk. We are also the only creatures that eat cooked food, do operations on each other to cure illnesses and knit.

SenoraPostrophe · 26/08/2006 22:25

there's no need to be sarcy just because I disagree.

I dislike the way the poultry industry is run and I buy as ethically as I can/sign petitions and stuff, but yes I do eat eggs. But then I'm not asking anyone else to stop doing so am I?

Spidermama · 26/08/2006 22:26

Sorrell, milk enthusiasts aren't 'neutral' either. If any of us was neutral we'd be too bored to write websites about the subject, obviously.

I'm coming from the point of view of a mum who's trying to find out why her son has a deadly disease which means he must now take insulin for the rest of his life. I have strong suspicions that his dairy intolerance played a part.

I now know that milk caused my own immune system to go into overdrive from childhood until very recently causing my asthma and eczema.

Milk has a lot to answer for.

It's time you stopped being so ignorant and complicit in this majory cover up.

OP posts:
sorrell · 26/08/2006 22:27

As for not retaining the ability to break down lactose, that is true in many - most - people of African or Asian descent. However it is overwhelming NOT true of those of European descent, particularly Northern European descent. It is a matter of evolution and adaptation. In some African nations lactose intolerance is close to 100% but in Denmark it is around 2%.

SenoraPostrophe · 26/08/2006 22:27

yeah, and it's time you started just stating your case rather than being so offensive.

Spidermama · 26/08/2006 22:28

ME? Sarcy? Read back over your posts senora. Pot and kettle.

OP posts:
SenoraPostrophe · 26/08/2006 22:28

I said bollocks, as in those websites were bollocks. I haven't made any sarcy comments though.

sorrell · 26/08/2006 22:29

I am neither ignorant nor complicit, nor am I being insulting. I am obviously very sorry that your son has an illness. My child also has a lifelong condition. It doesn't mean that I don't, after a good deal of research, think those sites are promoting lies as propaganda.

CountTo10 · 26/08/2006 22:29

Have you got any case studies of anyone who has died or caught a life threatening illness that is directly related to a lifetime of drinking cows milk???

Have you also bothered to look at the various other sides of the argument from actual trained professionals especially those working with children??? The fact that only about 2% of the population suffering food intolerances and the fact that milk contains more than just calcium and that soya based products are not all they are cracked up to be especially for kids??? There's a reason you have to seek medical advice for putting your child on a soya diet.

As for the line about not knowing other sources of calcium of course there I know there are and I'm sensible enough to partake in all of them as the idea of a balanced diet is just that - balanced. These groups are simply scaremongering. Its a known fact that food group elimination can be as dangerous as the foods you seem to think should be eliminated.

I don't need educating about anything thank you as I've been bought up with the ability to make my own mind up by judging both sides and seperating fact from hysterical fiction.

And by the way - that was a genuine question in my original post so once you've got down off your high horse perhaps you can answer it????

Spidermama · 26/08/2006 22:29

Oh Sorrell. That's just because the Danes have continued to drink the stuff forcing their body into making unnatural things which break down the proteins.

OP posts:
Joolstoo · 26/08/2006 22:30

good grief!

I recommend

a nice cup of cocoa

sorrell · 26/08/2006 22:31

And I'm not quoting 'milk enthusiasts'. I've looked at proper peer revied studies. Including those which link milk consumption with LOWER rates of asthma.

Spidermama · 26/08/2006 22:31

Perhaps pompous rather than sarcy then senora.

eg:
'evidently you are prepared to put up with the barbarity that is the poultry industry, but not the dairy industry'

and the even more blunt, 'oh bollocks, spidermama'.

Pot and kettle.

OP posts:
SenoraPostrophe · 26/08/2006 22:32

joolstoo.

you are right.

sorrell · 26/08/2006 22:32

like this one:
study

BrookeandTaylorsmummy · 26/08/2006 22:32

I recommend a large glass of wine and some chill out music, preferably classical chillout I have the cd if anyone wants it?

SenoraPostrophe · 26/08/2006 22:34

well you said sarcy. and at least I haven't insulted your intelligence or questioned your motives.

the articles are bollocks though. and i still don't see why you have it in for milk so much rather than other farming industries.

sorrell · 26/08/2006 22:35

OK, so our ancestors 'forced' their bodies to produce enzymes that digest lactose. So now we can! Ergo, the vast majority of the population are not lactose intolerant and can digest it. This is contrary to your assertion that nobody over the age of four can digest milk.

sorrell · 26/08/2006 22:36

And the websites are bollocks. They really are.

Spidermama · 26/08/2006 22:37

Counto10 you're stuck in a thought loop despite your best intentions.
I didn't mention soya milk. Why do you assume that those who stop drinking milk have to replace it with a like substance.

Calcium isn't about how much of it you eat, but how much you can absorb at any given time and that depends on how the other elements in your diet are balanced.

The following are excellent sources of calcium ..

Broccoli, dark green leafy veg, tofu, some nuts and seeds, beans and pulses.

I remain firmly in the high horse saddle Mrs. Rude and will do until you read some more and consider you may just have been misinformed all these years.

OP posts:
Spidermama · 26/08/2006 22:38

All 126,000 of them are bollocks eh sorrell.
Wow! You've got it bad haven't you?
