sitting in the doctors and panicking :-(

Sitting in a two hour wait to see a doctor. No kids today, no work, hence coming and not waiting to try and get my gp this week.

I am shitting it.

Boyfriend and I have been together since last summer. All very happy and healthy etc

Spent last weekend together. Lots of sex. Oral and penetrative. we have a lot of oral sex tbh.

I got sore (not unusual tbh) but by yesterday was still bad. Got thrush treatment. Nothing has changed.

Only I now have a sore patch which has split by my perinium (sp?) and two or three blister spots.

I am crapping my pants. Google is not my friend.

Two hour wait is not helping.

He is also out of the country till next week with bad signal (though have text a couple of bits)

I've caught something haven't I? But neither of us have any visible symptoms of anything, and we have been careful with past partners etc.

ah man, it is taking all of my effort not to cry in the waiting room or walk out. Been half hour, only ninety minutes to go. Or walk out. :-(

I will look into tea tree oil today then, and spend the afternoon in the bath I think!

I know it can lay dormant, but with a bad primary infection its usually 4-7 days post, which would tie in with last weekend. This is also the first guy ive had oral sex with. I guess it depends on whether hsv1 or 2 comes back positive.

Have you pooed yet? You don't want to be getting constipated on top of that. Could you get some lactulose to try to ease things there?

Shamoy · 09/04/2014 08:12

Second the tea tree oil in the bath. Hope you feel better very soon

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 09/04/2014 08:24

Wrt natural yoghurt-you need plain LIVE yoghurt, own brand fat free stuff is unlikely to that.

Tbh I wouldn't put anything on yourself atm until you know what it is.

SolomanDaisy · 09/04/2014 08:31

Have you tried metanium? It is very effective. I doubt it will do anything for the blisters, but it might soothe some of the irritated skin around them and give you a bit of relief.

candycoatedwaterdrops · 09/04/2014 08:35

Plain live yoghurt on a tampon is very good for thrush. Due to being on immune suppressing drugs, I get it very often and very badly. However, even if it's not thrush, plain live yoghurt is still good and helps encourage the good bacteria. I was told this by a very experienced and well regarded gynae so it definitely can't hurt.

Sounds very similar to what happened to my sister. When she was younger she suddenly developed very painful symptoms like yours, which were initially put down to thrush. When things worsened the diagnosis was changed to shingles. The pain increased to the point she was hospitalised on a morphine drip, she was properly tested and a diagnosis of herpes simplex 1 was made. So oral rather than genital herpes, but infecting the genitals. All a bit confusing as her only sexual partner tested negative, but it is such a ubiquitous virus that it could have been contracted in any one of many ways. Anyway, that was ten years ago and she's never had anything like that since. God, I just remembered she was so swollen she had to be catherterised and was in hospital for quite a few days. Sounds like you're on the mend now OP, or at least heading in the right direction. As others have said, don't attach any sort of stigma to herpes - my sister was a teenager living at home who'd just got her first boyfriend. And she's fine now! Regarding what to put on the area: Weleda Nappy Cream is amazing. No potentially irritating petrochemicals, contains calendula which is anti viral and promoted healing, and zinc which helps speed up new skin growth.

Purplehonesty · 09/04/2014 09:03

Oh goodness that sounds just awful. I sometimes gets split down there after too much sex and it gets really sore if I wash with shower gel.
I have to use baby soap all the time now or it gets really irritated. Here's hoping yours was just a split that got infected.

VelmaD · 09/04/2014 09:21

Ok, so live yogurt. I have read its good to eat it too so might try that at least.

Tea tree oil. Hadn't thought of metanium, germoline is helping as much as it can right now so will keep with that for today.

Missplum, sounds so similar - especially the shingles question and then hsv1. I hope I dont end up in hospital, simply as a single parent it would be awful I can pee ok through gritted teeth so far - if that changes I will be straight back to doctor though.

Nope, no poo. To be fair ive only eaten one meal and a snack each day since Saturday. And taking codeine each night (just one 30mg but still) I dont feel constipated or ill - if I haven't gone by tonight ill take lactolose overnight. Tbh lack of caffeine probably doesn't help - I drink a lot of tea every day and when I cut that out before I got constipated, but really can't stomach tea right now.

What about sudocrem? Best thing ever!
Poor you op and you poor foof :(

VelmaD · 09/04/2014 09:23

Purple I react to every kind of soap there is other than sanex 0% hypo stuff. I've got thrush from boyfriend using soap on himself before. So I know im sensitive anyway, its an ongoing joke. This is a bit more extreme though! And a reaction would have started to die down surely?

OP posts:
VelmaD · 09/04/2014 09:24

QOD the gp actually advised against sudocrem, saying its useless in this situation and Savlon or germoline would be better. Suprised me, I thought sudocrem was the cure for everything!

OP posts:
MissPlumBroughtALadder · 09/04/2014 09:31

No, Weleda Nappy Cream is the cure for everything!

VelmaD · 09/04/2014 09:37

weleda nappy cream. Right I am on it. When I take the children to the supermarket later for food, bribe and cake I shall hunt it down!

OP posts:
MissPlumBroughtALadder · 09/04/2014 10:17

Waitrose sell it, or a health food shop. Truly fixes everything :)

VelmaD · 09/04/2014 10:29

We dont have either of those nearby :-( do morrisons or sainsburys or a chemist like Lloyds sell it do you think?

I feel sore today from that patch, but I can walk. And although sitting is uncomfortable, if I cross my legs its not agony. I feel a little less swollen too, just taken more aspirin which seems to be helping (allergic to ibruprofen, codeine for night only as knocks me out, so using aspirin and paractemol in the day)

OP posts:
VelmaD · 09/04/2014 10:30

Oh and ive just managed tea and toast. This is an achievement for me in the last few days. I dont usually eat bread, but fancied it and tbh need to eat! Boyfriend bought me a Chinese Monday night to make sure I ate then too.

OP posts:
candycoatedwaterdrops · 09/04/2014 12:32

Velma All soaps irritate me too. I use dermol and my skin is so much healthier too.

VelmaD · 09/04/2014 12:44

I've managed a shower and got my granny pants on and slathers of cream and my disgusting leggings and I feel almost human. Everything is clearly still swollen and sore but no where near what it was. I am worried that it will never go down in places (stupid mirror trick) but im sure it will - the difference in last twelve hours is amazing.

Off to treat the kids to cake and DVD for being v. Good and scour out some of these suggestions.

Im feeling better emotionally too. If its herpes its herpes. We've dealt with this, I can deal with more.

OP posts:
VelmaD · 09/04/2014 16:03

I pooed! And it wasn't too bad.

I used huggies pure wet wipes. I can confirm they are indeed just like cotton wool and water, they were bloody lovely and I now have a pack next to the toilet.

Fluffy101 · 09/04/2014 20:19

When I had my son my midwife advised freezing / refrigerating a sanitary towel and wearing that to numb any pain from stitches ...that may work?

VelmaD · 09/04/2014 23:24

Ooh that's certainly something to try tomorrow.

All in all a better day, but I can still tell when painkillers have run out. I have avoided cream tonight too - I have one patch which is the sorest and keeping it wet doesn't seem to be doing it any favours (its the one that was swabbed so think it was aggrevated more) so going to try no cream overnight. Trying to remember five of one pill, three of another and pain killers each day is a mission!

I have aciclover until sunday. If it does turn out to be herpes and its not cleared up a lot by Friday when I speak to gp is it worth asking for another dose? Antibiotics (which also are against skin infections which is good considering the state of down there) last till Tuesday am.

Going to ask if I can get lidocaine is it on prescription?

Actually, I bought the purple vagisil cream today and im sure that has it - is it worth a try or will it sting like fuck?

OP posts:
DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 09/04/2014 23:40

Iirc you just ask for lidocaine over the counter but not sure. My ds used it when he was circumcised. Iirc my Dh just got it from the chemist.

Snargaluff · 09/04/2014 23:45

It does sound like herpes to me. If it is, please do believe me when I say it is not a big deal. If it's hsv1, you may never get another outbreak and they will not be as painful as your current.

Cooled, wet tea bags on your bits will help. Lots of painkillers.

Snargaluff · 09/04/2014 23:49

If it is herpes I wouldn't bother with aciclovir- my gp said it reduces symptoms by 24 hours max, so he didn't really bother prescribing it unless caught v quickly.

I just remembered that a cold bottle of water held against bits at night helped as well. Dry, but cool, as wet didn't help.
