sitting in the doctors and panicking :-(

Sitting in a two hour wait to see a doctor. No kids today, no work, hence coming and not waiting to try and get my gp this week.

I am shitting it.

Boyfriend and I have been together since last summer. All very happy and healthy etc

Spent last weekend together. Lots of sex. Oral and penetrative. we have a lot of oral sex tbh.

I got sore (not unusual tbh) but by yesterday was still bad. Got thrush treatment. Nothing has changed.

Only I now have a sore patch which has split by my perinium (sp?) and two or three blister spots.

I am crapping my pants. Google is not my friend.

Two hour wait is not helping.

He is also out of the country till next week with bad signal (though have text a couple of bits)

I've caught something haven't I? But neither of us have any visible symptoms of anything, and we have been careful with past partners etc.

ah man, it is taking all of my effort not to cry in the waiting room or walk out. Been half hour, only ninety minutes to go. Or walk out. :-(

I know. Previous people have now come out. Not been called yet.

Good luck. If it is herpes it could be something a simple as an ex had a cold sore and, erm, passed it on

GemmaPomPom · 06/04/2014 13:35

And herpes can remain dormant for literally years. So, even it if it this, you could have had it for ages and not known. And you may never get another attack.

And if it's anything nastier, you can get antibiotics to clear it up.

allisgood1 · 06/04/2014 13:37

It sounds like a bad case of thrush, but I have no first hand experience. Good luck OP!

VelmaD · 06/04/2014 13:51

Apparently I have a horrific urine infection I knew nothing about. This has caused the outside infection and sores he thinks - he is fairly sure it is nothing more sinister, but has said to see my own gp at end of the week if they're still bad. He's also advised another urine test in five days as its particularly bad.

He said it is still possible to be something else, but unlikely - and they are more like spots/blisters than the clusters in herpes. Im also not unwell, and its not a bad case which first cases usually are.

So wait and see. Nearly cried. Still shaky now. And crossingy fingers he is indeed right and its just urine infection.

GemmaPomPom · 06/04/2014 13:59

That sounds like good news, Velma. I am assuming he did a urine test and that would tell him that that was what it was.

You might be a little bit run down as well, by the sounds of it.

Take care of yourself x

VelmaD · 06/04/2014 14:12

Yes, urine test and examination. He seemed almost shocked by my sample and has given me antibiotics for acute infections. Feel a lot more relaxed now for sure!

Glad you're feeling better. I knew exactly how you felt!

VelmaD · 06/04/2014 19:54

Thanks legs. Boyfriend ringing me later. Of course im still winding myself up that it could still be herpes, but ive only taken one antibiotic tablet so its not going to be getting better yet! Im coated in sudocrem and trying to drink water and cranberry juice to flush it through, but dont want to pee! My whole undercarraige feels bruised and swollen and sore and its obvious my glands are trying to fight something now.

I just want it to go now!

You poor thing! Hope you feel better soon.

MILLYmo0se · 06/04/2014 19:59

ah good on you for going ahead with the G.P., hope it all clears up soon. P.S., you offically deserve a big treat (like an entire chocolate cake ) after all you've gone through today !

VelmaD · 06/04/2014 20:01

Milly, the kids and I had KFC and chocolate for dinner for that exact reason :-)

footballagain · 06/04/2014 20:04

Don't drink cranberry juice! It's too late for that.

Lots and lots of water. A glass with bicarbonate of soda in now and then will be beneficial.

VelmaD · 06/04/2014 20:08

Ok water it is. Stupidly my water consumptin is normally so so high, but this last week suffered and was replaced by coffee due to work deadlines. Seeing a pattern here.

I will drink pints and pints of the stuff. Bicarb of soda? I dont have any, and not planning on going anywhere tomorrow tbh, but will keep that in mind thank you.

I have a pack of cold wet wipes next to the toilet so am trying pressing them against my bits when I pee and it is working. I actually sighed with relief when I put the sudocrem on.

I can tell something is off now - I usually drink and pee for England (ongoing joke I have a nana bladder) but ive been so little in last couple of days. Part psychological part infection I guess.

Im just hoping by Tuesday this starts to be a distant dream and not that im back there Friday being diagnosed with something more sinister :-/

Fill a sports bottle with warm water, and squirt yourself when doing a wee, had to do this after episiotomy stitches opened ip again and pain was horrific down there, the squirty bottle really helped,

Glad its not something sinister, but take it as a warning and go with your bf for full check up at a sti clinic, best peace of mind you can give yourself,

VelmaD · 06/04/2014 20:30

Mmmbacon, we have both been cleared in the past - but as someone said upthread, herpes doesn't come up in screenings and can lay dormant for years. Seems if it is that we are just unlucky. I will be asking him on the phone later about cold sores etc - ill tell him everything because we talk well

I find warm water with salt added to be especially soothing in these types of situations.
Also recommend 'multi-gyn actigel' for preventing and treatment of sensitivity of the delicate areas.

VelmaD · 07/04/2014 11:21

Multi-gyn actigel? Where can I get this?

Had a horrific night. So sore I cried loads. But peeing is now easier and taking strong codiene at four am when I knew the kids were definitely asleep knocked me out for three hours. And this morning ive managed to shower and feel a bit better.

The swelling is going down. There is one patch that is still so sore, but im trying to leave it be to heal - and it does feel like it could be starting to.

Boyfriend was lovely. Really lovely. He's going to try and get back early tonight to swing by for an hour before I go to bed, but even if not his phone call last night and messages helped - whether its more serious than a Uti or not I know I have his love and support which makes me feel a lot better.

Suzannewithaplan · 07/04/2014 11:31

I think boots stock it, their website should tell you if your local branch has it. I last bought it on amazon, pretty sure a google will throw up lots of possibilities

VelmaD · 07/04/2014 11:36

Just found it, looks similar to something I used before for bv which came in little applicator packs and I found good

I've tried the no cream approach today after a couple of days of antifungal cream and sudocrem. Im wondering if the cream is preventing healing? Is there a healing cream I can use on those sensitive parts does anyone know? I have a Savlon advanced healing gel but not sure I should be putting it on my perinium?

OP posts:
Suzannewithaplan · 07/04/2014 11:52

I don't know about the savalon, but I've used small amounts of vinegar in water to rinse with, for the slightly acid ph.

Best way to rinse I find is to sit on the toilet and pour water from a jug.

Hope you feel better soon.

VelmaD · 07/04/2014 12:07

I admit the burning when peeing has died right down, though there is still a bit of pain, positioning myself leaning forwards helps.

I've drunk what feels like a gallon of water too. And I am cutting sugar back out of my diet as that has played a part too I think.
