Glad it went ok, how did hubby cope ?

Did they do,it keyhole ?

Report
LackaDAISYcal · 06/04/2014 21:02

yes, keyhole assisted.

hubby coped admirably. Or if he didn't, at least I wasn't here to see it Grin

I am pissed off at him though as he didn't bring me any flowers in hospital, nor were there any waiting for me at home. But, he hoovered, dusted and cleaned the loo Hmm

Glad it went well, Daisy Smile Thanks

How did you feel few hours after the op? I'm wondering if it's worth having DP come or will I be totally out of it.

Shewhowines, I've replied to your PM.

Grin

winny, DH and DS1 came in to see me at 2pm, so I had been back on the ward a couple of hours and I was completely out of it. I was sitting up and talking to them but kept drifting in and out of consciousness and apparently one eye was on them and the other was on the door Grin. My throat was dry and I remember asking for a sweet, which I promptly choked on as I drifted off again. They only stayed for ten minutes as I was so out of it and not making any sense as well as being unbearably a little bit grumpy Blush

DH came back at 6pm with DD and DS2, and though I was a bit more compus mentus, I was still pretty out of it and feeling pretty sick, which I was, all over the bed and myself, so they didn't stay long either!

In hindsight, the DC should have stayed away till Saturday afternoon and DH till the evening visiting hours.

I was in bed for 9.30 last night and managed to sleep till 6am without waking up...and still went back to sleep at 9 for another hour or so. I am so unbelievably tired. Been up since just after 10 and ready for my afternoon nap now I think. I've managed to putter around and make a cup of tea and then a sandwich for my lunch, but that's me done in. I should try and get out for a bit of a walk, at least to the end of the cul-de-sac now the sun is shining...but not sure I have the energy.

I should add that by 9pm, I was drinking tea and eating toast, so it took me a good 10 hours to get to some semblance of being fully awake!

Hmm I'll remember that when I have my op then daisy lol. How are you feeling today ??

I had my appointment with my suregon, and she is doing my surgery as soon as possible, but because they need the other 2 surgeons there too, it could take 6-8 weeks. Could be sooner though.

I am having a total hysterectomy, so removal of womb, ovaries, tubes and cervix. They said that they can see from my mri that my bowel and bladder are very stuck to everything else and so it will be complicated surgery. Ending up with a permanent colostomy bag, is the worst case scenario. If I need one at all, it should be temporary.
I might also need a catheter for about 10 days if the bladder is damamged.

Oh and to help them not cause any damage, I am going to have stents inserted into the tubes from my kidneys to my bladder ( i think), and these will be removed 6 weeks after surgery.

They didn't say anything that I wasn't expecting, but i still feel a bit like someone has slapped me again.

total hysterectomy is the womb and cervix, bilateral salpingo oophorectomy is the tubes and ovaries, so i had bilateral salpingectomy as they left my oophs Grin

I feel OK having just had a two hour nap! I got up about ten today and puttered a bit, but felt crushingly tired about 2.30 so went back to bed and only got up half an hour ago.

I am still getting referred pain in my shoulder from the wind...the wind Shock Definitely the worst part of the op! Paracetomol and ibuprofen are working OK for me, but I'm desperate for them when the four/eight hour mark comes round! If I'm still like that tomorrow, I'm going to call the docs and ask for something stronger.

I have made a bit of a cocoon in bed with pillows, so I am as comfortable as possible, which is making a big difference.

I hope that they manage to unstick everything without any damage nutcracker; imo they usually do, but have to give you the worst outcome, just in case! Hopefully it'll come through quickly for you.

daisy good to hear you're coping well.

I had physio again today. She's going to attempt to contact the Dr I've been referred to for my 2nd opinion to try and speed it up. I have my own consultant this month but I'd really like to see the urogyn to discuss whether there are other options for me with or without mesh.

winny, hope it went well today and wasn't too unpleasant.

flouncy, I hope things get going for you quickly; the waiting is definitely the worst.

well, my doorbell went at 8pm last night, and it was my sister and her family; she had a few days off work and thought I needed a hug...they live 250 miles away!! Just the medicine I needed Grin. I had just come off the phone with my other sister, who knew they were en-route, but didn't say a word! So, rather than taking things easy, we went out to a local museum today, and though I sat in the cafe for an hour, I got bored and had a wee pootle around. Felt a bit sore after that so sis took me home (with her DH who is waiting on a knee op) and left my Dh with five children ranging from 14 to 5! Bless him!! Then, I cooked three separate curries and rice for 9 people! I'm feeling surprisingly good tonight, but I suspect tomorrow will be a bit of a wipe out. It was good to get out and about though and feel almost normal.

I'm even having a wee glass of Wine this evening, but just the one!

Wow your superwoman Daisy ! Hope your getting spoilt today after your hard work. I'm praying I can have keyhole surgery.
I'm going to see my chiropractor today. My neck needs some attention and she is going to show me some core muscle excersizes to do too. Smile

I'm suffering today though. Up in the night to take painkillers and can't straighten up today. Ah, well, they did warn me, but I just wanted to do something normal (and when I said cooking, Dsis chopped and I stirred before adding a jar of sauce then left to simmer...not quite a full evening service at La Gavroche!)

But, I am resting today...DH, DSis, DBiL, DC and DN's orders!

Is anyone around? Pain has been getting worse throughout today, and I now have a burning, stitch like pain on the left of my abdomen when I try and move and I've had to take myself off to bed. Feeling pretty grotty and maxed out on the paracetomol and ibuprofen.

Not sure whether to call the OOH docs or to wait and see how I am tomorrow? Stupid cow Sad

Sounds like an infection. TBH there seems to be more of us who have had infections than those who haven't. It seems to the norm rather than the exception. Ring ooH. The quicker you start treating, the quicker you will be better.

LackaDAISYcal · 09/04/2014 19:52

thanks she Smile I have taken my temp and it's normal, and though I feel a bit headachy, the pain in my abdomen is only when I move; if I lie still it feels fine. Would an infection not cause constant pain?

Maybe you've just overdone it and pulled something then. See how you get on, but bear in mind that loads have had infections. I was lucky and didn't but read back through the thread and read others experiences of infections. Thanks

winny I hope that you are back in the ward now and everything went well with your op this morning. Welcome to the recovery sofa. Thanks

LackaDAISYcal · 09/04/2014 20:28

Oh, yes! I hope you are doing OK winny and aren't in too much pain.

Took temp again and it was 37.5 so up slightly. I've read that this is common when the body is trying to heal though, so not too worried. I've barely moved off the chair/bed today so we'll see how I feel tomorrow.

Having a restorative chinese takeaway soon; that'll help Wink

Been in bed all day pizza. Saw the doctor this morning; he is happy there is no infection and agreed that I may just have overdone things. So, I have some stronger painkillers and to call back or OOH over the weekend if there is no improvement. He said that a week post LAVH I should be starting to move around more, not less.

Got up to have some dinner and the pain is as bad as ever; after 2 30mg codiene tablets on top of the paracetomol and brufen.

Feeling very down in the dumps Sad

Winny, I hope you're OK Thanks
