I'm being 'cut open' (not sure of the correct term either). I've got the nighties and big pantsGrin I know there should be loads of questions that I need to ask at my pre-op, but can't think of any.......

Not thought of knickers, bought some new sexy ones last week for my doctors appointment (DH couldn't understand why, must be a woman thing)

Presumably if taking it all out sun roof I won't "bleed" or will I need maternity towels ?

Well you bleed after a c section pizza, so maybe.

I just had a good cry in the bath. Don't feel much better for it, but it had to come out lol.

My brother, who is not touchy feely, or anything like that, txt me to tell me he loved me and was always there for me. Sad

from what I've read there will be bleeding, but not as heavy as a period. However I haven't read much.... I'm sure someone who has been through it will be along soon

I had a cry on Saturday when she told me I have to have a biopsy before I have the op. I was so geared up to her giving me a date then she comes out with this Argh ....... just to make sure there is nothing untoward going on to cause your irregular periods. Hello I have endometriosis , have had for 15 years that's why I need the op Angry Angry sorry rant over !!

LackaDAISYcal · 01/04/2014 08:36

yes, bit of bleeding, but as they are removing the thing that "makes" periods, nothing like it really. At least I'm hoping!

I have been told of the possibility of bowel.bladder damage due to adhesions from previous surgeries. I think it's a risk that they have to tell you about, though with endo the risk will be greater I assume. There was a whole load of them on the consent form, the last one being death Shock. But my consultant told me that he hasn't "lost one yet on the table" How reassuring Hmm

With endo, do they remove the endo from the pelvic cavity as well or just leave it insitu? I assume with endo, if the womb and ovaries are removed, the trigger that makes the endo flare up is removed, therefore it won't cause any pain any longer?

Yes that's correct Daisy though she said they will leave my overies depending on the amount. I've had it for 15 years now. I bled all through Dec and havnt had a proper period since just getting all the symptoms Sad pissed off with it all now.

Hello all. I had hysterectomy and ovary removal about 17 yrs ago now. It was due to a massive fibroid. Which initially they thought was a tumour luckily it wasnt. But as to blood loss after the op,I can't remember there being much blood loss but there was a lot of dead tissue coming away after the op. I was terrified at the time but am glad to report it was nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be. Was tearful about the 4thday after the op, but each day I felt a bit better certainly felt almost normal after 4 weeks although I still had to be careful. I was cut across the bikini line. And I had 12 weeks off work. Hope this can reassure some of you

How is everyone ??

I had a call from the hospital today. They have decided that an endo specialist will do my surgery, not the gynae oncologist, as he is as sure as he can be that it's not cancer.

I am going to meet my surgeon on monday morning and possibly have my pre-op too.

Ooh that's good news nuts ...

I'm off tomorrow For a scan not sure if I'll know anything more after it till next week. On the plus side I've managed to tell 2 people today without crying !!!

I hate how you have scans and things and then have to wait to see someone later for the results.

Hope it goes ok pizza.

Or not waiting...I came home this evening to a message on the machine saying that there had been a cancellation and would I consider having my op this Friday! ConfusedShock[scared]

My heart starts racing every time I think about it. Spoke to DH, he thinks we should wait till 14th as planned (bearing in mind I haven't had a letyter confirming that yet) because, in this order...

A) he has a stinking cold and his asthma is bad and he'll struggle with the DC
B) it'll give me chance to get the house in order, ready for him to look after the kids
C) I'll have less time post Op with the kids on holiday from school.

At least one of the reasons was for my benefit Hmm. I'm tempted to say it's a fait accomplis and Friday it is...except I'm not sure I'm mentally prepared for that! Can't even decide on the ovary conundrum yet!

Strangely enough I bought all my toiletries and a couple fo new nighties yesterday, so apart from this messy place, I'm good to go!

Of course, they may have offered it to someone else since I didn't get the message till after close of business...

Crikey Daisy! What a decision.....must be tempting to just go for it, but you do need to be mentally prepared for it. Good luckThanks

I think the 2 weeks without the kids during the day would swing it for me....

I'll still have the kids at home for four/five days after getting home if I have the op on the 14th. That doesn't worry me, as DH will just have to take them out so I can rest. I'm wondering if having the op on a FRiday will mean an extra couple of days before being discharged?

I think if the slot is still available, I'll take it. On the grounds that it's cancer and the sooner it's out the better. I'm not going to get a lot of sleep tonight Confused

Think of it as 2 weeks quicker for you to be up and running, in a way it's 2 weeks less worrying about it

Report
LackaDAISYcal · 02/04/2014 23:20

well quite; if I have it on FRiday; yes I'll be laid up through the school holidays, but it means that I should be able for the afternoon pick up when they go back on the 22nd...it's only a five minute walk along a pretty level route.

And it'll do DH the world of good to have to deal with the kids for two weeks in a row...feck knows I do about 9 weeks a year single handled through the day and then go out to paid work in the evenings as well!
