OK...it's happening tomorrrow! DH is majorly pissed off. Wailed "but I don't feel well" I wailed back "but I have cancer" that shut him up. He'll cope. DS1 is still poorly, DS2 was up puking in the night...he'll cope. Feck knows I do it often enough!

Right...quick tidy up and bag packing time!

I think that's the best option, I'm already worrying about the actual op, the anaesthetic etc , bringing it forward misses a lot of this :-)

And you're right he can bloody cope, we have to !

Blimey Daisy, what a rollercoaster. Sometimes it's better this way, because it gives you less time to think about it.

Dd1 was due spinal surgery last April, and when we went along for a routine check up in the Feb, they said they'd had a cancellation, so did she want the surgery the following week. It was scary, and a mad rush to get things organised, but that kind of kept us busy enough to not think about the surgery too much.

Wishing you lots and lots of luck xx

With the kids off and everything - do not push yourself to do too much. You will only do yourself damage. Rest, rest, and more rest.

Hello, can I join you?
Good luck for tomorrow, Daisy Thanks
I've been diagnosed with invasive cervical adenocarcinoma two weeks ago and am having hysteroctomy and sentinel nodes removal next Wednesday. Totally bricking it, never had surgery before and obviously v. apprehensive about the results and them getting everything out. I'm 34 so also the idea of being biologically redundant is playing on my mind as well.
Anyway, a lot of wine has been had tonight so I shall stop right here before descending into a self-pitying rant Grin

flouncy I feel for you; Having to wait that long really su*ks :( and not being able to look after your ds by yourself doubly so. I'm looking at getting a student in for a couple of hours a day, mainly to do the washing, vacuuming and prepping dinner. DH is happy to take care of dinners but then we'll probably limited to pie & mash, pizza, corn fritters, bacon & eggs and sausages etc. as nice as that sounds I also like 'that green stuff' LOL Grin

Had to move my op back by 2 weeks due to 'work conflict', which means I won't be fit to travel when I had planned to. But still trying to look at the bright side... that way I don't have to stress whether I'll be fit enough to travel... how to tell the family overseas? I had warned them that I might not be fit, but now it's a definite I won't be fit... I'll sweeten the deal that we'll instead be coming over December/January and for longer...

finally caught up with the thread 'thanks' to throttled internet not everything came up when I osted earlier...

Good luck Lackadaisy! Thanks And tell your husband to grow up Grin, he can have his turn at looking after the kids. And if he's not feeling all that great, it's a good opportunity to snuggle up with the kids and watch a DVD or 2 ;). I've already warned my kids that they will have to help run the household, but then again dd is 12 and ds is 9 so they are semi capable if I kick them enough ;). See you here in a week or 2!

My op has been pushed back by 2 weeks due to work commitments, but the way I'm currently feeling I wish it was tomorrow!

Hi winnybella - can't comment on the cancerous side of the op, but surgery itself isn't that bad. I've been through a few and, I know it's easier said than done, but going into it in a semi-relaxed state, actually makes it easier. I've got a good book I'll be reading whilst waiting to be rolled in to distract me.

My only problem with pre-op is the fasting as I get rather cranky, but I warn the nurses beforehand Grin. I'm more the type that stresses about if everything being in place for childcare, school pick-ups, begging favours, getting dh organised and keeping him calm as he's a bit more short tempered with the kids; so I'll have to be the disembodied voice of reason from the sofa... [note to self: need to get objects I can throw at them to diffuse situation...]

And need to start my shopping list. Love the 'big pants' comments, I'm one of the I already wear big pants as well ;); and also need to find some nighties, though what I've seen in the shops so far (on the affordable end) is either rather revealing/unpractical or rather grandma and ... pink! I don't do pink! LOL

thanks flouncy wrong country for me ;) I'm in Oz. I've got 6 weeks to find something so here's hoping, or I'll be pretty in pink Grin

Mine are from Mataram - cost £6 each, which I could just about tolerate as I will only be wearing them for the hospital stay - hate bed clothes ... Don't look too bad /old

LOL pizza, I found some today at K-mart, they're more the baggy oversized long t-shirt type, so I can live with that. Bought them a size too big to allow for expansion during 6 weeks of doing nothing Grin Blush

Report
gingeme · 06/04/2014 09:16

I was going to suggest Mattalan too as that's where I bought mine from. Shall be passing them on to my Mum after. She's one of the few people I know who still wears them. I'm already a big nicker wearer so no need to buy any more. Jusy waiting for the date for my biopsy and then hopefully a date for my op.
With you on the no eating crankiness. Oh dear better warn the nurses too. Another short tempered DH here as far as my boys are concerned . Though my 9(10) next week is usually pretty good at diffusing situations Grin . I hope your doing well Daisy Thanks .

I'm also on the hunt for nice nighties. Asda just had pink or lilac ones Confused

I'm going to try Primark I think.

How are you feeling winnie ? Have you got everything organised.

I was told to just bring a few of DP's t- shirts and a pair of tracksuit bottoms. All the nighties that I saw in the shops were hideous.
Nutcracker- my mum came to stay so I trust between her and DP they'll manage very well.
I've sort of resigned myself to the fact of surgery, although I'm still terrified of it. But it's the fear of cancer having had spread that is the worst. Scans say that it hasn't but...We won't know til they biopsy the lot they'll remove.
I also have to go in Tuesday to have radioactive substance and blue dye injected into the cervix so that they can pick out the sentinel nodes during the op. That'll be fun Hmm
When is your op?

Helloooo Smile

I'm home, with ovaries intact! I tried to update from my phone, but I couldn't get a mobile network in the hopsital and the bedside TV/internet things was too clunky and making me ache reaching up to touch the screen;

All went well, they did a total LAVH and bilateral salpingectomy (fallopian tubes) Back at clinic in two weeks for my results. They left my ovaries, but I had to face off two consultants and a registrar to get them to agree to it. They are testing the fallopian tubes though as they said that they now believe that ovarian cancer actually starts in the tubes.

Had a horrible day pre-op, felt marginally better yesterday and todat feel almost human, but I am soooooo tired. I have lupus as well so the combination is a bit of a killer. I'm taking it as easy as I can though.

On the subject of nighties, I bought some new ones, but only wore one as I was in hospital gown and then hospital nightie, the first night. I got this really nice one in ASDA and a two pack in Sainsbos that are nice too. Not frumpy and granny at all. I'm glad I packed my pj legs as well though as it was fecking cold in there overnight.

So, I'm home with brufen and paracetomol and some heperin to inject for a few more days. My woulds are tiny, but I am covered in bruises and look 9 months pregnant!

Let the recovery commence!

Oh, and as well as jumping the queue by getting offered a cancellation slot, I was just being booked in when my consultant came and said they had moved me to the top of the list, so it was a mad rush to get all the paperwork done and I was whisked off to theatre before I even had a bed! Still, meant no hanging around.

It was all because they had mislaid the lady who was meant to be first's file!
