Wren. It is obviously very dangerous. Am really hacked off as now I feel better there is lots I want to do. Luckily I already had a physio appointment booked tomorrow for my hip so I can add not being able to walk as well. Have a feeling I must have torn something which would explain hideous noise!
Thanks for positive vibes. Feel a bit silly for hoping too much.

honeybeeridiculous · 12/05/2014 12:58

really Thanks Grin Cake Thanks congratulations! you've done it!
Onwards and upwards now, enjoy every minute!

mom DF's oncologist was very impressed with his skin during rads so he took in the moogoo to show him and he was very impressed Smile

foofooyeah · 12/05/2014 13:16

Hurray for really

High five for amber

I am so absent minded I forgot my cats name when on the phone to the vet, I have only had 17 years!

MomOfTwoGirls2 · 12/05/2014 13:45

Does the absent mindness go away eventually? Can I still blame chemo (last one in March), or have I just got into bad habit?

mrsrhodgilbert · 12/05/2014 17:57

Amber, I would like to apologise. I have manned up and read your posts and they were not at all what I imagined. My eyes saw 2-5 years and I absolutely panicked. I seem to have caused a bit of a storm and I'm very sorry about that, I'm quite spooked at the moment and I've had a very good friend crying all over me this afternoon when I'm trying hard to be brave. Dds exams went well, thanks for all the best wishes.

malteserzz · 12/05/2014 17:58

Quiet this afternoon, hope everyone is out enjoying themselves !

Well done really for finishing !

malteserzz · 12/05/2014 18:01

Mrs cross posted with you, glad dds exams went well :) don't feel you have to be brave all of the time x

reallyreallyworried · 12/05/2014 18:24

Thanks for all the messages Grin

mrs it's understandable that you are a bit all over the place right now! Things are very raw! Once you have a plan and more importantly dates, you will feel more in control. As for your friend, sadly some people struggle to deal with this stuff! Eventually you will find the people who can cope, and give you the support YOU need, and distance yourself slightly from the needier friends/family.

Wren48 · 12/05/2014 18:25

mrs, glad your dd's exams went well (one notch further down, my ds's first day of GCSEs also went ok). Other people's reactions are sometimes the very hardest thing to deal ith....

ConsiderablyBiggerBuns · 12/05/2014 19:00

Hi All. Currently on a lovely 2 day break with old school friends. The weather has been glorious and the company even better. Just wanted to come on and congratulate really on coming to the end if her frustrating treatment. You should be very proud of managing everything and carrying on working - well done, you are an inspiration. Lots of other people needing advice and reassurance which the lovely ladies of this forum have already provided. From the experiences on here, obvious cancerous tumours will often be diagnosed on the day of the biopsy rather than waiting for results. This happened to me and I was grateful not to be in that awful limbo state for over a week. mrs I'm glad that you bit the bullet and re-read amber's posts. She has never been anything other than reassuring and I can guarantee that her stats are the ones to take on board - much more current and hence more comforting than Dr. Google. Lumps do get bigger after biopsy - my radiologist warned me of that. I've already ordered my MooGoo cream even though I won't need radiotherapy for another 5 months or so, it certainly feels and smells wonderful - something to look forward to!

smee · 12/05/2014 19:02

Congratulations really. I've been largely awol so hadn't realised you weren't through. What happened?! I know you were having lots of rads. I did too when it was my turn. How's the skin holding up? Hope not too bad. Smile

UKsounding · 12/05/2014 19:32

Mom You can blame absent mindedness on chemofog, which can last up to two years according to my MO.

UKsounding · 12/05/2014 19:33

And Hooray!!! to Really !

Mummywheel · 12/05/2014 19:42

Well done Really so pleased for you. Your last post brought a tear to my eye.

Naughty Mom E45 cream indeed Grin - I like your style!

Mrs It's early days and your emotions will be all over the place. I couldn't look at any of the books my BCN gave me for at least a week. Just go at your own pace and be kind to yourself.

Lilymaid · 12/05/2014 19:57

One of the partners at work has bought me a juicer! Massive Magimix. What a lovely gesture! So what should I be juicing to build up my bloods? Nice tasting preferably ... I have to contend with the nasty taste in my mouth every day though so almost anything is "nice".
And I'm back to work full hours now which means I am out of the house 12 hours per day. So, yes there is light at the end (or somewhere along) the tunnel back to our "new normal".
Welcome to all those who are new but sorry you have to be here.

wineoclocktimeye · 12/05/2014 21:59

Congrats on finishing Really
Good luck tomorrow wee (and for your team on Saturday)
Night night to everyone!

malteserzz · 13/05/2014 08:16

Morning all :)

Wee best of luck for today, hope everything goes smoothly and you are well looked after

Lily how lovely, have fun experimenting with different juices. I guess green veg is good for your bloods though I bet fruit is nicer !

traviata · 13/05/2014 08:57

Hi everybody.

I am thinking about getting a medic-ID bracelet, to avoid bloods/ needles in my surgery-side arm if I fainted or had an accident. There was a bit of debate about this further up the thread.

I like these engraved ones on etsy:

etsy

What do you think would be the best text to add?

Depending on the size, there would be space for about;

3 lines of 15 characters each: (small size)

or 4 lines x 12 characters and 4 lines x 24 characters.(Larger size)

It doesn't need to say much more than "no bloods or needles in right arm", do you think? Should it say "risk of lymphoedema" ?

I have some minor allergies but nothing that needs recording.

kitkat1967 · 13/05/2014 10:57

Good to hear from you Lily - what a lovely gift from your work and I am so pleased that you are back full time and have found a new normal. The taste buds thing is a pain but you sound like you are managing really well on the latest regime.

Wren48 · 13/05/2014 12:16

lilymaid, that's an excellent present. In an early fit of enthusiasm to support my health, my husband brought a juicer thingy. His efforts have worn off a bit now, but the recipes that came with it were good (it was a Nutribullet), and almost anything fruity was nice as long as it had a bit of juice to it. It was meant to be 50% green leaves, which got a bit worthy, and I liked it better when I was allowed to get away with less spinach. It also encouraged a handful of seeds (chia, flax etc) and nuts.

traviata, the bracelet sounds great. My instinct would be to keep it simple with the clear instructions and not to worry about the lymphodema bit.

mrsrhodgilbert · 13/05/2014 15:42

My friend will be very supportive, she is just upset that I'm having to deal with this. She's coming with me to my pre op tomorrow. I've had a lovely chat with the bc nurse to get a bit more info and have found out when my post surgery appt will be to get results. Unfortunately the next bank holiday is going to make it a week later than it might have been. That one will be very scary I think, will I need chemo or not?

I've got an appt through now to go to the nuclear medicine unit for my pre surgery injection next week. Luckily the local hospital is only 5 mins from home and I'll have radiotherapy in the big city hospital, 15 miles away. In that respect I think I'm quite lucky.

ConsiderablyBiggerBuns · 13/05/2014 16:01

Wishing wee lots of luck and hoping she is back on here soon to let us know how she has got on.
Hope you still have a spring in your step really from ending the treatment and are looking forward to a relaxing half term.

malteserzz · 13/05/2014 16:37

Mrs I'm glad you're starting to get the appointments sorted I think it helps to feel a bit more in control, glad your friend is coming with you too. Rads is fine it's just a pain having to go every day, I always felt sorry for the people who relied on hospital transport as they could be left waiting for ages.

Speedypenguin · 13/05/2014 17:50

Lily. A juicer sounds great. I think I need to look into the whole diet thing. Have just eaten too much chocolate!

Mrs. Sounds like the ball is starting to roll with the appointments. That really helps you feel more in control.

It turns out I have torn some of my calf muscle! What a stupid thing to do reaching for a nightie! Good news is that physio said it should heal reasonably well and I have a load of exercises to do.

I have appointment with genetics clinic on thurs. Hoping they won't want to take bloods then as my arm is still really sore. Does anybody know if the veins will stop being sore?

Mummywheel · 13/05/2014 18:50

Speedy I had a really sore vein after my second chemo so the nurse used a different one for my next session and by the time my fourth session came around it was okay. However the other vein used on third session is now sore and has been since then so going to mention it tomorrow. I did come across something called phlebitis but not entirely sure that is what I have.
