Thanks ladies, it's good to know it's not just me! Was starting to think I was going nuts!!

malt war horse is amazing! But remember to take your tissues!

GoodnessKnows · 28/01/2014 12:03

One hour and off I'll go.
Waxed, packed and hair washed.
I'd rather be going on holiday.

Wren48 · 28/01/2014 12:18

Good for you, Goodness. I like the sound of your preparations. Thinking of you.

difficultpickle · 28/01/2014 12:20

Good luck. What have you packed for hospital wear? I was thinking of starting a thread in Style & Beauty to ensure that I purchase 'on trend' items for my forthcoming hospital stay Grin

GoodnessKnows · 28/01/2014 12:23

Roll down trackside pants (sainsburys), nighties, undies, everything that ends with an 'ies'.

Updatingmywill · 28/01/2014 12:25

Oh War Horse is excellent! We saw it at half term. I was a bit distracted at first as the plot isn't quite the same as the book which I had just read, but I did cry, I have to confess!

difficultpickle · 28/01/2014 12:26
Grin

I'm going to do a list. A friend has offered to do my washing but I'm not sure I'd want her washing my comfy clothes!

malteserzz · 28/01/2014 12:31

I will cry I'm sure, loved the film but it's a white since I saw it

Nearly time goodness, deep breaths you'll be fine :)

honeybeeridiculous · 28/01/2014 12:52

Good luck goodness stay strong x

I'm feeling very teary today, felt myself welling up in Tesco this morning Blush, thought I was ok when I got up but I guess yesterday's news is sinking in now, off to hairdressers in a mo so hope I stay composed!

Wren48 · 28/01/2014 13:34

Oh that thing when the tears sit just below the surface and you can't quite control when they're going to emerge. Sat down to meditate yesterday and instantly started crying.

I strongly recommend Peter Jones as a good store to collapse in. Shortly after I was diagnosed, and the day I heard about my nephew's cancer, I went shopping for a post operative bra (already a bit emotional). The bra lady wasn't very helpful; I started crying in the changing room and was absolutely bawling by the time I got to the check out. At this point i was scooped up by the checkout lady and the floor manager, who practically carried me to the cafe for free coffee and cake, and sat me down very carefully with lots of kind talk. The bit where the checkout lady told me all about her husband dying of cancer wasn't so great, but it was very kindly meant.

honeybeeridiculous · 28/01/2014 13:52

Oh dear wren that shopping trip sounds an ordeal!
I'm at work tomorrow so if anyone asks if Iv heard any news re DF I don't know how I will react, I'm normally a siff upper lip kind of girl but never dealt with this before, think this is the start of a whole new chapter Hmm

Tiny100 · 28/01/2014 14:52

Handbag - Whoo-Hoo, for your last chemo session!

KitKat - Hope that your appointment tonight reveals that you have healed well. It was also good to hear that your DM is 4 years post TNBC. Every year that goes by the risk of recurrence in TNBC drops, with it dropping substantially at the 5 year mark. Fingers and everything else crossed, for that last year.

Malt - War Horse is amazing, you will have a wonderful time.

Wee - I feel some of your pain, DS has been put in a big boys bed and I am up several times in the nights, thankfully I am not doing a 5 mile walk each day. Make sure you don't wear yourself out, are there any friends that can help out with the school run?

Wren - Pleased to hear your healing and are all scheduled to start chemo next week. What are they going to be blasting you with?

Worried - Hope all goes well at your friend's appointment. I am assuming that your friend has had a biopsy, (otherwise how would they know that she has cancer), so most of those questions are relevant.

Just packing up my bits before heading back to London, as I have an Oncologist appointment and bloods tomorrow. Think I may have scared a small girl at a children's party yesterday. She asked why I was wearing a headscarf, so I told her it was because I didn't have any hair, she looked truly scared. Opps, must stick to the pirate story next time! Grin

Wren48 · 28/01/2014 16:16

tiny, I'll be having FEC-T, so lots of advice on here, I know.

honey, sometimes I have found it easier just to say that "they're still doing tests". Friendly enquiries are not always easy to cope with.

Mummywheel · 28/01/2014 16:19

Just had a call from BCN to tell me I have my first appointment with Oncologist Wednesday 5th February. So onto the next part of my journey I must go.

handbags congratulations on the end of your chemo!

Tiny100 · 28/01/2014 17:00

Wren - I was an EC-T girl, but there are plenty on this thread who have been blasted with FEC-T. My best advice would be to tell your Oncologist if you get nauseous very easily, so they get your anti-sickness meds right from the very first session.

Wren48 · 28/01/2014 17:05

Oh, good advice, tiny. Nausea is most definitely my thing, so I will ask..

Wren48 · 28/01/2014 17:06

mummywheel, I can't remember where you've got to in your treatment?

Handbagsatdawn · 28/01/2014 17:33

Done.

Wren and Mummywheel Tiny is absolutely right, get as many anti-sickness meds into you prior to each chemo session (particularly the EC), and then have plenty of take home meds so you can keep on top of it. If you can conquer the sickness you're half way there.

reallyreallyworried · 28/01/2014 18:33

CONGRATULATIONS handbags your final Chemo! You must be so pleased. I am very jealous. Still have 2 more to go. But hopefully by the end of Feb I will be done! Well the Chemo part anyway.

tiny I had the same question from one of my charges friends. She asked why I wore a scarf. Cue my charge, who said because she's bald, and she's a pirate!! Grin Very blunt and to the point, I thought! Do you think at some point he will be disappointed that I'm not a pirate anymore?

Handbagsatdawn · 28/01/2014 18:54

Thanks Really. I think you should also get some hooped earrings and shout 'aharrrrrr Jim lad' at every opportunity. And maybe get a parrot.

Handbagsatdawn · 28/01/2014 19:00

in fact this is how I usually do the school run. Minus the hair. Obviously.

Mummywheel · 28/01/2014 19:08

Wren I've had surgery on both sides then again on the right to gain a better margin. I guess that's the easy bit. I do suffer from nausea easily - was very sick after first surgery :(

reallyreallyworried · 28/01/2014 19:28

WOW handbags you're a stunner! Nothing wrong with those breasts Grin I've already been given an eye patch at a playdate! Which I was okay with! But being told I needed to cut off a leg or a hand, was just a step too far! Grin

Tiny100 · 28/01/2014 19:33

If I was a child I would be really impressed that I had a real life pirate as a nanny, you're going to have to keep up that story Really!

Handbag - You are the type of pirate that would keep the Daddies happy, (hair or no hair)! Grin

Mummy - You need to ask for Emend/Aprepitant.

malteserzz · 28/01/2014 19:49

Loving the pirates Grin

I wasn't sick at all on fec, didn't even feel like I was going to be just to reassure people that not everyone is
