Morning All!

We're nearly in December, so let's get the festivities started.

Wren, I'm thinking of you. Hope all goes well today and that you're in no discomfort. Xxxx

Gigondas · 24/12/2013 09:18

Oh no pull the tumour card goodness. The new stuff for hospital sounds great but did smile at guff about what bump was.

Had late night as just as I was dropping off mini gig woke up. Luckily she slept in past 8.

Hope wren doing ok.

Can't offer any direct advice ledkr aside from fact you may feel tired for 4-6 weeks after (I know hard to tell with kids). For some reason I was told by nurse that ops in lower abdomen region mean more organs are moved etc so you feel more tired in recovery. May be relevant to goodness too. It makes sense as I felt more tired with lower back than neck op although it was less major.

Hope planning goes well and enjoy the crib service betsey.

Food prep, wrapping and trying to tire big gig . Weather loads better as was very stormy last night here.

Marshy · 24/12/2013 09:35

Morning all!
I'm at the hairdressers with lovely dd having a Christmas treat, then off to a concert this afternoon followed by early dinner out and a night relaxing on the sofa. Both teens are coming along and im making the most of being 'us four' as I don't suppose it will be like that for much longer.

So a nice day planned though have to fit in some veg peeling somewhere!

Thinking of you all, and especially those enduring less pleasant things.

Tiny, you mentioned our kitten upthread. She has turned out to be a delight, funny and affectionate. I could quite easily become boring cat lady so will end there.

Betsy, the hot flushes seem to have subsided the last couple of nights so fingers crossed that side effect is wearing off

Marshy · 24/12/2013 09:38

Kicking self for insensitive rambling about hairdressers...

Lilymaid · 24/12/2013 09:47

Don't worry about hairdressers - those of us on chemo/recntly had it will get back to them in a few months (and then complain about bad cuts/colours etc).
I was complimented on my hair (wig) colour by a young girl in the petrol station this morning!

BetsyBoop · 24/12/2013 10:28

mini slept 'til 8 gig? Shock that's a mega lie in in your house! Grin

marshy - what time do you take your tamoxifen? I tend to take mine about 5-6pm with our evening meal. I seem to get almost predictable hot flushes in between 8-11 ish but I've been okay during the night for the past few days.

lily - I keep meaning to ask you how your nails are doing? I've had a few that have lifted on the FEC bit of nail (luckily almost grown out now, so not been an issue) but the Tax bit of my nails are staying stuck so far - just with a series of 3 ridges to grow out! I hope your nausea is improving?

We seem to have escaped the worst of the weather here in the NW, I hope all those in blowy bits don't have too much damage.

Lilymaid · 24/12/2013 11:04

Hi Betsy - I had a look at my fingernails yesterday when I removed the old varnish! I've got black/brown areas that go across the nail but they seem to be growing out! Perhaps only another month or so and I won't have to do the weekly manicure session.
I haven't yet got rid of the nausea and nasty taste in the mouth and I get a lot of heartburn, so Gaviscon is my friend.

Merry Christmas one and all and, hopefully, plenty of help from the family!

malteserzz · 24/12/2013 12:10

Just wanted to wish everyone as happy a Christmas as possible. I'm sure we will all have sad moments but hopefully lots of happy ones too.
Xx

Happy festive greetings to all of you- wheeling in a trolley full of fat boy snacks, cheese footballs and prosecco
I am having a cycle off my chemo to give my hands and feet a chance to recover (for new tamoxifen ladies I am on continuous oral chemo) and my latest scan looks very good- no official report, but onc. says things seem much smaller)

I hope you all have a very healthy and brilliant new yar too...often thinking of you all but not posting Xmas Grin ! much love xxxx

GoodnessKnows · 24/12/2013 14:54

I queued after all. Lost my balance - another little reminder of the tiny signs I'd missed ;(
Want to say a huge thank you to you all as you've geared with me despite my 'OMG me-me ramblings' and embarrassingly funny typos. It's helped to get me through the initial shock. Don't think I'd have coped as well without you all. Might have spontaneously combusted at the rate of knots I was chasing my tail. Lol
I wish everyone a wonderful Christmas and send virtual hugs for any difficult moments. Xxx

GoodnessKnows · 24/12/2013 14:55

Bared with. Not geared with. Gah!

reallyreallyworried · 24/12/2013 17:42

MomOfTwoGirls2 · 24/12/2013 19:20

Here another wishing you all the best Christmas possible. And all the best for 2014.

I had chemo yesterday. But doing pretty well. Being very lazy today, conserving energy for tomorrow. I will take nulasta injection tomorrow morning for the first time, which will hopefully keep me well this cycle.

wren You are in my thoughts. Hopefully your surgery went well and that you recuperating well.

smee · 24/12/2013 21:04

Just been so up against it with aged parents, work and life in general. Not moaning, as obviously that's a plus! Huge hugs of festive cheer from me to all of you. Wine Xmas Grin

Gigondas · 24/12/2013 21:20

Smooch for lovely smee -good to hear from you .

UKsounding · 24/12/2013 22:47

Very best wishes for Christmas, and a very happy and healthy New Year to all!!! Wine

(Christmas is postponed for a few days here. We are refugees from the consequences of an ice storm. We lost electricity late on Sat. night and without it we can't cook or heat the house. After a couple of days, with the temps outside at -15C, we left and went to a hotel. DH and DD will spend Christmas Day skiing and we will do the whole presents and turkey thing next weekend. Who says us Tamoxifen girls don't know how to maximize the holiday season? Xmas Smile. )

trice · 24/12/2013 23:00

I had some lovely Christmas news - a new niece on the way! I am very happy for my db and sil, but green with envy too. It's not fair that they get a lovely new baby and I get incurable cancer. Wah! I can't say that in real life, but I am sure you ladies understand. I would have loved the chance to have another. I hope I get the chance to love my niece.

Happy Christmas one and all, have a fabulous and loving time.

GoodnessKnows · 25/12/2013 07:19

Understandable feelings, Trice. I'm having similar feelings re spending time with my niece today. Hope to be able to spend more time with her. www.makingtgemostoftoday.com

GoodnessKnows · 25/12/2013 07:21

Wow! Now that's a Christmas to remember, UKSounding. Glad you didn't have to stay in a cold, dark house. Do they have a Christmas meal at the hotel - or is it Premier Inn style?

GoodnessKnows · 25/12/2013 07:23

Mumoftwo, hope you've stocked your energy reserves and have a fab day!
Wren, I'm thinking of you and hoping you're ok and ding well enough to enjoy the day.
