Morning All!

We're nearly in December, so let's get the festivities started.

Hugs Trice How could news like that not be a bit bittersweet?
Thinking of Wren and you all. Happy Christmas!

Goodness we are in a holiday inn so no restaurant. We have a microwave though and we will catch up with merry-making later. It seems almost a fitting end to a year which has had the theme 'the importance of family' Smile

My DD8 feels the need to translate 'Father Christmas' to 'Santa', while rolling her eyes... Lucky she didn't get coal....

Elibean · 25/12/2013 15:35

Merry Christmas, dear Tamoxicrew Xmas Smile

(from a long time popper-in-for-hand-holding-on-several-occasions)

May the day be good and the year ahead hold only the best sorts of surprises xx

BetsyBoop · 25/12/2013 16:18

Merry Christmas everyone, hope you are having a great day, a gentle for anyone needing one.

Tiny100 · 25/12/2013 21:14

Oh so true UKSounding. Microwave in a hotel isn't what you had I mind , I'm sure... but as you say, who cares when the family are together. Double bonus: there'll be no washing up!

MomOfTwoGirls2 · 25/12/2013 22:29

Happy Christmas everybody.
Must be the steroids, cause I'd plenty of energy today, and generally felt quite well. Yay!! DDs stayed in bed til 7:45, so not too early a start. They loved their presents and were as good as gold all day. Taste buds on the way out, Christmas dinner was lovely, but had to replace chocolate with mints. And no vino, was nervous to mix it with my meds.
Just going to bed now. Nothing planned for tomorrow, so I can have a lazy day.

GoodnessKnows · 26/12/2013 04:56

Not having a good night. The waiting is shit. I'm very scared of the inevitable operation. I lie awake every night aching, remembering the bone erosion and tumour images and wondering in desperation whether leaning this way of that way could harm my spine, which consultant to go to (one I've been directed to appears to be a knee and tumour guy vs spine and tumour). Shitty shit shit fuck.

GoodnessKnows · 26/12/2013 05:28

Have just placed order for pillow speakers. Am considering buying Babylos big Hair drying brush - after copious MNing thus evening. Insomnia is an expensive habit. Lol
Anyone used the pillow speakers? I'm hoping to distract myself from The Thoughts. Not sure what to plug it into as isn't it bad to have phone or ipad on all night? Oh the irony - having been plugged directly into the net every night for a couple of weeks now.

RunRunRuby · 26/12/2013 08:36

Good morning Goodness, I hope you managed to get some sleep. I'm lucky that I've never really been kept awake by worries but I have some sleepphones which I use to listen to classical music or Deepak Chopra affirmations on Spotify at night if I can't get back to sleep after bathroom visits (had bowel cancer surgery). I also now listen to classical music while I read before bed, I find it helps calm me down and I have been sleeping better. I use my iPad. I have one of those folding covers so the screen isn't on, and I listen before bed then turn off and don't turn it back on unless I'm having sleep problems. It's not ideal to have phone/iPad on all night but equally not ideal to not get enough sleep either so lesser of two evils really :)

Sorry that was rather rambly.

Waving to everyone else! Xmas Grin

GoodnessKnows · 26/12/2013 09:29

Makes perfect sense. I've a lovely meditation CD so will use it with the pillow speakers when they arrive. Thank goodness it's day time now and my DH is helping with the DCs.

MomOfTwoGirls2 · 26/12/2013 10:18

Good morning all.
Goodness, would you consider asking your Dr for some mild sleeping pills? It is very draining for you to lie awake fully of worries.
I find it hard to sleep while taking steroids. I woke at 2am and took a lorazepam. It took me about an hour to.fall back to sleep but I was relaxed during that hour. And I slept until almost 10am. No groggy side effects either.

malteserzz · 26/12/2013 11:08

Goodness I agree about asking for sleeping tablets it's horrid not sleeping

Trice we understand about the new baby, it's really not fair however pleased you are for them

Uk I feel for you being in a hotel bit sounds like you're making the best of it

Betsy hugs to you today

Hope wren is ok too

Love to everyone else hope everyone had a good day yesterday. We had a lovely day lots of presents eating and drinking Smile just chilling today and tidying up !

GoodnessKnows · 26/12/2013 21:49

Thank you both for the suggestion. I've an addictive personality type and have been warned off painkillers and sleeping tabs. I'll take painkillers after the op under direction but won't before then. I've asked DH to download a meditation CD and have ordered pillow speakers from my new best friend (Amazon).

GoodnessKnows · 26/12/2013 21:50

Have had a really lovely day though. Hope everyone else has, too!

RunRunRuby · 26/12/2013 23:04

Goodness I have a Yoga Sleep CD which is good - it's a type of yoga called yoga nidra, quite like meditation. It's very relaxing. I haven't used it for ages as I sleep well, thankfully, and tend to just fall asleep while listening Blush

I went through a phase last month where my surgery side effects were playing up so I was going to the bathroom lots during the night and struggling to settle afterwards. I can recommend Deepak Chopra Soul of Healing affirmations. I found his voice very soothing and it's quite unstimulating! Plus they are positive affirmations so I thought even if I wasn't getting sleep at least I was relaxed and some of the affirmations might take effect and make me a better person! Grin

I hope your pillow speaker helps. If you can't take sleeping pills, it might be worth looking at your 'sleep hygiene' (nothing to do with cleanliness, it's about your bedtime routine, bedroom conditions etc.) in case there's anything you can do to improve your quality/quantity of sleep.

Waving to everyone Xmas Smile

GoodnessKnows · 27/12/2013 03:52

Those CDs sound fab. I feel another Amazon urge coming on! Lol
How are you sleeping now? Better, I hope!

GoodnessKnows · 27/12/2013 03:54

My sleep hygiene would benefit from me NOT plugging my phone in next to my bed. That's for sure. But neither do I wish to lie awake 'alone' without the comfort & distraction of MN, FB, etc. think I'll buy those CDs!

foofooyeah · 27/12/2013 04:28

Hi there goodness

I'm also awake, fell asleep early drunk now awake! Am tired but thoughts of chemo whiz zing round my head. But it's my last one next week Smile

I havent done any meditation for ages, I need to rectify that.

malteserzz · 27/12/2013 07:22

Hope foo foo and goodness got back to sleep
I was shattered and fell asleep about 10 but been awake every couple of hours since. Really windy here too

reallyreallyworried · 27/12/2013 07:32

Morning all

Hope everyone had a great Christmas! I had 2 lovely days Xmas Smile

Sadly today I am back on the treatment treadmil! Catching a train at 8.30 to head back for number 3 Chemo!! Half way point for me!! Then hopefully all being well, I'll catch a train later today to come back down to my parents until the New Year! (fingers firmly crossed)

I so enjoyed being 'normal' for two days! I felt good, was able to enjoy my food etc etc. Then you wake up again and it's like Oh goodness, here we go again.

I was taken back by Oncologist on Monday, who said that he would start the ball rolling with the Radiotherapy people!! I know it's because there is a waiting time and he wants me in the system. But then he dictated a message into his machine for the other doc, where he said he would like me to be seen as he is recommending radiotherapy, due to the very aggressive cancer!!!

When was it decided that it was a very aggressive cancer? and why wasn't I ever told that!!

Anyway if any of you lovely ladies have been through radiotherapy I really would like to hear how you got on. My main concern is the position of my original lump! Right hand side of my left breast! So near my heart!! Stupidly I have been reading stuff on google! bad bad me now I have thousands of questions to ask the Doc!

Right I really should go. Hope everyone is doing okay! Xxxxxx
