Apologies for the bingo reference, couldn't think of a witty title but the other thread is very nearly full.

In honour of our new thread I have piled extra apple pudding on the trolley so tuck in :)

marshy the misery from the pain from the armpit made me cry one day .... and I don't cry easily ! I can't remember how long it was before it felt ok as I was spaced out on morphine for days with everything else that went on ... I would be happy to chat on the phone to you if it would help ?

MomOfTwoGirls2 · 24/10/2013 11:02

Ah knitting, it is such an emotional day for you. MIL probably just wanted to acknowledge your comment. I was shocked at all the 'Likes' my colleague received when she posted that her mom died...

Wishing you all the best for your chemo. My first chemo was just over a week ago, and I got through it better than I expected.

Malt I got that flushing on my cheeks, and also chest area after my chemo.

MomOfTwoGirls2 · 24/10/2013 11:06

malt and topsy I rang chemo line about my sore mouth yesterday. They told me take a 'potion' they had sent home with me in case of mouth ulcers. (I don't have ulcers) It is vile! But it seems to work, as mouth improved today.

malteserzz · 24/10/2013 11:08

I do think some people think like just means they have seen it
Off to buy some cushions for new sofa, been the 1st time this week I've actually felt up to doing something like that Smile

malteserzz · 24/10/2013 11:09

Mom of 2 that's good news is it a mouthwash ?

Marshy · 24/10/2013 13:09

HND that's such a kind offer. Will pm you later as out and about atm and on my phone.

MomOfTwoGirls2 · 24/10/2013 13:56

I'm just back from nice lunch out with friend from work. Am feeling pleasantly stuffed. But feel ready for a nap.

malt it is a special mix of different medicines that they put together that works well on mouth ulcers. They call it BMX, and there is a big yellow label on bottle saying it is unlicensed. I have to swish around my mouth like a mouth wash and then swallow it. It gives a local anesthetic type feel to my tongue and mouth for several minutes. It is vile, but hey, if it is working...

kitkat1967 · 24/10/2013 13:58

afternoon all. So I have developed diabetes (steroid induced) and GP expects it to be temporary although it will likely take a good few months after chemo finishes before it clears up. He said it has reached the point it needs treating so have got Metformin to take - and great news SEs of that include upset stomach!! - how on earth I'll tell that apart from the current stomach issues I don't know. But at least it can be treated - I have to go back in 4 weeks with all my weekly blood results.

malteserzz · 24/10/2013 14:20

If it works mom of 2 that's good, I hate mouthwash I always want to spit it out straight away
Kitkat what a pain but at least it's temporary and can be treated. Have you got to change your diet too?

kitkat1967 · 24/10/2013 14:37

no mention of diet thankfully - mine is all over the place at the moment!!

Knittingnovice · 24/10/2013 14:51

weebarra sorry, seems really insensitive to post that I made it to 6 months when you have had so little feeding with your DD, but having done 16 months with DS, and having to go cold turkey with DD1 at 17 months when I was blue lighted to hospital first time round this makes me really fucked off at cancer!!

Chemo is almost done now, just got to have my pump connected, DH has to be shown how to disconnect it, and getting some oromorph for the pain. Which finally means I might get a decent night sleep!!

Have also seen the dietician who has recommends lots of unhealthy food to try and bulk me back up and lots of sweets and snacks. Unfortunately my taste buds are not enjoying at the moment, so lots of haring for me.

Gigondas · 24/10/2013 15:59

Is that haribo or herring knitting?
Weebarra sorry you are having such a hard time on feeding - it's horribly emotive . I only managed only 3 weeks with mini gig so I know how horrible it is to give up for medical reasons.

Just marking spot from pAris tesco - have been bit off colour (think from steroid wirhdrawal) so not really keeping up.

Marshy · 24/10/2013 17:00

Have been shopping and got some crop top bras from matalan as recommended by bcn, that I can step into and wriggle up. Arms above chest height not allowed for 2 weeks post op. They are quite nice and would look ok
under a zip up top if I didn't want to put anything else on.

Finding button through pj's is proving a challenge. A few fleecy ones with Santa or reindeer - I think not - or the kind I used to buy for my DM in her 80's - not ready for them yet but I can see me having to go down the Peter pan collar, tiny flowers, pale shades of yellow route. I really will look ill in those!

Still have a few days to look again.

Nice to hear from gigs. Hope you are in a comfortable place in Paris if feeling off colour

It's a bugger about the diabetes kitkat. There's always flaming something isn't there.

wee and knitting - feel for you. I just have teenage angst to deal with. Speaking of which DS just back so gotta go!

kitkat1967 · 24/10/2013 17:39

Marsy - I had great difficulty finding short sleeve light-weight button up PJs but in the end got a couple of pairs on-line from Cyberjammies clearance section (so left over from the summer) - you could try looking that up.

foofooyeah · 24/10/2013 18:02

kitkat major fucker about the diabetes. Don't you ave enough to deal with??

Hugs to baby ladies. You should be enjoying your time with them and nt dealing with ths shite.

Ladies, I'm going to start a separate thread about reconstruction to try and keep traffic a little slower on this thread. And provide a one stop shop fir reconstruction Q&As. It's not something that affects everyone n this thread as there are all types of cancer here so seems a good idea to separate it off

kitkat1967 · 24/10/2013 18:08

well done foo - I'll be hoping over to join you as it's going to be my 'hot topic' for the next few months (so I'll be boring I expect!)

Knittingnovice · 24/10/2013 18:14

Whoops gigs yep should be haribo, thought I'd got all the typos too, chemo fog clearly kicked in early.

Side effects much more manageable with this chemo than the oxaliplatin I had before, have actually eaten, and am not in tears with tingling and pain like I was before.

Marshy · 24/10/2013 18:14

ok foo - see you there

foofooyeah · 24/10/2013 18:14

Mine too! Can you do a link from here to Reconstruction thread a I don't now how to ( worked in IT for 20 years - hangs head in shame)

BetsyBoop · 24/10/2013 18:22

recon thread

BetsyBoop · 24/10/2013 18:24

kitkat - what a git re the diabetes but fingers crossed things will settle down again after treatment/steroids ends.

malteserzz · 24/10/2013 18:48

Knitting glad it went ok and that you aren't feeling too bad
Marshy I got my pjs from sainsburys but that was back in the summer
My kids are home Smile sounds like they had a lovely time
Good idea for the reconstruction thread

jchocchip · 24/10/2013 18:57

Hmm I'm fussy on the haribo I'll eat! If you want something calorie dense I like olives, peanuts, cashews and pistachios though no good if you are.sensitive to nuts! I have no probs eating revels and old jamaica either. Weight has been going back.on but lost a couple of pounds.last week:).

Knittingnovice · 24/10/2013 19:24

Jchochip hadn't thought of nuts, maybe I'll go shopping tomorrow. But def not olives - blurgh!!

Marshy I've just got some lovely pj bottoms from Sainsbury's too, fleecy ones and cotton ones, but I didn't look at the tops.

smee · 24/10/2013 21:10

Have no time whatsoever, but just wanted to say hi to all. I am thinking of you, just have ridiculous work deadlines and still trying to make sense of them... Have just posted on your reconstruction thread foofoo. Very good idea! Smile
