Apologies for the bingo reference, couldn't think of a witty title but the other thread is very nearly full.

In honour of our new thread I have piled extra apple pudding on the trolley so tuck in :)

I am back and feeling much better - can't believe the chemo wiped me out for a week.

Malt, Betsy, KitKat and Smee - thanks for the input, I have written all the anti sickness meds down to discuss with Onc at next appointment.

Marshy - If you can, get yourself a private room, if not ear plugs are a must. The lights also never really go out at night, so you might need an eye mask. Primark used to do button down night shirts that are cheap as chips, so you can bin afterwards without feeling guilty.

Weebarra - Do you want to wait a week for chemo? If not, then why not proceed with private medical insurance. Sure, you will probably see the same Team, it's just everything gets done super quick privately. I went to my GP with a lump on 1st October, by 18th I was having chemo, having had all my tests/scans done by then.

HND - Congrats on the new boob, [gives cheeky squeeze]. Grin

Handbag - Raising a glass of champers to say Congratulations to you too.

Momof2 - I have bad veins too - please let me know how the port-a-cath fitting goes. I am scheduled to have mine week after next.

Hope everyone else is having a lovely Friday night - here's to a great weekend! xx (Mine will start tomorrow at midday once a coil/marker has been stuck in my boob!)

topsyturner · 25/10/2013 21:41

Momoftwo did I read correctly that you are in Ireland ?
Whereabouts ?
I'm in Belfast ((if you don't want to answer its fine ! I'm a nosey biatch !)

malteserzz · 25/10/2013 22:17

topsyturner · 25/10/2013 22:20

Nighty night x

AngryFeet · 25/10/2013 23:26

Hi ladies,

Hope you are all well. I was on the last thread with a pink patch above my nipple as was waiting for a referral. Anyway someone screwed up and after 2 weeks waiting discovered the breast clinic did not get the referral. They have it now so am waiting again.

Pinkness has gone down but I have found a small hard and sharp feeling lump about an inch above it.

So I am freaking out again. I am on my period at the moment but this lump is hard and pointy (feels like it could break through the skin if I pushed hard enough). How worried should I be? Do I just wait for referral or go back to gp?

Thanks :)

Marshy · 25/10/2013 23:38

Goodnight all, I have had a busy day and it's been good to be busy again.

Lovely to hear good news from handbags and HND and to hear what everyone else is up to. You are all amazing women.

See you all tomorrow

amberlight · 26/10/2013 06:53

Angryfeet, see GP again, I would say. Sorry to hear about them messing up.

Tiny100 · 26/10/2013 08:22

I am private and not watched Marigold - do I have a twin? Grin

I didn't mean to worry anyone about NHS waiting times, I know they are very good at treating breast lumps and bumps very quickly now. For me I had a lump and my lymph nodes were up - the test found a grade 3 tumour in my breast and cancer cells in my lymph nodes and there is also a hot spot on a bone scan. For my own peace of mind, (that statement is laughable), I wanted to crack on with treatment as soon as I could. If my lump had been smaller/there had not been lymph node involvement or something had shown up on a routine mammogram then I would have been happier to wait. So in a long winded way I think waiting depends on personal circumstance and how you are feeling about it all.

Tiny100 · 26/10/2013 08:25

AngryFeet - I would definitely go back to the GP. It must be frustrating when you are worried and things don't go smoothly.

MomOfTwoGirls2 · 26/10/2013 08:55

topsy I'm in Cork.

tiny I'll keep you posted on the port-a-cath.

And wow, your journey has been so fast, no waiting time at all! I'm only a few day ahead of you on chemo, and the MRI that found my lump was back at end of June!

Mind you, I am responsible for 5 weeks of the delay, trying to continue to live my busy life and not impact kids holidays and fit in cancer appts around that. I've slowed down and got more sense since. Now that I'm on chemo train, everything else has to work around that schedule...

malteserzz · 26/10/2013 09:43

Morning all
My irrational envy of old people may have had something to do with not liking the film but we just couldn't get into it at all

Lilymaid · 26/10/2013 10:07

Quick update from a posh b & b in rainy Shropshire. Saw oncologist yesterday and he recommended no more chemo! After six lots of Tax I'm happy with that. As he points out that means he has more in reserve should it be needed in future. Now on to a hormonal pill - Letrozole - which is for post menopausal women. Side effects include all those you get with the menopause. So - menopause - so good I have it twice!
Radiotherapy likely but not confirmed for the New Year.

malteserzz · 26/10/2013 11:12

That is great lily hope you enjoy your break even more with that news ! You deserve a medal for getting through 6 rounds of tax !

kitkat1967 · 26/10/2013 11:27

Great news lily - as Malt says getting through 6 rounds of Tax is enough for anyone.

Tax truck has hit here today - I'm good for nothing so looks like a day on the sofa is on the cards. Still if it follows the usual pattern I should be much improved tomorrow.

BetsyBoop · 26/10/2013 14:45

Brill news no more tax lily Smile

Hope you feel better soon kitkat

Just a quick post from the top of Hartside pass - not sure when we will have 3G again!

Lilymaid · 26/10/2013 18:01

Hope you feel better tomorrow KitKat. Shropshire is lovely and not too wet today. No big walks as my energy levels are nowhere near normal.
Betsy - Hope you are having a good time up in N Pennines - another place I hope to revisit soon.
I asked Oncologist about return of sense of taste. He said it will return but may be different - so perhaps my wine of choice will no longer be NZ Sauvignon Blanc?

amberlight · 26/10/2013 18:17

I used Jelly Belly sweets to test how my taste was returning. At worst I could identify 5 out of 36 flavours. All are back now.

MomOfTwoGirls2 · 26/10/2013 18:42

Taste problems for me too. Just made chocolate chip cookies for first time in years. Kids think they are lovely. I ate first one and though 'oh dear'. Glad kids like them cause I doubled the recipe!

malteserzz · 26/10/2013 19:08

That's a good idea amber or good excuse to eat jelly beans anyway !
Things taste weird here too, mostly it's just numbed my taste buds though I find that things like curry taste more spicy than usual

Figgyroll · 26/10/2013 19:40

Lilymaid, I've been taking Letrozole for nearly 2 years now and for the first 6 months I suffered with joint aches and pains - especially in my feet for some reason. When I went to an 'after treatment coffee morning' organised by my breast care nurses and we did a question and answer session - joint pains was the one thing all us Letrozole ladies had in common. But I'm glad to say it's all eased off now and I honestly don't think I have any of the side effects. As I was already post-menopausal, I didn't have any of the menopause effects as far as I can remember. I'm glad you've finished with your Tax - it really knocked me for 6.

foofooyeah · 27/10/2013 08:20

Bit of advice please. Feeling rotten today. Had chemo on Wed and been having the period from hell for last 7 days.bUsed to have Mirena for this but was advised to have it removed when started treatment. So I think my HB count is plummeting. Wondering about calling out of hours doc to get some tablets to stop period, or don't know whether to wait until tomorrow.
What would you do?

It's no fun being a woman sometimes.
