Cheer me up - stuck in hospital in Paris

I could do with cheering up ... Came away for 2 nights to Paris with dh and ds10 had major fibroid haemorrhage last night and was blue lighted to hospital 3 hours of surgery doing d&c and emboli station then blood transfusion.

So so scared and now feeling as though I have been run over by a bus not unsurprisingly . Have to stay for another night the get further surgery - prob hysterectomy and may need further transfusion tonight. Dh and ds now gone up Eiffel Tower I am lying in bed with massive weird knickers 3 drips and huge pad on - plus I l

Which hospital are you in? Do you speak French? I am no longer in Paris unfortunately (otherwise would offer my services as a translator/ bearer of magazines) but the hospitals are very good so try not to be frightened.

You poor, poor thing! That must have been absolutely terrifying - for your family as well.

I don't have anything immediate to suggest - you need to get as much rest as you can. I hope the hospital staff are being kind to you. (How is your French?) Try to relax (!) and let people help you.

It's good that you do at least have your Dp and Ds with you. But I'm sorry you're having to go through this.

Is the food at least good? I like to think that a Parisian hospital would be serving you amazing gourmet meals.

Thanks for hugs and sympathy much appreciated. Food very poor but hospital fine and stuff very nice with my pigeon franglais and what I can remember from school I'm sort if getting myself understood le pee pee goes a long way! Actually lunch just arrived and surprisingly good omelette with Tom and mozzarella salad so not tops bad ...
The idea of trying to get home on Eurostar then 2 trains makes me want to cry

Should point out that further surgery will be back in uk . They've just done a temporary sort out which will last a few weeks , so may need another transfusion and if bloodsbare all good and I can walk then we can get home tomorrow night x

you poor bugger Sad...bad enough to happen back home but fifty times worse out of UK.
I can imagine how you are feeling about the journey home as it must seem insurmountable. Break it down into chunks and cross them off a list as you go along...out of hotel, on eurostar, off eurostar etc etc

Think of your lovely cosy bed, slippers, hot water bottle, tea and biscuits and Downton Abbey catch-up (if you are a fan)

My best friend's husband shared these with us at the weekend. Will make you smile. And possibly laugh out loud (hope that will not be painful). Just to warn you though - they are just plain silly - if it is intellectual amusement you want do not bother Grin

Oh no. Hope you are being well looked after. Most Presse will sell the UK magazines & newspapers. Handwash (Gel pour les mains - nettoie les mains sans eau/savon) is good to have & you can get this in pharmacies. The pharmacies will stock all healthcare products & paracetamol etc is not sold in the supermarkets like happens in the uk.

Tks for your messages - they are being very good here and 1 student nurse speaks good English . Dh has booked first class seats which are exchangeable so providing I feel better and I improve over next 23 hours all should be

PLEASE do speak to your insurers and take their advice on travel. In the dim and distant past, I worked for a travel insurance company briefly and they could get very funny about people who fell ill abroad not contacting them at the time and then trying to claim for extra accommodation, travel etc when they returned home. If they know in advance it's fine and they can liaise with the hospital to determine what is best to do but if you are trying to prove after the fact that you really needed first class seats or your entire family had to stay for 10 extra days it can get tricky! Hope you feel better soon.

Tks dh is in touch with them - although he's not very good at this stuff. We will take their advice but basically no standard seats their wise until 9 pm tomorrow

Morning all, well not a bad night as they gave me sleeping tablets and had my earplugs.

They've just woken me up at 6 here to take more blood - they are struggling as not many good veins apparently. They are going to test that to see if u need another blood transfusion.

Woken up to more blood (sorry if tmi( which is v scary and also very crampy am keeping fingers crossed. Don't get to see gynae until late morning . Dh desp to get me back into home turf but just don't see how I can at the monentHmm

Insurers are all on side so need to see what morning holds - they've just given me paracetamol and some anti spasmodics I think as far as mr Google can tell me....
