New thread !!

Thank you all for being so lovely :) I've calmed down and back to my usual cheerfulness. I felt so much better as soon as I saw my dad waiting for me in the carpark! :) we went shopping today and I got some new jeans and some boots. Plus my tummy has finally started to behave itself as it did briefly before chemo, and I slept through last night and night before Grin

kitkat don't envy you in Hollister! Thankfully A&F/Hollister weren't around when I was that age, I dread having to go in one one day. Our local one has been styled to look like it has a sort of thatched roof like some kind of beach hut in Hawaii or something?! Most bizarre as it's in the middle of the shopping centre. Plus very dark windows and a roped off queueing area outside! Glad you survived and DD got everything she needed :)

malt I hope DH is utterly spoiling you. You could start thinking about where you'd like to go on holiday once treatment has finished :)

lily hope the visions help and sit on your hands if you're tempted to Google! :)

thenight I'm sorry your sister needs further treatment but glad that she feels able to trust her team, that makes such a difference. I hope they can get a better idea of what's going on soon. Have fun at the theatre.

shooting I hope you'll get to drink champagne at sunset with friends soon, sounds lovely. And visions are a good idea. I read a book a couple of years ago called something like "your mind can heal your body", all about visualisations. I try to imagine my immune system dealing with any rogue cells, a bit like Pacman! :)

gigs hope packing went well and have a fabulous time in Paris :)

really please do post anything on your mind. I like that this thread is somewhere to be completely honest about it all :)

topsy hope you're having a lovely ladies evening and that it does not lead to a mass outbreak of forehead cancer tomorrow morning! Grin

I hope everyone is enjoying the weekend so far x

GoodbyeRubyTuesday · 19/10/2013 18:22

Cross posted gigs peppa pig sounds more fun than packing anyway! Bruce Forsyth is awful. Or you could have Katie Price, yuck.

GoodbyeRubyTuesday · 19/10/2013 18:23

Grin kitkat thanks! I'm really fussy so has taken me about five years to find a pair of boots I like Blush

topsyturner · 19/10/2013 19:05

Ok , I admit , I may have had slightly more than one small glass ..... Grin

foofooyeah · 19/10/2013 19:50

I'm just lusting after Ben Foden on Strictly ..... Swoon

malteserzz · 19/10/2013 20:11

I've just been to see sunshine on leith at the cinema was emotional but really enjoyed it dh loves the proclaimers ! Had fish and chips for tea and now watching X factor missing the kids but trying to make the best of it instead of moping

Gigs Bruce sounds ideal to me Smile

malteserzz · 20/10/2013 10:04

Oh I killed the thread last night ! How everyone had a good evening Smile

malteserzz · 20/10/2013 10:05

That was meant to say hope !

jchocchip · 20/10/2013 13:12

malt I thought mn wasn't loading last night? I spent the evening ironing and catching up on Doc Martin.
Not sure we should mention Bruce on here as I thought that we were all agreed that Mrkk is a knobbydickweedbastardgittosser, so there again maybe Bruce is an ideal name for gigs lump...

MaryAnnSingleton · 20/10/2013 13:57

have we had Tess Daly for an annoying and nasty lump ? her or Brucie.
Happy Tesco Paris trip dear gig
Am completely exhausted and everything aches after too much walking yesterday.Mindfulness is truly the best thing to practice to calm the mind and return it to the present moment - we are only truly alive and here in the present moment.

Sometimesiwonder · 20/10/2013 14:38

Hello all!

Sitting here working (ahem) so thought I'd pop in and say hello! Tess Daly and Brucie are both indeed annoying lumps - yuk to both, don't know which is worse.

Too much walking???? Tut tut Wink

Have been swimming this morning so feel very virtuous. Am sure it cancels out the wine I consumed last night Blushxxxxx

MaryAnnSingleton · 20/10/2013 15:00

am going up to work in a sec sometimes ! I fell asleep over my wine last night Grin

Gigondas · 20/10/2013 16:44

Bruce it is then Grin
Checking in from Paris tesco. Sympathy about the aches mas as I overdid it on Friday and am feeling it now.

Sometimes well done on swimming.

Going to try to catch up on the archers before giving the kids a very French supper of fish fingers and oven chips.

foofooyeah · 20/10/2013 16:54

I should be doing a couple of hours work but quite frankly cannot be arsed. Will do it tomorrow.

Ahhh, Paris, brings back memories of many many very drunken nights. Have a lovely time.

Knittingnovice · 20/10/2013 16:55

Evening all, have spent most of today in bed as I appear to be having an allergic reaction to the blood transfusion I had on thursday. I went to out of hours and have pirito, which had totally wiped me out. Luckily dd2 is taking bottles from my dm, just need her to take them from me!

Tomorrow us information day, so I should find out whether I'll loose my hair etc.

foofooyeah · 20/10/2013 17:01

knitting good luck fr tomorrow. Don't eat too hung up on symptoms and side effects, everyone is different and you e be if the lucky people who sail through.

malteserzz · 20/10/2013 17:36

Gigs enjoy France, hope you and me gigs are having a more authentic dinner later ?
MAS you are right about enjoying the here and now I must try
Knitting hope you feel better soon

Tax truck is hitting me a bit today not too bad just got achy legs so am having lots of nice baths and chilling. Kids are having a good time in Spain and if they're happy I'm happy ( ish) !

kitkat1967 · 20/10/2013 20:24

Very quiet on here today.

I've been busy as DS had a rugby festival - his team were awesome and only lost 1 match so a good day out but I was shattered by the end. Thankfully my DM lives round the corner from where the tournament was held so we had a late lunch waiting for us Smile.

Have spent the rest of the day with my feet up (due to achy legs and back) but generally much better then yesterday - I'm still finding that I only get the 1 one really tired day each week (plus the chemo day) so am plodding along quite happily for now.

Hopefully everyone else is quiet as they are having a nice time too and just having a peaceful day or are recovering from any Saturday night excesses!!

foofooyeah · 20/10/2013 21:03

Quiet day here. Just having a bottle of wine while watching Downton.

GoodbyeRubyTuesday · 20/10/2013 21:55

Hello all,

Nice day today, church this morning then family friend came over, and dad took me to the running shop to buy my new trainers for when I start running :) am planning to start a week on Monday! I'm very excited and my trainers are gorgeous. I also got a long sleeved running top so am all set Grin

gigs glad you're settled in Paris, hope you're having a good evening

malt hope the aches ease off. Good that kids are enjoying themselves :)

kitkat hope your aches ease too, and big well done to DS!

foofoo enjoy your wine

MAS mindfulness is definitely the way to go. Did you have your group today?

sometimes well done on swim

jchoc I saw Martin Clunes that time I was stuck in hospital with nightmare lady! Was exciting but :( as assume he was visiting someone.

I'm back in my flat now, I managed to only cry briefly when mum left so that's progress. I'm going to try and speak to various people this week to let them know I'm struggling with it all and hopefully get some help or just a bit more understanding :)

Goodnight all x

thenightisyoung · 20/10/2013 22:25

Ruby glad you've had a nice weekend. New running shoes are exciting - I love running. I am so unsporty but it really make me feel good and is fab at de-stressing. I did couch to 5k (very appropriate for me) a couple of years ago and apart from a break for my second op have been running (very slowly!) since. I really hope that you get some help and understanding at uni .

Theatre was really fun last night and I had some really nice fish and chips beforehand Smile

foofooyeah · 21/10/2013 06:43

Good morning, I am hoping that the quietness overnight means everyone is sleeping better? I am at the moment. Blood test this morning then taking youngest and a friend to Legoland. 97% chance if rain: lovely!

Have finally started to investigate reconstruction, have had my headin the sand up til now. It's all rather complicated.

kitkat1967 · 21/10/2013 06:51

hi foo - it does like everyone is sleeping a bit better. I got woken by my alarm this morning for the first time since re-starting chemo. Was up in the night with a nose bleed though Hmm.

I've been investigating reconstruction too and it is indeed complicated. Happy to try and get our heads round it together!! I am hoping to find out tomorrow if I need Rads or not as that has a big effect on options.

MaryAnnSingleton · 21/10/2013 08:00

good idea to speak to people and get more understanding ruby - running shoes sound fab- i love equipment for things, like my swimming watch !
Went to meditation -we did mindful yoga which I hope won't make me ache more ! I read out a piece from Thich Naht Hanh, a Zen Buddhist Vietnamese monk, which was about mindful breathing which made one of the others think of her dd who'd died ;last year of cancer and it was in her lungs so coudn't breathe. I hope it didn't upset her- the breathing bit made me think of my lungs and the fact that I can breathe easily (one of my secondaries chums has fluid on lungs Sad)
