This thread, hopefully, will be for those waiting, recovering or supporting

MRSA is not rife in my hospital. They publish their infection rates and they are very low (zero in the last 3 months).

king. Good news re infection but I hope you find a reason or the sweats just stop ...tonight

Going shopping for Lactulose tonight... Along with glycerin suppositories

I have had several ops and each anaesthetic has been different. I had one where I came round ripping the mask off and climbing off the trolley. The recovery nurse calmed me down...I was taken to the ward and became agitated again and asked for my clothes. I hadn't even been seen properly ...just pushed in the room and a very disinterested nurse handed me my clothes and left. I dressed and left.. I was found walking down the road outside the hospital by my exH who had come to visit. He took me home and I barely remember a thing. No phone call from the ward. Nothing

Should I have stopped my HRT before the op btw? No one has said but I remember you do stop the pill for some things...

I now have everything I need for the bowel situation other than dynamite.

greenfolder · 03/12/2013 19:01

One thing I do wish I had known is that I would be offered a spinal with a top up to knock me out. The aneastatist asked me 20 mins before the op. I did say that if it had been mentioned before I would have been able to research/ask mumsnet. I did go for it. I was still sick as a dog after and blood pressure was low the first night. But I didn't have that car crash feeling after and felt myself mentally by the following lunchtime.

thekingfisher · 03/12/2013 19:08

right just got back - consultant doesn't think its the ovaries but think it might be a reaction to diclofenac as I take it last thing at night. Said it was too soon for such a strong reaction and also no/few symptoms during the day so whilst not impossible is not the first he would assume.

Going to take ibuprofen instead and slip in codeine again as and when needed ( like tonight!) now bowels are functioning a bit better!

Thanks for all the chat and support been a bit of a down day really and had to suffer my mothers driving twice Smile Shock

Waitingaround · 03/12/2013 19:16

tired I took my HRT till the day of the op (had zolodex injections and took HRT to control menopausal side effects). After the op my HRT was increased and altered to a patch instead of tablets. Good luck for tomorrow Thanks
king sounds like a stressful day- make sure you have lots of rest and chocolates etc now...
odd the worst thing was that they didn't replace my notes-they wiped them off and continued to use them -yuck!!

TiredDog · 03/12/2013 19:35

LetsFaceTheMusicAndDance · 03/12/2013 20:01

Good luck for your op Tired. Is it tomorrow or Thursday?

Cremolafoam · 03/12/2013 20:23

Best of luck Thanks tired for tomorrow.
We are here for you afterSmile

greenfolder · 03/12/2013 20:46

Don't think I had morphine- was given oromorph later in the evening-i think the spinal meant I didn't need the morphine straightaway. He also said that they put in some long lasting painkiller in the spinal?

Oddsocksrus · 03/12/2013 20:51

Ooh! We made it into most active

It's Thursday Blush I'm obviously having too much pre witter

spudmama · 03/12/2013 21:26

Green i had the same as you spinal with pain relief, i didn't need any morphine until the second night, lady opposite had to ring for nurse as i was in so much pain, i was gutted when they gave it to me as had no lovely feeling just went to sleep saying to myself 'she has just given me bloody calpol' as it tasted the same.

spudmama · 03/12/2013 21:27

Meant to also say have just had the best bath ever first one since op

greenfolder · 04/12/2013 16:55

So a week to day since I had op. Slept for 7 hours last night-first time I haven't woken up for pain releif at 4. I got up and shuffled around a bit this morning but was back in bed by 11.30. Spent all afternoon with gripping bowel pains. That's worse than the rest of it put together!
Advice on wound care please? Bikini line cut- seems neat. Problem is that it is right in the crease of my overhanging apron of fat (nice). Nurse just said to keep it clean and dry. I am washing it twice a day, but its pretty hard to keep it dry as its sweaty. Would a precautionary smear of sudocreme be ok?

shewhowines · 04/12/2013 16:56

tired all the best for tomorrow. Will be thinking of you. Thanks

Hope everyone's having a better day today!

shewhowines · 04/12/2013 16:59

Don't know green

Can you spend an hour or two with nothing covering it, sort of holding it up to air iykwim?

shewhowines · 04/12/2013 17:00

Nothing all day, then you and I post within a few seconds. His weird is that?

TiredDog · 04/12/2013 17:24

Spud Grin at the calpol slur!

Green sudocreme sounds good to me but even better is the laying flat and uncovering it :)

Thank you shewho. It's a bit like Groundhog Day isn't it

LetsFaceTheMusicAndDance · 04/12/2013 18:14

Good luck tomorrow tired Thanks

thekingfisher · 04/12/2013 18:20

Hi all, good look tomorrow tired I spent morning in bed feeling very tired and sorry for myself then my friend came over - first visitor my friend came over and my mum went out so nice to have a little catch up and cheer up. Being debilitated is getting me down a bit. Good thing I didn't sweat like a pig last night but didn't sleep very much either - better luck tonight

I would be tempted to not do sudocrem and to do the airing thing - I also have the skin flappy hanging over thing and tried to get a bit of air in this morning ....

Waitingaround · 04/12/2013 19:10

Good luck tomorrow tired
green sudocreme would create a nice moist environment for all the nasties. As suggested think airing it is best...

TiredDog · 04/12/2013 19:55

Sudo used really really sparingly can be rubbed in to be absorbed completely I think but it's been 11yrs since I used it

spudmama · 04/12/2013 19:56

Angry just wasted 2 hours of my life doing a sainsburys internet shop and it wouldn't let me checkout ahhhhh. Back to tescos it is.

Rant over

Green don't put anything on it just get it out and air it at every chance i have overhang hence joining slimming world this week.

Good luck for tomorrow tired we will be here for you when you wake up
