Hi coco hoho. Happy Christmas Grin

Fingers crossed it's a cold odds . It's naughty they didn't mention the MRSA. I don't know much about it, apart from it is rife in hospitals. Were you typical or could it have been worse?

king lets hope its just the meds/op making you sweaty. The alternative would be horrid!

waiting hope your return to work goes smoothly and you are properly ready for it, unlike someone else mention no names letsface

tired soon be over for you too.

green chin up. it's still early days.

spud hope you had a nice peaceful day in your empty house.

Cremolafoam · 02/12/2013 21:11

Yep me too coco . Just 24 paracetamol and then a box of cocodamol when I couldn't bear it. No fancy biz here either.
Did you have the inflatable leg thingies in hospital? And the relentless anti- clot jabs?

shewhowines · 02/12/2013 21:24

crem the MRSA comment was for you! Sorry

spudmama · 02/12/2013 22:00

HoHolepew · 02/12/2013 22:08

I loved the blow up leg things Grin .

I had a horrible rash on my face about 4 weeks after my op. I thought it was impetigo, it turned out to be MRSA.
Funny that. What with us being at the same hospital Hmm

Cremolafoam · 02/12/2013 22:28

Hmm coco . That makes me wonder.
My sister did say to me after that one of the aux nurses didn't wash her paws before coming near me. HuhShock
. I'll never know though . Use all 4 hospitals in BT as an outpatient and have been in all if them for one reason or another in the last 3 months.Wink

greenfolder · 03/12/2013 05:35

As instructed had bath yesterday to remove dressing. Dressing seemed to be a waterproof type thing covered in v sticky adhesive-got it off but not the glue, which is now sticking belly to top of legs-anyone got any ideas? Hot water and soap make no difference? Have woken up in pain-spent yesterday trumping for britain, took large dose of lactulose but nothing yet

LetsFaceTheMusicAndDance · 03/12/2013 06:58

I'd try oil like baby oil or olive oil. I don't know why Confused

thekingfisher · 03/12/2013 08:26

Green try Vaseline when I had my nightmare in Paris I had dressings all over the shop and the stuff was like dried on latex weetabux to get off - Vaseline finally shifted it. Smear on leave it a few hours then try to rub off !

thekingfisher · 03/12/2013 08:30

Also I'd try senakot over night to help the constipation - I am now going regularly but is still v painful as things pass along the wound site iykwim . I have also taken peppermint capsules which I don't know are doing anything but give you minty burps in quite a nice way !

thekingfisher · 03/12/2013 08:32

Prolific messaging this am - I posted one and it's disappeared however another terrible nights insomnia and night sweatsHmm going to spk to ward - there is possibility this is temporary but that's 3 nights without proper sleep now and 5 pairs of p j 's.

I'd like a definitive answer and would prefer to take something to get balanced rather than roll with it

Oddsocksrus · 03/12/2013 09:59

Tonsils..... La la la la! The size of frigging golf balls.... Excellent timing

green oil of any sort should help with the adhesive soak a bit of kitchen roll and lay it around the edges of the dressing and gentle start picking/ rolling the glue off.

spud I hope your empty house day was lovely? I have one of those today, it is lovely so far and I've found men in black 1,2&3 back to back so I'm happy Xmas Grin

MRSA!!!! Wtf!!!! I was swabbed but heard nothing so have assumed that I was clear/low risk? I guess that because it is out of the news, people are assuming that there isn't a problem any more, I was one of them

Can I ask you all what happened when you came out of the anaesthetic? I'm not sure that I had a 'normal' experience and I don't want to say anything until I'm sure. All thd rest of the care I received was brilliant and I really miss them (and the lovely bed)

Odds yes lovely empty house today i need to tidy but will be doing it slowly. When I came round i remember trying to get the oxygen mask off being in a panic and repeating I'm going to be sick, the staff were lovely got me back in control i had the blow up boots on and blood pressure monitor all going off at the same time, think I was in recovery for about 2 1/2 hours, does that help.

King i had some very sweaty nights in the first week was also paranoid it had triggered an early menopause but things seem to be ok now, also have poo problems again and have now been given movicol i think its called.

Anyway off to caputre my breakfast on paper for my first week of slimming world, not sure what she is going to make of the bagel and peanut butter Grin

thekingfisher · 03/12/2013 10:35

Thanks all have had a rummage on the HA assoc website and some early sweats not unusual. I spoke to ward sister and she wants me to come I and have urine test and to check wound as this also seems to have opened Hmm I have about a 1 inch section which is gaping and then anither bit next to it. No pus or ooze but bleeding a bit and obv not healed ! Fuckity fuck fuck it also hurts very locally little stabby pains so will update later

LetsFaceTheMusicAndDance · 03/12/2013 10:39

King SadSadSad
You don't want a bloody saga like Crem had. Get her to send her kick-ass sister round. Smile

Cremolafoam · 03/12/2013 10:50

Oh king and odds you poor things!

I have no memory of coming round from anaesthetic as I didn't wake up until 4 pm . Slept right through from 8am. Op was at 8.
I had an oxygen mask and remember feeling I wanted that off. Was very sick. Kept sipping water and then puking it immediately . Went a bit mad with the morphine and had crazy hallucinations - dreamt up some inventions. Dreamt I was skiing across Switzerland. Wheee. More puking. Apparently talked in y sleep all night. The rest is a blur.

King let us know what they do with the wound.
The night sweats odd I remember having those too. But I had ovaries removed so I assumed it was meno symptoms. Gone since HRT patch.

greenfolder · 03/12/2013 12:04

Thanks-smears vaseline over swelly belly, adjusts enormous pants and elf stockings. Finally had a result in the bowel area, thank christ, instantly feel 100 percent better. Should I carry on with the luctulose do you reckon? Is it a false dawn? Doc is doing me an unfit note for 6 weeks so will see where we are then.

Cremolafoam · 03/12/2013 12:21

Green keep it up with the lactulose.
Avoid getting bunged up at all costs.
I speak from experience Wink

spudmama · 03/12/2013 13:19

Green second that on the lactulose i stopped and paid for it still gaving trouble now on some perscription stuff....

King get to hospital asap and see what they can do.

thekingfisher · 03/12/2013 13:33

Hello all well good news no sign of onfection - wee fine, temp fine, bp fine. Checked wound - open but not too gaping so should be ok- however nurse made appt for me to see consultant this pm as it does then indicate that ovaries have packed up at least for moment so back to hops this evening to see what he says

Oddsocksrus · 03/12/2013 13:41

Lactulose is our friend, stop at your peril :(

I was in so much pain in recovery, I had cuts in my palms where I had clenched my fists
I was shaking with cold/shock and they put a heat blanket on me
I remember them giving me 10mg in 2mg increments plus something else I don't know how long that was over, I was away from my room 4 hours

The recovery nurse had also not read my notes and so I came round with the mask on my face Angry and panicked about that too (psyco brother tried to smother me while I slept when I was 15, I cannot stand anything on or near my face)

Was this ok? I know not good but I didn't raise it when there but it bothers me more the further I get away i am iyswim?

The anaesthetist came to see me early the next morning, well he ran in, left a feedback questionnaire cracked a joke about them all being checked to see they hadn't turned into Harold Shipman and ran out.

Oddsocksrus · 03/12/2013 13:42

king I hope they're only sulking and all will be ok

greenfolder · 03/12/2013 14:05

King-did you get hormonal sweats before? I got them for about 3 days before my period-does this continue after a subtotal? Realise that I really should have asked the doc this before the surgery!

Waitingaround · 03/12/2013 14:11

I can't remember anything about the recovery room, I went down to theatre at 8am and woke on the ward at 3.30 freezing cold and shivering- the ward nurses gave me a bare hugger blanket and moaned about the recovery nurses a bit. I then had some water and was promptly sick over all my notesSmile

shewhowines · 03/12/2013 15:10

Worship at the feet of lactulose. You will need this in your life for some significant time!

Good about the lack of infection king . Let's hope the ovary situation is only temporary. Let us know what is said this evening. Good luck.

I remember asking for more pain relief when I came round, but everything is very hazy for most of the first evening. I went down at 1pm and I remember seeing the clock at 5.30 when I first came round.
It sounds as if you had a bad experience odds but I suppose people react differently. It's bad that they took so long to regulate the pain though. I hope you filled in the feedback form honestly. Mention it at your post op consultation.

Bagel and peanut butter sounds good, if not of slimming world standard Grin
