LetsFaceTheMusicAndDance
I guess I start..
My cervix is on the outside, it can't all hang where it should and no manner of pelvic floor exercises or devises will get it back there.
I'm 41, one fab dd and wanted more but there you are, can't now can I?

This thread, hopefully, will be for those waiting, recovering or supporting

Hello itwasnt lovely of you yo join us Smile
Glad your doing ok oddsocks
king hope your back on the ward now having a nap.
Waves to fled too...
she his are the legs?

LetsFaceTheMusicAndDance · 27/11/2013 17:13

Welcome Itwasn't good to have you with us. Hope your recovery is going well.

Fingers crossed for tomorrow Oddsocks and I hope King's op went well.

So 7 weeks to the day post op and I went back to work thinking it would be fine. Well why wouldn't it? I had a straightforward time with the op and no complications. I recovered well with just 1 setback when I walked downhill and I was walking an hour a day at a nice easy pace.

It should have been ok but it wasn't. I'm in bed waiting for 5.30 when I can take 30mgSolpadol/500mg paracetamol. I haven't been in pain like this since the middle/end of week 2 and I'm Shock because work involves less moving about than I was doing at home Sad

My line manager was fab. She told me not to go in till Thursday next week and that I would be having a phased return (which I'd said I wouldn't need). She was really good about it, especially as we're going through very busy and difficult times at the moment.

I feel disappointed as I wasn't expecting this.

Cremolafoam · 27/11/2013 17:43

Oh Lftmad - shit shit shit. You poor trouper . Thank goodness your line manager was cool about it. Very sorry it was a false start for you:0(
What was the worst thing? Sudden pain or overwhelming feelings?
I truly dread feeling like that. I'd be weeping I think . Rest rest rest.

shewhowines · 27/11/2013 17:54

oh no letsface - that wasn't part of the master plan Shock I suppose holding yourself upright in a chair all day involves different muscles to what you are used to using.

Hello new improved gas powered odds Hope the gas powering you, isn't too smelly Grin

Hope king is nice and comfy.

The legs are ok at the moment, I'm more worrying for the future regarding the lymphodema. I'll know if I need to start wearing the compression stockings in a couple of weeks time, when they measure me again. The diet isn't going too well!

I think I might have done myself some damage at sometime, though. My inner thighs are a bit sore like they were about 2weeks post op. I'm probably lifting too much, too soon. Shopping, washing basket etc! - or straining on the loo!
This last week I've also had a weird niggle to the right of my belly button. It comes and goes; I suspect that is due to the infamous wind Grin you'd have thought that would be finished by now.

Waitingaround · 27/11/2013 18:10

Oh dear lets at least you gave it a try I was very impressed that you were going back and felt very lazy myself that I wasn't till exactly 8 weeks. I think you should just spend the next week resting and of course christmas shopping :-) like I intend to. We can then return at 8 weeks together Smile

spudmama · 27/11/2013 18:16

Oh lets thats made my mind up going to the drs to extend sick note was really worried about going back to work as don't feel ready at all but it will be 6 weeks next tuesday at least your manager is being sensible with a phased return make sure you rest rest rest and rest we will be checking.

Odds like you had bits poking out where they shouldn't felt a difference the moment i came round and then realised how bad it had been once it was fixed Blush

King hope things went to plan see you on the sofa very soon

Itwasnt welcome how are you feeling ?

Shew i had plans for a diet to really mad with myself for putting on so much weight.

Walked around the shops with some friends this morning taking painkilers before i went then had 2 hour nap on the sofa another indication not yet ready for work

thekingfisher · 28/11/2013 07:10

Hi guys

Op went very well and reassured it was right thing to do as the embol done in Paris hadn't worked properly so it was a time bomb waiting to happen .

Bad news is I don't get on week with morphine I haven't been sick but just hate the woozy feeling .... I am going to try diclofenac but feel really quite grim. Staff here are ok although left me with no water after I was back up in room and no one came up when I presses my buzzer thingy and then they kept moving all my stuff out of reach !

Anyhow had catheter out this morning which was fine nurse has put my pants and pad on but has managed to put pants on backwards ! But so uncomfortable don't want to get her to flip them.

Sorry I'm having a moan but I think it's the morphine making me feel so weird. Hmm

On the upside it is over with now and I can concentrate on getting better now

Thanks for all good wishes and welcome to newbie who is an oldie in the club

Oddsocksrus · 28/11/2013 07:33

Oh king there you are! Please feel free to moan away, that is awful they aren't paying attention to water, pants and everything else, you will feel better really soon, I promise. Have you got visitors today who can look after you a bit?

I'm glad your surgery was done at the right time, you wil feel a difference really quickly.

Thanks and Brew to all having a proper rest today

shewhowines · 28/11/2013 08:23

So glad the op went well. Not so glad that you're feeling so grim. Sad Today is the worst so get through that, then it will improve rapidly each day. Thanks
You were concerned about whether you were doing the right thing or not, so at least you feel happier that you did the right thing!
The nurses are so short staffed, aren't they? They just don't have the time for doing more than the basic stuff. And some are nicer/better than others! Make a nuisance of yourself if you have to.

Hope you make it to the sofa today crem

Keep resting everyone else.

I'm off away on a jolly today so won't post till Saturday I need to move with the times and get a smart phone but will be thinking of you all.

shewhowines · 28/11/2013 08:25

odds not crem!

spudmama · 28/11/2013 09:50

King glad it was the right thing to do, they don't hand things ops out wiliiy nilly but you still question yourself.

Odds hope yiu make it to your own sofa/bed today here is nothing better.

I have been to the drs this morning (poo troubles again) had a lovely long chat seems like i am doing to much and should really be listening to my body and i am going to sign you off for another month come back then and we will see how you are doing that means 10 weeks off work min. Fled can you hear me hope you we go back to your drs and tell them so

Please please please ladies rest rest rest don't go back to work until you are really fit and well i was told the scar tissue takes 3 months to heal and knit together we only have one chance and getting better . Bossy pants have now been removed Grin

Waitingaround · 28/11/2013 12:42

I think we all forget how large the surgery is.
I had my post op appointment with the consultant today, I thought he might indicate that I was a malingerer who wasn't healing quick enough. Instead he was amazed at how well I was coping and was happy with my 8 weeks sick leave but reminded me how extensive and complicated my surgery was. He told me to rest and recover properly, but said in 6mnths to 1year I would feel great Smile. He isn't allowing full intercourse till 12 weeks though!

Oddsocksrus · 28/11/2013 14:50

Blimey. A shower, car ride and I'm done. Won't attempt the stairs for a while, sofa, duvet and a cat

Welcome back Oddsocks. And I hope your morphine sickness has worn off King

Resting resting resting everyone! Smile

Cremolafoam · 28/11/2013 18:01

I am shattered . I did a turn around sainsburys this morning and am a complete wreck.Wink

Odds that's brilliant you are home!
King welcome t the other side. Hope you are more comfortable this evening and sleep well tonight.Smile

thekingfisher · 28/11/2013 19:06

Feeling much better this pm though much more sore than I thought it would Hmm

I really didn't get on with morphine - made we feel like I was going mad. Also nursing staff really horrid, made me sit up in chair whilst in agony and in I tears and guven hadn't slept all night felt a slightly inflexible rule ... That dr said I needed to get up and about.

Anyway going home tomorrow - staff have been lovely this pm just about to have glycerin suppository Shock so may well sign off until tomorrow

Glad you are home odd looking forward to being where you are

TiredDog · 28/11/2013 20:59

Bit of a roller coaster this thread.
Letface I hope you feel better for a rest. Shewho I hope your jolly involves resting jollyness. King that all sounds very horrible. I don't get on with morphine at all and found it constipating...

thekingfisher · 28/11/2013 21:26

On the upside glycerin suppository very effective ! Would rexonment

TiredDog · 28/11/2013 21:31

Rexonmenting sounds painful tbh Wink

thekingfisher · 29/11/2013 08:54

Had much better nights sleep still feel woozy but physio has been to have me up and down the stairs. I'm on diclofenac and paracetamol now but am missing the tramadol .... They want to see how I get on.

I'm going to have a shower but do feel about 1000x better than yesterday

Hope you are all doing well. Tired dog when are you in?

TiredDog · 29/11/2013 12:19

Thursday Confused getting twitchier by the day

In other news I've just won £200 John Lewis vouchers for posting comments on a MN survey thread :)

Are you home yet Kingfisher or likely to go home soon

Waitingaround · 29/11/2013 12:31

Wow that's great tired you should use it to treat your self to some post op goodies...

Oddsocksrus · 29/11/2013 12:41

I love tramadol, nearly as much as the morphine :)
I've been given 6 to take home, 1 at bedtime each day
Today is so uncomfortable I want to take it now!

Sorry, hit a miserable patch, I'll be ok tomorrow

OP posts:
thekingfisher · 29/11/2013 12:52

Odd, have you taken everything else that you can. I am being discharged this afternoon and have diclofenac, paracetamol and dihydrcodeine (sp) ? To take . So have plenty to keep me topped up. If you are in pain I would take a tramadol - rather than waiting it out.

I feel much better today and cannot speak highly enough of the glycerin suppositories ...

Cremolafoam · 29/11/2013 13:10

Don't be in pain odds. Take the pill.
I was double dosing on paracetamol and cocodamol in the first week.
King yay for suppository !!
Tired well done on the John Lewis win!! What nice boost for youEnvyEnvy
