Morning all, new thread, croissants on trolley, and I'll put a brew on.

OP posts:
malteserzz · 03/09/2013 23:13

They remind me of the knitting nancy we used to have as kids Grin

SparkleRainbow · 03/09/2013 23:18

Me too! Have to go to bed now, up at 6 for work in the morning, but half day tomorrow so will try and pop in in the afternoon. X

jchocchip · 03/09/2013 23:39

Thinking of emin and her family tonight.

Shootingatpigeons · 04/09/2013 00:49

gigs Can't you get Mr gigs to hold the bit you would hold in your other hand Grin. A frame works for tapestry and embroidery as well as cross stitch. Elizabeth Bradley does some nice tapestry kits www.elizabethbradley.com/home King Charles Spaniels on the home page! It was meant to be Smile I had to stop buying them as I get a bit obsessive, like Suduko and jigsaws, end up staying up all night.

KK Scales are evil and I have noticed that the ones in Doctor's surgeries are especially evil. We have some digital ones that seem to be very good. Next time you have an appointment coming up we will devise a Jockey type weight loss programme........

Trice I am the nits guru, first a Prep school where the Mums were too posh to push nitcomb, then a Youth Theatre thing where half the kids were from deprived backgrounds, so the nit comb was out every Saturday evening at 6. I agree with KK that conditioner and nitcombing are the best answer, they are resistant to the treatments anyway and as the school nurse said, "even if you don't manage to comb them out it chops their arms and legs off and they can't breed Hmm When I moved to Hong Kong and I found a nit in Little Pigeons hair I naively wrote an email to the class list saying I had found it and suggesting the other mothers might want to check, which triggered a storm of really offensive emails saying that their children's hair wasn't dirty so they couldn't possibly have nits. little pigeon should be kept from school until they were assured "she was clean" and that the classroom should be fumigated immediately, and the carpet on the floor replaced Confused Oh the joys of cultural difference! Thankfully the class mum was an ABC (American born Chinese) the top of the social tree and told them all what was what, and to behave......

Amber I am seriously Angry Shock Sad about church thing too. Surely a moral compass should be a requisite for speaking at a church festival, but clearly not. Can the Tamoxigang not teach him a little lesson? If you let us know where he can be ambushed in the virtual world.

Kitkat I am sure you are relieved the drain is out, you seem to be romping to recovery. I took a long time to be reaching up to washing lines etc. in fact I still struggle Wink

Had missed gbbo for a couple of weeks, surprised to see Keira Knightly not just still in but actually to have stopped the Keira Knightly biting her lip thing and being quite good. She is at same uni as big pigeon who is struggling to comprehend why a first year would be baking instead of clubbing and drinking working. I fear we may have to start backing her. Glad the custard thief went #custardgate

reallyreallyworried · 04/09/2013 05:21

Hi all,

Well today's the day! Heading off to hospital at 7. Been a rough night waking every few hours. I have been desperate to get this surgery out of the way, but now the day is here, I am dreading it Sad

Sorry I know how pathetic that must sound, especially after what some of you have been through! But I suppose it's the fear of the unknown! Keep trying to tell myself that by this afternoon, the surgery should be over!!

I am seriously hoping that I am on the top of the surgical list, then there's less time to worry.

Anyway, good luck to anyone else having surgery or treatment today. Hope everyone has a good day.

Xxxxx

Sorry to hijack again, just wanted to let you know that mum (EMIN) passed away peacefully this morning at 2:50am.

We were with her as she took her last breath, holding her hand and telling her that we loved her.

All of her extended family visited yesterday, everyone that she loved was here and they all got to spend some times with her in private. All she ever wanted was to have her family around her and she got her wish and we are grateful for that.

We are devastated at the huge hole that has been left behind and that she was taken from us far too early but in many ways it has not sunk in at all.

Yesterday she received the amazing blanket that some of you guys made for her and we were all really touched by this. It was a wonderful thing that you did for her and we will always remember the thought and effort which went into it so thank you very much xx

amberlight · 04/09/2013 05:56

Hugs for you all, DaughterofEMIN. Sad news...

jchocchip · 04/09/2013 06:12

So sorry to hear of emins passing but I am happy that she was with her family. My love to you all at this difficult time and thank you for letting us know-she touched so many of our lives.

Reallyworried-love to you . It's not pathetic at all to be worried but I am sure all will go smoothly. I shall be thinking of you today and we will all be here to get you through any wobbles afterwards.

Big unmn hugs (and of course a Brew as early).

amberlight · 04/09/2013 06:43

Isabeller · 04/09/2013 08:03

Love to EMIN and her family and friends xx

MaryAnnSingleton · 04/09/2013 08:05

daughterofemin much love to you and your family - am pleased that you were all with her when she slipped away but am sad that you have lost her - many kind thoughts and sympathies to you all.
really lots of good luck for today xxx
kk am sure both scales must be completely crap. Good on you though to keep going - you'll get there I know xxx
Waves to dear sparklerainbow - you are a sweetie !

I spent T's primary school years in fear of nits but amazingly he never got them. I combed him religiously every week with conditioner and also used Nitty Gritty repellent spray - he grumbled like mad about it but it did the trick.
As for GBBO I'm not warming at all to student girl, though agree she's stepped up a bit. Dh and I agreed that Howard is like an Aardman Creature Comforts animal, possibly a tortoise.

Shootingatpigeons · 04/09/2013 08:13

Daughter I am so sorry to hear that you have lost your mother and glad that she left you in the way she wished and surrounded by so much love. I know as a mother the hardest part of facing death is the prospect of leaving your children and the thought of the pain they will have to bear. We are all thinking of you in your grief and loss. I know your Mother has put a great deal of thought and love into her funeral which I hope will be comfort and a chance to celebrate the generous spirit she undoubtedly was.

really Of course you are scared and worried, you don't sound pathetic at all, either that or we all are. It is normal. Important thing is that you will wake up later and the Cancer will be gone. Thinking of you.

topsyturner · 04/09/2013 08:33

Daughter of Emin

I'm so very sorry to hear that your lovely (and beloved) mum died .
This is a cruel disease that takes people far too soon .
So glad that she got her wish though , and died surrounded by the people she loves most in the world .

I know that my biggest regret , when I die , will be leaving my children behind . So having you with her must have been such a comfort to her xxx

Thank you for taking the time to update us all xxx

topsyturner · 04/09/2013 08:34

Really all the best of luck for today .
It'll be over before you know it , and it will be such a relief to know that bastard cancer is gone !

KurriKurri · 04/09/2013 09:03

Dear daughterofEMIN , - I am so sorry you have lost your wonderful Mum to this cruel disease. I'm glad that she passed peacefully surrounded by the people she loved, I know it is devastating and will take you a long time to come to terms with your loss, my heart goes out to you and all your family. HerNextDoorAt21 · 04/09/2013 10:04

daughter I am so sad to read that your mum has passed away but very warmed by the description of her passing with all of her family around her. My mum passed away just over a year ago and I know how comforting it was (and still is) for all of us that we were with her when she went to sleep for the final time. Rest in Peace lovely lady x

HerNextDoorAt21 · 04/09/2013 10:11

Good luck for today really, I just know how relieved you will e when the operation is over and you take back control of your life.

I am a big fan of the GBBO and disturbed ?? to find that my DH is REALLY liking the uni student ......I cant believe she is still in. I agree with the Howard thing - Ardman creature hahahahaha ...... he's a bit creepy ! I was so hungry last night looking at all of those lovely petit fours too :(

Gigondas · 04/09/2013 10:16

I love how addictive gbbo is ( and am late to party but into masterchef too which think you like hnd).

UNi student is irritating but find over complicated Frances with her Heston type novelty cakes but army wife is worst. Crying over muffins is just too much.
