Morning all, new thread, croissants on trolley, and I'll put a brew on.

Malt - I'm hoping that I will be OK to wear a bra tomorrow - i will def feel better to be fully dressed. BCN already adjusted the 'softy' to what she thinks i need to get some sort of even effect!!
Thanks for the info on the drain Gig - I feel reassured now - stress levels are reducing.

Betsy - i don't know how your 'negotiations' are going but in a lot of ways i do think I would have been OK with a bilateral mx (and associated reconstructions) so think you are wise to push for that if it's what you want.

MaryAnnSingleton · 03/09/2013 17:56

I do admit to staring (discreetly) at people in hospital while I'm waiting for my drugs- it's fascinating as have never seen such really huge people (I mean mega huge) -and lady carrying a wee bag going to the shop...it's naughty of me, but human nature I guess.
In my defence I am an artist so need to observe !
Had to go to sleep for an hour this afternoon as completely wiped out- made me cross as have lots to do.

GBBO !!!!!!!! foccaccia sounds delicious- yum.

KurriKurri · 03/09/2013 17:58

I'm trying to catch up, have been really busy (for an unemployed/unemployable person Grin) Had hospital appointment this afternoon for my reconstruction, and had to wait ages. I have still not reached my target weight Sad I thought I had, but I weighed 3 kilos more on the hospital scales than I d at home! Angry - 3 kilos - that's nearly half a stone, - my scales can't be that wrong surely? Anyhoo - I've got to go back in December and be weighed like a prize pig again

Kitkat - I;m glad your op went OK, don't worry about the drain - they take it out very quickly and its not as uncomfortable as abdo. drains.

waving to all xx

Shootingatpigeons · 03/09/2013 18:16

kitkat So you were in fact staring and laughing at someone with a funny eye Wink

MaryAnnSingleton · 03/09/2013 18:23

oh poo kk - bugger.

KurriKurri · 03/09/2013 18:25

I know MAS - that's what I said or words to that effect.

My plastic surgeon is so slim and beautiful and glamorous she makes me want to throw up! Grin

OP posts:
Sometimesiwonder · 03/09/2013 19:44

Never mind KK - it's a setback, certainly, but you are very nearly there xx

KurriKurri · 03/09/2013 19:57

Thanks Sometimes Grin

Meant to say - my Mum finally moved into her new flat today - so that's a load off my mind - she'll be much safer there - and it sounds lovely, - the warden organises lots of social activities, so she'll be in her element Grin

OP posts:
kitkat1967 · 03/09/2013 20:12

ha - No - she didn't actually have a funny eye - that was a figment of DD's imagination.

So - drain out, surgeon pleased with healing etc. Got to go back next tues to be pumped up as he wants to reach full pumped status asap. Grin. He also said he will do any 'corrections' necessary to the other boob when he does the reconstruction so basically i can be lifted and increased if i want!! I think the phrase was 'lots of ladies use this as an opportunity' Wink.

And on a more serious note I will also find out next tuesday about the histology (apparently they can tell how many cells got killled off by the chemo) and the rough plan but will need to see onc to get exact plan. I think another 3 chemos is on the cards but after my break i'm up for it now and know i can get through it if necessary.

sorry to hear you're not quite there yet KK but you're so close I am sure you will make it for next time.

amberlight · 03/09/2013 21:48

Already on the Wine after a day training teachers and then wrestling stupid church people (not literally). Got gbbo on record.

Hurrah for lack of drain, KitKat! Fingers already crossed for the next bit.

KK, drat and arrgh.

MaryAnnSingleton · 03/09/2013 21:56

great that drain is out kitkat !
soon be there kk but v annoying that surgeon is so perfect . V pleased for your mum Smile
Poor amber - you'll enjoy GBBO,it's puddingy

trice · 03/09/2013 22:09

Dd was scratching. Checked her head. Bloody nits! She has been soaking in hedrin once which had to be washed off with fairy liquid (shampoo wasn't shifting it) and I have been over her with a fine toothed comb. I hate nits. They make me squirm. Not a fun way to spend the evening.

Hope the tax truck team are feeling better soon.

GoodbyeRubyTuesday · 03/09/2013 22:09

Grr Kurri that's so unfair! I expect her scales may be wrong tbh, the ones at my GP are about half a stone out!! Good news about your mum though :)

kitkat good that things are progressing. And that you can be evened up if you fancy it :) I've always said I'd never have cosmetic surgery but I'm actually considering it after what my surgery has done to my tummy! Hmm focaccia sounds yum.

Wine for amber, sounds like a frustrating day!

MAS I know what you mean. I'm very curious and often find myself staring at people, I'm never judging just wondering about their life stories and that kinda thing Blush I sound like a right creep!

We've just been out for a meal to celebrate my parents' pearl wedding anniversary :) it was delicious, we went to a lovely Greek restaurant.

Hope everyone sleeps well tonight x

KurriKurri · 03/09/2013 22:24

Oh no trice - talk of nits makes me itch too! - DD had them at primary school - and generously gave them to me! Grin I found the saturating their head in conditioner and then combing through method worked well for us.

Congrats to your parents Ruby - how many years is Pearl? - is it 30?

Waving to all - am imagining amber having fisticuffs with church folk Grin

Great that drain is out Kitkat - they are such a pain to trail around with.

Am determined to keep plodding on with the dieting - the temptation when I feel I've failed is to think 'what the hell' and scoff everything in sight. But I'm going to stick to my sensible eating and exercise because it is working - albeit slowly! Thanks for encouraging words - it helps Smile

Daughterofemin..... You are all in my thoughts and I send to you my love. I hope Earth is as comfortable as possible, I know being surrounded by those she loves and who love her is a gift beyond words.

Ladies I love you all dearly, and although I may not often be here, and not even often lurking, you are in my thoughts every day, you touch my life more deeply than I can express, and my life has been endlessly enriched by your friendship, compassion, selflessness, humour and love.

.........just saying...... X

Gigondas · 03/09/2013 22:42

Grr about weight but you will get there kurri -3kilos tho is a lot.

Good that drain out kitkat and also sounds like you have more info to go on. Also maybe a break on chemo will help rest of it go easier.

Ruby- restaurant sounds nice.

Trice-yuck on headlice , I watch big gig like a hawk as she was overrun with them about a year ago (no thanks to her cousin who seems to have them permanently).
SadConfusedAngryHmm About church thing amber- I must say a lot of your experiences make me even more jaded in views on church.

Enjoyed gbbo and nice plate of pasta with scallops as getting cooking mojo back. Dietician also thinks carbs at night will help me sleep and in effort to put weight on(sorry kurri as I would happily take your pounds if I could - weight issues are pain whichever you go).

Got some cross stitch kits to do as need some activity to help arm and knitting too tricky at moment. Someone suggested crochet -topsy is that doable one handed?

Gigondas · 03/09/2013 22:43

Meant 3 kilos a lot to be wrong-it's not an ikea scales as ours is pants like that.

Gigondas · 03/09/2013 22:44

Cross posts- hi sparkle xx

SparkleRainbow · 03/09/2013 22:51

Hi gig.....how are you?x

Gigondas · 03/09/2013 22:55

Good- getting stronger after back op and enjoying being relatively pain free bad able to do normal stuff . How about you?

SparkleRainbow · 03/09/2013 23:01

That is good news....did you get a balcony and good food?

Ok here. Managing ds medical stuff is still a challenge, got appt with a good knowledgeable paed next week, so that is good. never any answers though....and certainly no solutions.

KurriKurri · 03/09/2013 23:05

sparkle, lovely to see you xx

Gigs - I sympathise because it think it is actually harder to put weight on if you are too thin than it is to shift some if you are the opposite!
My scales are pants, - I think the hospital ones are probably even pantser, although my consultant wasn't buying 'your scales are wrong' Grin

Crochet might be a bit tricky with one hand, I think there is a kind of knitting hting that is a sort of loop with pegs you wind the wool round (I'll see if I can find it to show you) which might work one handed.

My DD once had a sort of thing where you push little shapes into a board to make a picture, like this - which she said was quite fun and might help with getting back fine control.

SparkleRainbow · 03/09/2013 23:08

missed you

Smile at your scales are wrong.

SparkleRainbow · 03/09/2013 23:10

Crotchet needs the second hand to create the tension..... Knitting looms look good though.
