Ooh, builders, remember the noise well. And the dust. And the way they seem to manage to spread the chaos to every room in the house. Many sympathies - and Cake

topsyturner · 03/09/2013 09:50

Sometimes lovely to see you x

Malt have a great time today , enjoy your bag of goodies !

Sometimesiwonder · 03/09/2013 09:54

topsyturner · 03/09/2013 09:56

Are the builders at least worth perving over Gigs ?
Grin

Sometimesiwonder · 03/09/2013 10:02

Trust you Grin

DaughterofEMIN .... I hope that your mums passing is as peaceful and pain free as possible and send you all a fond hug.

I am sitting at topsys after dropping my DS into school for his first day in P1 .... He said "I am very ford to P1" ..... I managed to work out that he meant looking forward to p1.

As some of you know from FB, I am getting another operation next week to FINALLY close the last pesky wound on my boob then a few months off before I go for the reduction on The other side.

Fond regards to all of you lovely ladies ..... A group hug seems very un-mumsnetty but somehow appropriate x

Sometimesiwonder · 03/09/2013 10:14

I have a beautiful orange candle burning for EMIN (or Earth, as I always called her) and I feel strangely peaceful sitting here playing at working. I hope she is sleeping peacefully too.

MaryAnnSingleton · 03/09/2013 10:42

that sounds lovely sometimes
hnd hope the op sorts it for good, you poor love. Grin @ ds looking very ford !

Gigondas · 03/09/2013 11:29

That sounds lovely. I am going to dig out my lovely Jo Malone one to light for her as has lovely lime smell. And group hug seems appropriate.

Topsy- the head builder is ok if you like Jason statham baldy look.

Others not so good but they do work.

Am hiding in loft as quiet and feeling mellow as just had reflexology. That feeling will go after been into school (it's only an hour at lunch) and been exposed to full alpha mum ness.

Hnd that's good you are getting wound sorted but its been a bloody nuisance. Hope topsy will be administering Medicinal wine. My infected leg almost better (just small scab that needs dressing but it's superficial). Needs to heal so I can swim.

Glad ds liked school ( loved the pics).

kitkat1967 · 03/09/2013 11:40

I also liked the pictures HND - takes me back a bit Smile . I'm looking forward to a big Gig picture later in the week!!

malteserzz · 03/09/2013 13:31

HND I wasn't your friend on FB so I've just requested you ( you can ignore me if you want ! )
If any of the newbies want to be friends send me a PM it's nice to put faces to names Smile

Had a lovely morning. Nice group of ladies, all different ages and stages of treatment.
We all got given a bag of goodies and they took us through each step, cleansing, toner, moisturiser etc then how to apply all of your make up. Got some lovely stuff ysl, Estée Lauder, Clinique bare minerals,Clarins, no 7, Nivea etc
Everyone had different stuff according to their skin colour and it was good to try colours and things you wouldn't normally choose
Good to chat to people too and see people with no hair, wigs, hats and scarves
If you haven't been I would really recommend it Smile

kitkat1967 · 03/09/2013 13:47

Glad you had a good time Malt - I'm supposedly on the waiting list for a slot in October but I've not heard anything since my initial phone call.
In my efforts to embarrass DD(13) we went out to lunch today - me complete with picc line, drain, pressure bandage, bad hair and only 1 boob (can't wear a bra until drain is out) - but fair play to her she took it in good spirits and wasn't too traumatised. Had a very nice meal but 1 lady did stare a lot which we all thought was very funny!

foofooyeah · 03/09/2013 13:53

Malt that session sounds fab - right up my street and I haven't even started chemo yet

kitkat - I am slightly worried about going out and about with bad/no hair and no lashes (if it happens that is) but I like your attitude and love staring down staring people .... so shall be channeliing your attitude when the time comes.

MaryAnnSingleton · 03/09/2013 14:10

oh I do like the sound of the freebies- should book mine !

KurriKurri · 03/09/2013 14:36

Sorry - I haven't been online for a couple of days, I have just read your post DaughterofEmin Sad
I am so sorry that Emin has taken a turn for the worse. Your mum is a much loved poster on mumsnet, I wish you all strength to cope with the days to come, and for Emin the most peaceful passing surounded by her family, - her love for you all shines through in her posts, she is a very special lady. xx

kk -waving to you xxx

Shootingatpigeons · 03/09/2013 15:53

kitkat Why didn't you go over and thump the staring person! I am sure it would make a great post surgery exercise Grin The only time anyone stared at me (when I forgot my prosthesis) I didn't realise what she was staring at until she had gone and I soooooooooooooooo wished I had thumped her, it would have been one for both of us. It must have been ten years ago I still ponder what I could/should have said my sense of injustice doesn't get out of proportion at all I suppose I should go out one day without my tit, wait for someone to stare and let fly, for closure!

malt Sounds fun, do you think they would do me a retrospective session Grin

Betsy And all those on the Taxotere bus. I had friends who went on to Taxol (not sure if it is exactly the same) and yes they described the bone aches and fluey feeling. Neighbour just had their Yew cut down because the berries are so toxic they were worried that just one would kill their new puppy. I gaily commented "It is, I have a few friends who have been poisoned by Yew" Good news is that it is nowhere near as hard on your blood counts and immune system. Bad news is it feels like flu, good news is you are not as likely to get flu......

A group hug sounds a good idea, with EMIN at the centre

amberlight · 03/09/2013 16:25

Gigs, you're in the loft??! Shock
Get down that ladder, young lady!

Afternoon all. Waving to everyone and leaving out Brew for the Tax Truck ladies.
I'm in for group hug if there's one going, but otherwise very happy to proffer a reassuring hand holding.
KiKat, grr re the staring lady. How rude!

malteserzz · 03/09/2013 16:44

Grr at staring lady Kitkat glad you didn't let it bother you
Not looking forward to the tax truck ! feel for you all suffering

I'm off out tonight ( with my made up face ! ) to a world buffet so will be eating my way around different countries

Gigondas · 03/09/2013 16:55

I am out of loft now (it is converted Wink) and back from school thing.

Big gig seemed fine tho think novelty may wear off when back. Mini gig was trying to join in so think she thinks she is going to- she will miss big gig I think.

I got few states in head scarf but used to stare back. sometimes it's ignorance, sometimes it's being nice -'must admit to smiling at lady on tube with head scarf as know how tiring but what's triumph to do normal it is when go out on chemo.

The lgfb sounds great- you can do justice to buffet.

Group hugs everyone back with much love for emin.

Anyone for Wine and gbbo later?

kitkat1967 · 03/09/2013 16:58

well I thought the staring lady was funny but in the end DD concluded that she must have had a false eye as it kept looking at us - even funnier i thought.
Also as my drain is now draining a yellow liquid I did wonder if it looked like wee coming out of me Wink
I'm just in a don't care mood today. Also the BCN rang to tell me to take painkillers 15 mins before my appt this evening so now I am worried about what it will be like to have the drain taken out - stupidly thought I would have a local or something!!

malteserzz · 03/09/2013 17:01

Glad big gig got on ok :)
Thanks for the reminder about gbbo I will have to record it
Just catching up with honey boo boo Grin

Gigondas · 03/09/2013 17:02

Yellow is just lymph - I wouldn't worry. They always say that about drains out but it just stings a bit even take it out but it takes seconds so not a big issue. You may get some draining on the dressing as takes a day or so to scab over but usually for after that.

Good that you don't worry and even better that dd ok about it.

malteserzz · 03/09/2013 17:03

You are looked after so well Kitkat with people ringing you, I'm jealous !
Hope the drain removal goes ok bet it will be nice to get rid of it

kitkat1967 · 03/09/2013 17:07

calamity here now - DS missed his bus home (a teacher takes him to the stop at the correct time as he is only 9) - I assume it ran early as not all schools are back and did not wait. So DH has had to mercy dash to pick him up and fingers crossed (and traffic permitting) they will be back in time for DH to take me to my appt - grrr...... just what i didn't need.
Will def need GBBO viewing after all of this.
But get me -I just made sea salt and rosemary foccacia in honour of it being GBBO day and it is delicious Smile.
