Have ordered it for him! Smile

Have just dunked DS in the water butt. Did the job of cooling him down very nicely. . .

Gigondas · 06/07/2013 18:38

Glad you ordered lego as worth rewarding effort.

Am ConfusedShock at sober topsy but did you have a fun pub night? Copt you seem to have weekend of gigs judging by fb -am Envy and want to hear all about this one.

Hope malt has great time at the races.

Smee take it easy while dh is away -I agree he must be mad (and I like the Tdf).

Am feeling bit stronger which is good but concerned about leg as wound leaking in a way that is similar to previous infection. Nurse didn't seem fussed at dressing change today so may question the proper ones when I see them on Monday.

Nice to have some sun, less nice is big gig phase of every other word being poo matching mini gig phase of repeating every word.

Lily- I have kept my hair short since chemo as I like it.

Love to mas ruby kitkat notjenkins trice jchoc hnd and anyone else have missed.

MaryAnnSingleton · 06/07/2013 19:25

Hello all, I have to say I avoided this thread because when it came back I was a bit grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr but I had my last radio yesterday. I have loved reading your lovely posts and am so glad you are all still on here.

trice · 06/07/2013 21:23

Lovely sunny day. Dcs bought most of the second hand toy stall at the summer fair. Very good value at 20p a time. Dd got loads of playmobil which is now all over the floor. Painful when you tread on it.

malteserzz · 06/07/2013 22:13

My feet hurt after 9 hours in heels and dancing away to human league who were amazing ! Did all the old hits and finished with electric dreams.
Will catch up tomorrow
Hops everyone's ok xx

topsyturner · 06/07/2013 22:49

ILGC great to see you !
Last radio done ? That's a milestone .
How's the rest of the family ?

I'm sitting here laughing at poor HND
She has put a tent up in her garden and her , her 2 boys , and their cousin , are sleeping out there tonight
Only I don't think she's having much luck with the sleeping side of it Grin

I'm off to my nice comfy bed !
Glad everyone's day went well .
Malt you looked lovely in your photos .
Night All x

MaryAnnSingleton · 06/07/2013 23:19

Ilgc! Lovely to see you! Wine for the end of rads.

Healing vibes for gig. At least you have a rest from the pump.
Day out today, been dozing all evening. Going to try and get up.for a swim in the morning. Nighty night.

malteserzz · 07/07/2013 09:51

Hope everyone's going to be enjoying the sunshine today Smile
And watching Wimbledon
Thanks topsy :)
Gigs how's your leg today ?

Gigondas · 07/07/2013 11:09

Not too bad thanks malt- am still not completely happy about infection risk but will speak to proper nurses tomorrow. How are your sore feet?

Am laughing at hnd and tent too topsy - doesn't sound peaceful.

aches seem a bit Easier even with less painkiller - going to carry on taking it easy but fingers crossed its not a blip. Throat a little better but think ice cream may help.

Is everyone else in the sun? I expect pool will be out later when gigs return from in the night garden show (sometimes having a bad back is good ).

topsyturner · 07/07/2013 11:16

Ah so you've been faking it Gigs to avoid The Night Garden !
Can't say I blame you ... GrinGrinGrin

HNDs garden shenanigans went strangely quiet , shortly after my post last night .
I think she may have killed them ShockGrin

Off to granny's shortly .
It's stinky warm here today , but sun not making many appearances yet .

I desperately need to go bra shopping .
None of the 3 bras I presently own , fit any more .
I really do think the government should give a post mastectomy bra allowance !
Mastectomy bras (if you can find ones that fit !) tend to be so much more expensive .
And what with DS having his birthday in a couple of weeks , and our holiday next month , all my meagre funds are tied up with those Hmm

Moan over , there are worse problems in the world Smile

Gigondas · 07/07/2013 11:21

Going bra shopping is bad at best of times, worse if you have particular issues. Also there was an article in times mag yesterday about masectomy swimwear - good but some of it was eye wateringly expensive.

HerNextDoorAt21 · 07/07/2013 12:04

Yawn !!!!!! Campers were up
At 6am !!!!! My legs re aching from putting the tent up
And I have already taken all three yo
Soft play centre and Tom
Is saying he's bored !!! Help !!!!

malteserzz · 07/07/2013 12:16

Gigs feet not too bad now thanks but think my shoes have had it after heels sinking into grass all day!
Topsy bra shopping must be hard, and expensive :( where are you going on holiday ?
HND well done for braving the tent all night but yuk to 6am !
We've had ds and friends playing in the garden and paddling pool all morning have told them this afternoon we are watching the tennis and chilling so they can go to the park or someone else's house, trouble is I'm the only mug who lets them all play! I don't mind but they are loud !

makingdoo · 07/07/2013 13:25

Hello ladies - you filled the other thread up fast! Hope your all doing well. Haven't had a chance to read the full thread yet but I need your advice, again!

SIL was doing so well but then got an infection last week. She had her second round of chemo on Thursday and again the steroids have had a massive effect on her mentally. She is in a bad way at the mo - not eating, not sleeping properly and really tired. Also her mouth is in bits so eating is hard.

I'm going to visit later to make her soup as her DH doesn't know how Hmm

I just don't know what to say or do for her - This happened after her first chemo and she improved after a few days and then infection hit. Is this what she can expect for the next 4 months? I'm so worried for her and just want to help in some way

Copthallresident · 07/07/2013 14:27

makindo You say that she had an infection last week but they gave her a round of chemo on Thursday? Usually they would delay treatment if you have an infection and if the chemo / steroids are affecting her to that extent I would have thought there would be things they would do for that too. Is she telling them everything? They really do try to make it as humane as possible and have a lot in their armoury in the way of medication, reducing and delaying doses, support, alternative therapies and counselling to achieve that. I would make sure she is talking to them, and taking advantage of all they have to offer, absolutely no point suffering in silence. Soup is good though, my friend loved pea and lettuce and I had a thing for Miso.

HND Grin at your night time shenanigans, that is so way beyond the call of good parenting. A sainthood can't be long coming....

gigs We love In the Night Garden, ever since we were on holiday with friend's 6 year old and watched it every morning with him (actually he usually went off to the pool because he got so fed up with all the cackling women). Once you appreciate it was clearly dreamt up by someone on drugs and meant to be watched ironically it is very funny!

Hope the infection carries on clearing up.

Creaking this morning, but slept very soundly last night so I know what I need for my insomnia, Two hours jumping about to The Stones and Jugs of cocktails of random alcohol thrown together by desperate barman faced with hoards of desperately thirsty punters and running out of booze. The Stones were absolutely amazing, they really do seem to get better with age. I've seen them in every decade since the 70s and this was the best yet. The organisation was appalling though, absolutely packed, not enough facilities and the loos started flooding when the water backed up. Thankfully we had forked out to be near the front and could escape the worst of it.

malteserzz · 07/07/2013 16:35

Makingdo you are lovely to be thinking of and looking after your sil Smile you could always get her some fresh soup to keep in to have when she fancies, the Covent garden ones are nice. I really hope she picks up again soon.
Copt sounds like a great night, I said the same about sleep last night was the first time since dx I had a normal nights sleep without pill think the dancing, alcohol and just having a good time and not talking about cancer helped
We also had them running out of loads of stuff at the bars, I started on pimms but had to move on to wine !

Come on Murray, 2 sets up !

MaryAnnSingleton · 07/07/2013 16:45

makingdo - poor sil - you are a sweetie. Soup sounds good idea.Sorry to be brief,am looking in between drawing and watching tennis.

OP posts:
makingdoo · 07/07/2013 18:50

Copt She had an infection the previous week which flared up again last Sunday. She was given an injection on Monday which brought her white cell count back up again. They had planned to delay a week but she really wanted to get it over with so the chemo went ahead on Thursday. She had mentioned it last time and she's now on different steroids. Still waiting on referral for counselling though!

Thanks Malt, she managed some soup and I will make up another batch for Tuesday. She is quite thin so can't afford to loose much weight.

Maryann Thanks. I just want to help her. She has lots of support but its so hard to know what to do to help.

We watched Wimbledon today so that kept us occupied for a while!

Hope you are all enjoying your Sunday and thank you for responding x

topsyturner · 07/07/2013 20:08

Makingdo if your sil is being sick , she needs to phone her onc dept .
There's no need to suffer these days
You are doing brilliantly helping her , what we all crave is someone being fairly normal around us .
So popping round , making soup , and watching the tennis is spot on !

I may have had 2 glasses (small) of rose this evening .
2 was enough though , and I'm now on the coffee . And some rather delish cookies called Maryland Gooeys .
I would pop some on the trolley , but I appear to have eaten them all ...

makingdoo · 07/07/2013 21:05

topsy she's not actually being sick. It's more mental with her - she is having some dark thoughts and is understandably struggling to process what's happening to her. She's very down and thinking/fearing the worst.
Her lack of appetite seems to be down to the fact that her mouth is so sore. She did perk up after the soup though Smile

Love those Maryland cookies - difficult not to finish the pack really. Just sitting down with some Wine now. Not enought for the trolley I'm afraid ....

malteserzz · 07/07/2013 21:20

Makingdoo is she going out at all, even just for a walk ? If you can persuade her to get out a bit it might help, I know when I'm busy I feel better mentally than if I just stay at home thinking.

makingdoo · 07/07/2013 21:35

No Malt, she won't go out at the minute. She's worried about infection and is a bit obsessive about germs etc in the house.

It was the same last time and it took 4 or 5 days for her to feel up to leaving the house, even then it was just a short walk but she did feel better for it. We persuaded her to do a few wee things that week and then she got her first infection on day 10 so it set her back again. She's convinced she will die if she gets a cold.

I'm so sorry to offload here, I can't tell DH how worried I am as he had convinced himself she's just fine

topsyturner · 07/07/2013 22:24

Off load all you want Making , if anyone understands that need , we certainly do !

Tell her to get some difflam mouthwash for her sore mouth .
And to get some nice ice pops !

I'm looking at nice bras on line tonight
Actually , I'm looking at hideous bras , and telling myself they are pretty !
Mastectomy bras suck big ones Grin
