Morning all, - hooray for pain free loo experience Gig - that is definitely progress.
betsey congrats on shrinking boob - sounds as if chemo is def. doing the trick.
trice -well done on your walk, and for phone call - it must have been hard for you.

MAS hope you are having fun, - congrats to T on Passing his exam, -sorry he was slightly disappointed with result, but so much depends on what happens n the day - DD in all her music (piano and trumpet) exams had the full range of marks from scraped passes to distinctions - some days she just played better, or kept her nerves under control better, or had a nicer examiner who put her at her ease. But well done to him, it is a real achievement - singing is very hard - I imagine like playing the trumpet, when you are nervous you have to work really hard to control your breathing - exam conditions never going to be ideal for that!

Copt - situation with mum and mad sis is complicated. Mum is in denial if you say anything, but frankly she is being manipulated and bullied to a high degree in my opinion. I'd better not say any more, but it is a very difficult situation.

Old lady dog is curled up in her chair, - having scoffed a large breakfast.

Rain here - although it is still v.hot (or maybe I am just in a permanent menopausal hot flush condition Grin)

love to all, good luck with pitch Smee, and hope Ruby is more comfy today.

GoodbyeRubyTuesday · 23/07/2013 13:00

Gooood morning,

What a horrible night. I woke in absolute agony, I ended up actually screaming in pain Confused I could barely walk from bed to loo and back. It's ridiculous.

I phoned the surgery and the doctor I saw yesterday isn't in today so they asked the duty doctor to call me. I explained about yesterday and asked if I could now have morphine and she told me I was being rather dramatic for a bum rash Angry I have an appointment with her this afternoon so she can see it and hopefully will realise how bad it is. I'm taking my mum for moral support as she can testify that I woke them up with my screaming!

I feel rather silly though, after speaking to the doctor. I can't understand why it hurts quite so much but it is like the whole area is on fire. Mum wonders if nerves are a bit messed up after the surgery. I know it seems melodramatic but it really hurts and if I was going to invent a problem to get morphine it wouldn't be a bum rash Hmm

gigs fantastic about pain-free loo experience, and new drugs, I hope you continue to be pain-free :) and enjoy reflexology!

malt glad you've got a plan and hopefully feeling a little more positive about it all? :) I went to the loo plenty of times during chemo, just wheeled my drip in, although appreciate would be a bit tricker with cold cap but definitely doable! :)

kurri Sad your poor mum. It must be hard to admit your own child is being so unpleasant! I really hope horrid sister backs off. Flowers for you x

MAS glad you're having a lovely holiday, that area is special for my mum's family so we go there sometimes, tis beautiful :)

copt hope nausea has cleared up and mum hasn't scolded you too badly! Grin me and my sister used to fight a fair bit but now we aren't living together full time we get on a lot better!

betsy yay for boob shrinkage! Grin

smee I'm good thank you, apart from pain am keeping cheerful, this is just the last hurdle (hopefully!) before I can start getting on with new normal, tramadol and paracetamol are taking the edge off a little but didn't do much when it was very bad. Good luck with your pitch :)

Waving to everyone I've missed, I hope you're having a good day x

malteserzz · 23/07/2013 13:55

Ruby I'm fuming for you, how awful to be in so much pain and told that you are being over dramatic Hmm I hope you get the morphine at the appointment and that it helps.

Lilymaid · 23/07/2013 14:02

Collected wig this morning - hairdresser cut it to suit and instructed me into how to put it on. My friend thinks it is very good and suits well. Will be interested to find out DH's opinion fwiw!now for an afternoon of dozing/TV to regain strength.
Sounds like most of us have found the heat hasn't been great for us. Although it is raining here it is still around 25 C here and my fan is cooling me down. Looking forward to Day 8 of cycle when the antibiotics start ... Only 48 hours!

GoodbyeRubyTuesday · 23/07/2013 14:08

Thank you malt fingers crossed :) I hope you're having a nice relaxing day after your wakeful night!

lily good news about the wig :)

malteserzz · 23/07/2013 14:21

Lily good news about the wig will dh even notice you know what men are like !
Yes I'm tired today but just spoke to lovely lady and am booked on a look good feel better session in September, could have gone in August but already have an appointment on the day. Sounds really nice Smile

KurriKurri · 23/07/2013 14:58

Wig sounds good Lily - nice that you have had it cut to your own style. I didn't have a wig, but have several friends who did on chemo, and you would not have known in any way they were wearing a wig - they looked brilliant.

Ruby - how horrible for you, sounds like doctor is being a git less than helpful, I'm so sorry you are in so much pain, it is ridiculous that you should have to put up with that, good plan to take mum with you - its hard to bat your own corner when you are feeling tired and sore, - she can beat up the GP for you Grin

malt - the look good feel better sessions are lovely - and you get a big bag of freebies, - all very nice posh stuff, - I hope you really enjoy it - something to look forward to Smile (Plus I learned how to make up on in the right order - I don't wear much make up, but I was totally clueless about putting it on)

My ASDA delivery has just come, - so we have food again Grin - pasta salad tonight I think, as I have to go out to a committee meeting for my art club, so can make that before hand. Also bought some more big navel oranges, - I've been putting them in the fridge all day and eating them for pudding, -very refreshing, maybe tempting for anyone on chemo and feeling a bit yuk?

GoodbyeRubyTuesday · 23/07/2013 16:27

malt yay for Look Good, Feel Better! Something nice to look forward to :)

kurri yay for food! The oranges sound yummy and refreshing.

The GP was more understanding in person although she didn't know anything about the op I'd had so I had to explain how internal pouches work. I'm glad my mum came with me as she was able to confirm how much pain I had been in and I think that convinced the GP :) anyway she had a poke around and didn't think the rash was enough to cause the pain so she thinks it is a nerve problem and has given me amitriptyline which is an anti depressant in large doses but in small doses works for nerve pain. It might take a few days to build up in my system but fingers crossed it works Grin I'm also going to try a low fibre diet again and see if that helps slow things down to give the skin a better chance of healing!

I have cream cakes for the trolley :)

KurriKurri · 23/07/2013 16:52

I'm glad you got something Ruby and GP was nicer in person Smile - I take amytriptiline for my post herpetic neuralgia (residual nerve damage cause by my shingles episodes) I find it works quite well, it also makes me very sleepy, so if you take it in the evening and hour or so before you got o bed, you may find it helps you get a good night's sleep.

The feeling of being on fire does sound very similar to the nerve pain I get, so that may well be the cause, - amytrip. works well for me and they can up the dose if necessary (there are other drugs that works in a similar way for nerve pain, so there are several options out there to deal with this kind of problem) Hoping it works and you get a nice rest tonight Smile

Gigondas · 23/07/2013 17:20

Kurri- cold fruit is yummy isn't it? One of few things I can face.
So glad that Gp better in person ruby. I am on sister drug for nerve pain in arm (Nortrytptiline) and Agree night time is best. It does work well so hope it helps you. Nothing worse than that sort of pain.

Reflexology was lovely, hAir cut and am well enough to sneak out for work dinner With dh. Yes it's dull but I can dress up and be normal.

Lovely specialist nurse rang to see how I was doing as so worried she saw me. If no improvement her and onc were going to get me in "to fix me" as I should'nt be in pain like that. I moan about my onc at times as she can be scary professors mcgonagall but she is very caring and dedicated as is nurse so I have faith back about not having to suffer pain.
My fault as should have done something sooner.

Copt- fingers crossed this lasts as will be up for coffee next week.

Gigondas · 23/07/2013 17:20

And loved Copts rant about prince.
YEs please for beer mas.

malteserzz · 23/07/2013 18:04

Ruby glad doctor was more sympathetic in person and fingers crossed for a good pain free night tonight
Gigs enjoy dinner out Smile

trice · 23/07/2013 21:26

Glad Gigs and Ruby getting on top of pain.

I spent the morning catching tiny baby frogs with dcs. The rain has brought them out in their hundreds. We popped them in a bucket and took them over the road so they didn't get squashed. We had a great time.

Had coffee with my lovely friend this afternoon. She has cfs and assorted other disorders so we are both pacing everything. She wants me to teach her crochet. I am a terrible teacher but I do have three cupboards full of assorted lovely yarn and a library of books and patterns. Not to mention the dreaded drawer of unfinished projects. She doesn't know what she is letting herself in for!

malteserzz · 23/07/2013 22:10

Sounds like a lovely day trice Smile

MaryAnnSingleton · 23/07/2013 22:20

Still can't keep up but am hoping all is well with ruby, gig and dear Old Lady Dog.
Where are you having/ had dinner gig ?
Lots of nice beer on the trolley... We had a nice time at brewery and lunch there..brilliant cheese which I have no idea whether was pasteurised or not- frankly don't care ! Then decided we would go to Snape after all. Walked through the reed beds and pottered.
Tomorrow we will go to Minsmere to look at birds- lots of walking so hope not too hot.

topsyturner · 23/07/2013 23:09

Sounds like a Happy Holiday Mas

Trice well done on the frog rescue .
We get them in our garden occasionally . (Although DH was traumatised after decapitating one with the strimmer Hmm )

Got the all clear on my smear test .
Woohoo !
I did say it would be a cruel God/All Powerful Being that gave me Cancer of the Fanjo as well as the boob !!!

Now just have to wait a week for my blood tests .
Then my ct .
It's all go here isn't it ?

DS will be 14 on Thursday .
He's a bit blasé about it all . It's obvs not cool to get excited about birthdays any more Grin

We have a lovely big moon here tonight .
I've been sitting here watching it climb over the hill opposite my house

topsyturner · 23/07/2013 23:10

Why is it , that if I post anything in the pointy brackets , I then can't see it ?
Can you guys see it ?
Is it just the bloody app again ???

malteserzz · 23/07/2013 23:22

Yay for smear topsy ! Not sure what you put in pointy brackets so don't know if I can see it or not !

Copthallresident · 24/07/2013 00:53

I saw the bit in pointy brackets < checks self for strange hair growth and howling> Grin [howl] already nicked the beer and cheese Grin

Yippee that you have joined clear smear brigade.

Frogs don't worry me so much, loads in our pond. It is our Toads I worry about. Did you know they live 50+ years, so an accident with my lawn mower and I am the toad version of Cancer Sad

Ruby hope the Doctor has got to the bottom of it Grin but seriously sounds like if that can't resolve it you should keep making a fuss. Bummer Blush that last chemo has been so difficult. Xx

gigs look forward to it.

Gigondas · 24/07/2013 06:58

That's good about smear topsy. What have you got for ds birthday?

We had a frog who got stuck head first in the decking last year- couldn't get him out . It had gone later in the day so I think next doors cat had liberated it.

Trice- you can join the topsy crochet gang. I need to start knitting again as still making blanket for mini gig from when I was pregnant.Blush

Dinner was ok - nice venue at Dorchester with swanky roof terrace ( could see eye lit up for royal birth). Food bit poncey when feeling nauseous and was a work thing for dh but i made it through Grin. And not too sore today.

Mas- sounds like having good time .

Talking about new Alan partridge film on radio-sounds good.

Gigondas · 24/07/2013 06:58

Hope drugs help you have better night ruby.

malteserzz · 24/07/2013 07:36

Morning all
Gigs glad you made it through dinner, venue sounds nice
Morning coptSmile

In laws are coming to pick the kids up today and take them to Warwick/ Stratford for 2 nights so they're out of the way for tomorrow. Hate not knowing how I'm going to feel will try not to go on about it too much today
Going out for dinner with dh tonight anyway Smile

jchocchip · 24/07/2013 08:26

Morning all- yay for clear smear topsy and evening out sounds posh gigs. wish my dh would take me somewhere nice
Family outing to see worlds end after work today, so going in a bit late...
May do a bit of crochet on bus, would go for coffee with knitting group but really need to go to work...

Gigondas · 24/07/2013 08:42

Malt-am going to remind you of normal life returning once you get into chemo swing. We will all hold your hand through it.

Jchoc-knitting sounds way more fun than work.

Brew? Got friend coming round for play date with her dd later but quiet day here.

kitkat1967 · 24/07/2013 08:48

morning.

Great news on smear Topsy and glad you are out and about Gigs

Malt - what time will you be leaving for your appontment tomorrow? FYI my hair is still in - I shed quite a lot just before and after 2nd chemo but that's settled down now and I am assured no-one else would be able to tell. I'm embracing the non-washing now but am going to try and get a few accessories as hair is fairly short and flat to head.
We're also out to dinner tonight - very unusal for a Wednesday. Mind you we seem to eat out a lot at the moment - twice at weekend (with DD) and I'm always lunching somewhere as I'm home all the time Blush
