Lovely last day of holiday, wander round lymington, day on the beach, meal then outdoor swim.
Amber would rather be on a cruise though lucky you I love cruises, had another booked for October that we've got to cancel. Which ship are you going on ? I think I'd make the same decision as you regarding the check up.
Love to all I've got to go and play cricket now then it's wine and malteser time Smile

jchocchip · 15/07/2013 20:22

Ooooo amber It's our 25th next year, so you think I could persuade dh to get a passport and come away? probably not... Beach looked lovely, malt.
Heck it was 31 degrees when we set off despite my adorning the car with newspapers for the morning! and not much cooler when we got home. I was glad of the frozen bottles of water and mini boxes of frozen apple juice to tuck down my bra... The air con doesn't seem to be coping, probably needs a re gas :( At least it seems cooler oop north.

Yes Topsy lob a cold one in my direction Grin

gig hope you find some tempting foods soon. I don't feel like eating as much in this heat, but a bit of summer fruits, strawberries and ice cream, maybe. I'm even off chocolate a bit, far too melty ...
nj less stressy vibes coming your way. My periods are shot too, but have other meds from gp to help with the volume.

amberlight · 15/07/2013 20:48

Cold beer? Why not. Ship - Celebrity Cruises. Fab. Went last year to celebrate finishing treatment 'cos we got a bargain deal. Mad Greek Captain. Very relaxed on board.

notJenkins · 15/07/2013 21:18

Thanks for being so understanding. I feel a lot better now after a day of crap TV and a long afternoon nap ( I had my nightie on all day and no pants Grin )

My plan is to go to the GP to chat to her to see if she can help me as my onc / endocrinologist appt is not until October.

malteserzz · 15/07/2013 21:25

NJ glad you feel a bit better make sure you carry on taking it as easy as you can x
Amber we went with them at Christmas to the Caribbean, didn't pay thank goodness as it was FILs 70th , it was fab !
Cricket finished so wine o clock, will miss watching the isle of wight ferry go past

smee · 15/07/2013 21:36

Cruise sounds wondrous, Amber. Well deserved. Smile

Like the sound of your few days too, Malt. Especially the malteser and wine part. Grin

Good idea to talk to GP, NJ. Hope they don't head tilt and are down to earth and helpful. Cancer's so bloody corrosive. Hmm

Any news from Gig? Hope the physio worked their magic. Smile

Quite serenely attired here in shorts and a vest top. DS and I have been lying on our bed reading Harry Potter - good god those books are long.. Had no idea they were that dense. Definitely need beer after all that. Shock

Copthallresident · 15/07/2013 22:03

Have just had two hours gardening as was finally cool enough to actually move, also in vest top and shorts smee with lots of unsavoury saggy bits sagging at the edges but I don't care. I am now rocking the trailer trash look I laid on the bed all afternoon watching Les Revenants / the Returned, partly the heat and partly further research into Copt's Law.

Amber It had to be a cruise, nothing else but champagne on the Captain's table is good enough for the Baroness. DH rather fancies a cruise but it is up the fjords in a post boat Hmm I suppose it would complete my experience of mail distribution Sad and given my previous experience I would probably be thrown overboard...

gigs Hope the physio was heartening. Could I tempt you with my blackcurrants, raspberries or gooseberries that I am picking straight from the bushes for breakfast.

Waves to all.

Off to watch lovely Olivia Colman, apparently she uses the See You Next Tuesday word Shock

topsyturner · 15/07/2013 22:25

Evening All

It's Pants Ahoy at Chez Topsys tonight !
I'm hot .
And ever since my furtling smear last week , I've had really draggy period pains .
No period though .
Sigh ...

trice · 15/07/2013 22:43

I have started on the loganberry crop Copt. I am going to make a summer pudding as the red currants and black currants are ready too.

I feel fit enough to start some exercise today. I don't have any idea how much to do while on chemo. I did a bit of research and found an article talking about how chemo for breast cancer ages your body by 10 years! Kick a woman while she's down why don't you?

It had a woman talking about going on the running machine an hour after treatment with fec (she must be one fitness obsessed loon) . I am going to start walking as my lungs try to fall out if I go up the stairs too fast and I am only a week out of the wheelchair!

jchocchip · 16/07/2013 05:33

Yay for feeling fitter, trice. Gentle walking sounds good but be careful in the heat, Make sure you are drinking enough everyone.
Work today. May cycle in if I can be bothered to get up early. Could do with more sleep. Need blackout curtains...
Any plans today? Appointments or chasing up? I managed to get my foot ultrasound booked, still havent got xray results, may chase them.
Hope its not too hot today. May have to paddle in the fountains at lunchtime :)

amberlight · 16/07/2013 06:27

Champagne with the Csptain? Blimey no ...at our ticket class, it's mast climbing and deck swabbing Grin

malteserzz · 16/07/2013 08:15

Morning all
Talking of exercise I was asked to take part in a study to see how exercise helps people going through chemo, think its like a walking programme and think I'll do it, might make me go out more
Home today boo, will swim 1st either indoor or outdoor depending on the weather I've not got out of bed to look yet !

kitkat1967 · 16/07/2013 08:28

wierd Malt but we had to cancel a crusie as well - our first one and the kids were gutted as we spend ages choosing it and don't normally do 'big' holidays!! Also my neighbour's friend has had to do the same.

malteserzz · 16/07/2013 08:46

Makes you feel so guilty doesn't it Kitkat Hmmwhere were you going ? You'll have to do it next year x

smee · 16/07/2013 09:19

I was told to think of exercise as my fifth line of defence (1st op, 2nd chemo, 3rd rads, 4th Tamoxifen). My Onc believes it really boosts your recovery and chances of no recurrence too. She said just try to walk when on chemo though, not running machine. Shock

Trice, that's great you're feeling a bit more energised. Do you swim at all? That can be lovely and gentle, though I know a lot of people don't like it.

Good that you got your ultrasound booked, Jane. Has it stopped you running?? Must be mighty annoying.

Grin at Amber swabbing decks. Though I'd bet you end up on the Captain's table by the end of the cruise. How could he resist you. Smile

No news from Gig yet. Hope you're feeling okay and have managed to eat a bit more. xx

KitKat how are you feeling now? Still a bit shaky, or has that calmed down?

Nowt to say here. Just cycled with DS to school and back, now free to work in pants. Am sure the cat doesn't mind.. Grin

Gigondas · 16/07/2013 09:40

Hi I am here- Physio was ok . Referral to shoulder Physio for arm/shoulder (have no control over left upper arm since op). He said weakness etc is to be expected post op and recommended swimming. This is fine but can't go til leg heals.

Am with trice (maybe we can be fitness buddies) as I can't walk more than a couple of hundred yards or stay standing for more than few minutes. Anything that involves bending my legs is agony. Have been scoutng the net for fitness ideas but not sure what to do.

Eating a little better (dietician calling later ) but heat doesn't help. But Copt fruit sounds yummy.

Amber cruise sounds fab and think putting off appointment is right thing (though I am optimistic like your dh).

Jchoc good that have scan booked and you definitely need a paddle.

Malt have been Envy of your holiday pics.

Nj how are you today?

Topsy-is it still pants weather? How are period pains?

Trice- how are you? Any more Skype calls?

How you doing betsy and lily?

kitkat1967 · 16/07/2013 10:51

Malt - Scandinavia and Russia (kids don't like the heat).

Smee - feel like I am turning the corner today - still a bit shakey but not so tired and up and dressed at a reasonable time. Kids both out for the day so going to take it easy but hopefully not actually sleep all day!!

notJenkins · 16/07/2013 11:43

Good morning from me, I am feeling much better today I really needed a rest.

Letter from the onc today to say they are pleased with my bloods. This is not pleasing for me though as it means I am going to be a hyperthyroid maniac forever ! GP appt made for next week to discuss. My GP is lovely and very good. I still need to send her a card as she sent me for the scan that picked up my cancer despite having no symptoms or detectable lumps at all so I owe her big time.

gigs glad the physio went well. I personally find physios very scary and there is a lot of professional rivalry with them and us at work. We do the same 1st yr training as them at uni and I think it stems from that.

kitkat glad to hear you are feeling a bit better today. Scandinavia is on my wish list and we hope to get there in the camper van one day.

malt glad you had a good break in Lymington.

Waving to everyone else and throwing ice cream on the trolley.

I have leggings on btw so am not in the pants gang today.

GoodbyeRubyTuesday · 16/07/2013 12:00

Helloooo :)

I've been AWOL as lots going on here, auntie and her somewhat high maintenance dog here to stay, sister back from travels, chemo side effects kicking in, etc etc

Every cycle I get what I like to call my lucky dip side effect. I always get the diarrhoea, sore bum, nausea and the bruised feeling, and then I get one other symptom - mouth ulcers, an infection, sore throat etc. But for this cycle, as a sort of finale, I got all my lucky dip symptoms so ended up having to stop the tablets early as it all got too much! So I'm now on my way to being chemo-free Grin

So many posts I can't reply to all of them but...

MAS saw your scan news on Facebook and was very excited - very pleased for you :) and good you're still enjoying meditation

amber yay for cruise! That sounds fabulous, I hope you have a brilliant time

copt very belated happy birthday Blush I hope you were thoroughly spoilt.

Waving to everyone, and extra big hugs to anyone feeling rubbish :) especially if on chemo - it'll be over before you know it, it really will, the past six months have flown by! :)

I have apple fairy cakes and thorntons triple chocolate biscuits for the trolley.

Have a good day y'all!

GoodbyeRubyTuesday · 16/07/2013 12:02

nj glad you're feeling better today. But grr about the hyperthyroidness, doesn't sound fun at all! I wrote a letter to my practice manager about the GP who got me diagnosed as she was still training so thought it might count towards her final marks :)

Copthallresident · 16/07/2013 12:19

Phew! another scorcher! I am feeling for all those feeling rough anyway as I seem to be constantly threatening a headache and only slept last night when I abandoned even the pants Shock but then Olivia Colman had said the See you next Tuesday word on TV last night and England has gone to the dogs.

I exercised whenever I could, even made it to an exercise class in my good week, as well as swimming and walking. It was an important part of feeling normal for me and I suppose I sacrificed my veins to it as I refused a line so I could continue.

kitkat Scandinavia and Russia sounds great. I hope you are planning to rebook it as something to look forward to. I found getting out the guide books and planning a welcome distraction, and using what I had read about in visions of what I and my friends would be doing when we were fit and healthy again, to keep away the night demons. It was very sweet indeed to realise all but one of my plans/visions, and that was only delayed by friends' tragedy. Can't say too much as would out but gigs will confirm that was a tragedy on a soap opera scale and put my challenges in perspective, but we will get there for her too.

Glad you have turned the corner after no 2, four to go?

Amber my parents always seem to wangle a place at the top table at some point in their trips, and I can be sure that being a Yorkshireman Dad will have booked them cargo, never mind steerage. I am sure that Captain Pugwash will be deferring to your aristocratic status and not mistaking you for Seaman Willy Grin

gigs was the physio not able to offer some tips on your back pain as well, or is it just a case of building up when your energy returns. I have some back exercises I could help you with if that is appropriate. Have missed breakfast run but will do some picking when it cools enough for me to get out there in my pants.....

Waving to everyone else, not heard from Ruby recently, hope she is partying even if only in the wee small hours before the sun rises and she has to find some darkness Wink

I fear I am dissolving, feel pathetic as was over 30 most of year in Hongkers, and 90% humidity and I used to go off and hike across mountains, now I can't pick a raspberry Hmm

topsyturner · 16/07/2013 12:39

Afternoon All

It's a lovely cool 20 degrees , no sun , and breezy here .
So I have put silky dressing gown on over my pants .
Am waiting for a parcel delivery , so thought it best not to traumatise the Man From Parcelforce Grin

kitkat1967 · 16/07/2013 12:56

yes Cops - 2 down - 4 to go in theory but on did say that if no shrinkage after a few cycles he might try something else. Not sure if the 'something else' is a different chemo or something other than chemo (any guesses welcome). I suspect I will have the joys of a repeat MRI sometime soon!!

Glad thatTopsy is covering up for the parcelforce man - I'm sure he will be grateful for your efforts. Am envious of cool 20 degrees though - I still dare not go out here.

MaryAnnSingleton · 16/07/2013 13:05

hey ruby -thanks ! sorry about you getting all your lucky dip side effects though..no more capecitabine then ?
My onc. said the best thing is being active, more important than diet etc...so I do try to walk as much as I can...today it's collecting S from dance club after school and a hot walk to her house.

I went to bed last night with my Peppa Pig cold pack on my chest. It makes me tireder than eve,the heat.

OP posts:
smee · 16/07/2013 13:12

Grr for you, Ruby. Must be tough going. The only way is up though. Huge (gentle) hugs from me. xx

MAS, I know what you mean about the heat. Exhausting.. Hmm

KitKat, definitely take it easy Hope you get a snooze or something.

Gigs, glad to hear physio was good and said weakness normal. Still mighty annoying, but 'normal's a word we like. Can you just walk and build from there? Or gentle Yoga perhaps?

NotJ, good luck with the GP. Hope they can help. Good news on bloods. I know why you're worried, but good news in medical land translates. Smile
