New thread.

DH has his priorities all wrong, Betsy. He's watching the Tour de France rather than fetching Pimms. Shock Haematoma's not quite so extraordinary today. Breast is twice the size it should be and a yellowy black bruised colour, but at least it's stable. Seeing Surgeon tomorrow, so should know more then.

The hair thing is such a sod. Seems like the final insult really. It will come back. Mine's thicker than ever. Smile

BetsyBoop · 30/06/2013 20:32

We are watching le Tour after Top Gear finishes so no spoilers please Grin

malteserzz · 30/06/2013 20:41

Glad it's not too bad smee :)
I'm looking forward to the Michael buble programme at 9 stop laughing everyone I like a bit of buble !
There was a lady at wembley last night with no hair she was young and looked beautiful but I wouldn't have the confidence

smee · 30/06/2013 21:22

Buble away, Malt. Grin

Betsy, DS and DH are obsessed by the Tour. I don't understand it Smile

NedSchneebly · 30/06/2013 21:31

Ooooooowwwwww. I have sunburnt legs. . . Tis not fair. Had a nice day at beach so I suppose it's worth it.

smee glad you're doing ok - fingers crossed you can avoid another op. Any joy on the pimms?

The hair loss thing never bothered me that much, although I am possibly weird in that respect. I got lots of cool buffs and embraced my inner surfer dude. It got to a point where my scalp was so sore I just thought "just get on with it" so it was almost a relief when it did finally go. Mine has grown back much as it was before, just a bit darker.

Hope everyone had a nice weekend. My concert went pretty well last night - pulled off my solo, anyway.

Lots of love to everyone x x x

malteserzz · 30/06/2013 21:58

A day at the beach sounds lovely ned ow to sunburnt legs though. A solo wow !

Buble programme is v cheesy :)
Think I have the post alcohol blues today but was worth it Smile
Hope everyone's ok

smee · 30/06/2013 22:04

Ouch on legs, Ned but hooray on your solo. You are amazing, I would never do anything like that. Smile

DH failed on the Pimms, but has dug out a bottle of rosé. Seemed churlish to refuse. Grin

topsyturner · 30/06/2013 22:13

A friend of DHs is cycling in a civilian part of the Tour de France .
He's travelled over from Australia for it .
I have no interest in the race or DHs friend btw

I've gone to bed as there's bugger all to watch on tv tonight . And unlike some fellow tamoxigang members , who shall remain malt nameless , I refuse to debase myself by watching Buble !
It was bad enough DH made me watch Top Gear Grin

malteserzz · 30/06/2013 23:11

I won't tell you what I watched after buble then !
Night all sleep tight tomorrow is another day x x

flippyflippers · 01/07/2013 05:43

Tiptoes in..... Chemo is making me feel yucky and I can't sleep, mostly because my throat is burning, anyone any tips?

malteserzz · 01/07/2013 05:53

Hello ! Glad you came over now we just need someone who can help you to wake up !
How long since you were dx and how many chemo sessions are you having ?

kitkat1967 · 01/07/2013 07:29

Hi Flippy - no tips on the burning throat but I suspect that you will have been given steroids with your chemo and that is what is keeping you up. If that is the problem there is not much you can do other than try to be relaxed about it, knowing that the affects will wear off.

Hopefully someone here will have advice for your throat.

I had my chemo about 10 days ago, and yesterday - between breakfast and lunch - my taste buds just disappeared - very strange indeed!!

MaryAnnSingleton · 01/07/2013 08:01

welcome flippy -would jelly help ?
Hope everyone slept well. I did wake up thinking my breathing was going funny but was also in the midst of a dream about not having all my work done for my degree...
Meditation group yesterday- was quite relaxing but should be more so next week as we're going to use the Quaker Meeting House as our future venue- much nicer being a neutral place and it's a beautiful room.
Hoper to do some work today though might need to see if car can be looked at as it's very rattly when moving slowly- dh nagging me to not ignore it.
ned well done on solo - bet it was fab.
Hope hair cut is not too distressing malt - maybe a bob ?

trice · 01/07/2013 08:27

I am back on the pills tomorrow. Not looking forward to it, although it does seem to be working wonderfully. I have felt so much better in my week off.

Library again today. All three sisters and my mum visiting this morning. Meeting my good arty friend for coffee. And blood tests. Busy day.

I suck ice cubes for a sore mouth and throat Flippy. I tried the aspirin gargle but didn't like it much. Just hold on, it will pass.

Gigondas · 01/07/2013 08:51

Sore throat tips welcome here as radio effect kicking in. am going to ring unit so I can get some meds.

I love the Tdf so happily watching it here.

I'm yet to discover if honey works for a chemo sore throat (not that far yet) but it always works for me with a normal one. Just let a spoonful dissolve in your mouth slowly.

Gigondas · 01/07/2013 09:11

I am going to give that a go betsy- I took manuka honey thru chemo to help immune response.

OP posts:
malteserzz · 01/07/2013 09:35

Morning again !
Manukau honey sounds interesting I've vaguely heard of it just looked on amazon and it seems to vary in price wildly is there anything in particular to look out for ?

BetsyBoop · 01/07/2013 09:49

I've got some manuka honey on this week's online shopping order to help rev up my immune system :)

Malt - I think the higher the "number" (forgotten what it's called) then the more "powerful" the honey - I've gone for a 30 just to try it :) definitely no expert here

malteserzz · 01/07/2013 09:58

That does make sense Betsy
On amazon a 500g of 30 is £11 does that sound about right ? Anything to help !

topsyturner · 01/07/2013 10:06

Morning All

Welcome to Flippy
The awakeness is def steroid related
Have you got any sleeping tabs ? They can help you get through those first few days after chemo , when the roid rage has kicked in !

I never had a sore throat , but I had mouth ulcers . And difflam mouth wash was excellent for that .

It's Oh So Quiet in Topsys house this morning .
DH has fled to work .
DS and DD are still snoring in their pits (first Monday of the school hols)
Pig/dog is upside down in a sunny patch on the kitchen floor .
I've just got up , and for the first time since last weeks shameful drunkan debacle , I actually feel human !!!

Happy Monday Ladies .
Hope what ever you are doing , it's a good one .

Any apts this week ?
(Apart from Robo Gigs who is irradiating on a daily basis !)

Copthallresident · 01/07/2013 10:17

Topsy Grin at robo gigs I have an image of her emerging from this rebuilding programme and terminating all the crims in Twickers ( she can start with the Council, biggest crims around here, latest crime to move all the bus stops 200 metres away from the shops, great for the elderly and immobile, apparently the problem was too many people were waiting at them, it was getting in the way of all the cafes putting tables on the street.....Shock ) There you are gigs you may feel weak and sore , and hugs for that but we ain't seen nothing yet........

Not an expert on sore throats but like Trice did theicecube thing for ulcers.

Best go DH and DD land at midday and a certain slatternliness may have crept into the running of the household

HerNextDoorAt21 · 01/07/2013 10:30

Morning all,

HND reporting from work which is still feeling quite odd after having 6 months off ! topsy i can't believe she is actually up didn't really have a drunken debacle, she is just pining for me to join her for coffee every morning !

Jokes aside, I hope evryone is doing relatively well and apologies for not having kept up with all of your news. Welcome to the new members and I hope you find the tamoxigang as completely mad and funny supportive as I have .......

off to read all of your news

Gigondas · 01/07/2013 11:17

Robogigs is in the building phase at the moment-once I am nuked up I will be attacking the council, people who ride their bikes on pavement and other targets.

Hnd hi Grin- what was oil you said was good to cover pump smell (to add to its joys it's none to fragrant at times and I can't always blame mini gig).

OP posts:
HerNextDoorAt21 · 01/07/2013 12:07

Hi gigs it was lemon grass oil I used ..... I so do NOT miss Sydney the pump !
