Wine ???
Never , ever , again !

trice · 29/06/2013 22:32

I had a lovely day shopping with friends. We went for lunch at a Carluccio's. I had a gorgeous aperetivo thing made from aperol, prosecco and soda with a twist of orange. Very grown up and refreshing for a summers day. Not as bitter as campari and soda. I highly recommend it.

Then we went into Hollister and ran over teenagers feet in the dark with my wheelchair. Good times! Got some nice tshirts for ds in the sale.

I will try out your various mouth ulcer remedies, thanks.

Smee - haematoma sounds scary and painful. Glad it is over. Hope you feel better soon.

Copthallresident · 29/06/2013 22:46

Ha! Have settled on 50 shades of beige! 3 days in the city visiting famous artists houses and temples and 4 on the beach.

Since we like a good quiz, one of the artist's houses we will be visiting will be blue..... MAS will have an advantage on this I think...

Now I can get excited

Trice Ah the perils of shopping in dark smelly teen shops, a wheelchair a definite advantage! Luckily we have graduated from that stage but not from Carluccios Smile

topsyturner · 29/06/2013 23:07

Ooh ooh , me miss !
Is it Mexico ?
I always think Frida Kahlo when I hear blue house .

smee · 29/06/2013 23:22

Ooh yes - got to be Frieda Kahlo. Mexico?!. Envy How's the ribs Topsy?

Watching the Stones, wondering how many more layers Mick has left to take off.. Grin

Copthallresident · 30/06/2013 00:15

Well, that was too easy! Little Copt loves her paintings.

Weren't they amazing? I thought they couldn't go another ten years ten years ago and then they do. Mick is 3 weeks off his 70th. I have this probably silly conviction that what with Cancer and being treated with some of the most carcinogenic chemicals on earth that it will be an achievement to make it to mid 60s (seemed like an attractive prospect at the time, less so now) , but faced with the results of such obvious abuse.... Nothing is fair of course but it's a possibility Smile I did see Mick in Richmond once, he actually looks like a caricature, he has a very big head on a little body.

Elibean · 30/06/2013 00:43

I had similar thoughts (having ingested far too many chemicals, medical and not, in my dim and distant past Blush). If Mick can leap around like that at 69, why not me?

But I may have to eat less chocolate...

malteserzz · 30/06/2013 07:38

Morning all
Robbie and olly were both amazing especially the whole of wembley stadium singing angels, very emotional
May have had a bit too much wine !
Now awake in hotel room with a raging thirst trying not to wake my friend
Looking forward to a big fat hotel breakfast later

amberlight · 30/06/2013 08:57

Morning all. Feeling rather dozy today - but presumably to be expected after 1st chemo on Wednesday? Fell asleep during the Stones last night so can't add much to that discussion, Managed to collect my shiny new car yesterday, though DH did the driving and also did the supermarket shop with DH so probably enough excitement for one weekend? May be a spot of very light ironing today before I run out of clothes to wear.
Hope the sun is shining where you are!

Gigondas · 30/06/2013 09:33

Yes very normal lily- so just rest as you need. You on a 3 week cycle? If so this may be your tired week but should feel more normal next week.

New car sounds Smile.

OP posts:
Lilymaid · 30/06/2013 09:43

Yes 3 week cycle and a brand new shiny car! Looking forward to driving it when I'm a bit less dozy.

jchocchip · 30/06/2013 10:09

gig you are bound to be knackered having a teething toddler terrorising you at two am, let alone everything else going on. Take it easy and eat nice things.
Topsy you asked yesterday how my head was. No problem! I only spent 4 hours drinking in a brewery, we then went for a curry and got home about 11. (and I was drinking halfs and one may have been coke...) I do like their beer so I will have to go again and try some different ones in the interests of science, you understand... Wink
Best value of the night out is that I can now tell everyone that I can organise a pissup in a brewery... Grin
Have a lovely Sunday everyone.

Copthallresident · 30/06/2013 10:54

malt glad you enjoyed concert, I've got Robbie and Ollie on Friday and the Stones on Saturday, the excitement may be too much. Grin

gigs you don't want to send little gigs around to goondog as he has a suppurating postules on his bum, it is very unpleasant, he has had his bum shaved and he is refusing to go out in public (actually Iam refusing to take him out in public) he is also supposed to wear a big cone on his head but it is no match for a border collie and he has yet to keep it on for more than five mins. I have to scrub it twice a day, he gets something that looks suspiciously like an orgasm when I do, it is all very trying.........

I did like Alex Turner though, although felt Mick strutted him off the stage, but he is rather cool.... I like Example as well, girls say he is always one of the best acts at festivals. Half the acts seemed to be from the 80s though, switched on the TV yesterday and thought I was in a time warp, sister sledge ( actually that is 70s) and chic Confused

Plan that holiday trip to Tesco, it will take your mind off being so knackerred. When do the rads finish, then you can get on with recovering.

lily yes you definitely need to rest to let your body recover, by last treatment I was sleeping just about 20 hours out of 24, just do what your body seems to need to do. And go driving in your shiny new car the rest of he time

Bloody Barclaycard are having a nervous breakdown over holiday booking..they clearly think I am incapable of such excitement, like the time they thought that unusual transaction were result of having my phone nicked whilst out clubbing, "club " was a Chinese journalist thing i go to, a talk on the latest waxworks to come to power, and I had topped up my pay as you go phone......rock n roll!

Copthallresident · 30/06/2013 10:57

jchoc well done on organising piss up in brewery, yer hired

MaryAnnSingleton · 30/06/2013 11:07

I too fell asleep during the Stones...
Not sure if I'd like my Pimm's with elderflower as am a traditional girl Grin
I love the look of mini and Big's water feature in the garden - loads of soggy fun there Grin

BetsyBoop · 30/06/2013 11:24

Smee glad to hear you are home, hope you can avoid another op.

Malt glad you enjoyed Robbie, me jealous? Envy Grin

I managed to see Robson win at tennis but that was about it yesterday, too sleepy/spacy

Failing miserably to keep up with the thread, doing loads of sleeping, but glad to hear that's normal... Other than eight hours of non-stop pucking on day of chemo I've not been too bad really, just spaced out, tired and a bit nauseous. So if they can sort out the pucking bit next time it will be much better. I had anti emetic in cannula before they started and Emend (but chemo nurse only checked take home drugs half way through treatment, so I hadn't taken an hour before as you are supposed to Hmm she said you don't normally get it on the first cycle, so I must have done a good job convincing them I was likely to be sick, which turned out to be very true!) I've also had metadopomide and ondanestron (sp?) + Emend to take at home. What else should/could they give me next time, or will taking Emend on time help, don't really want to be calling out OOH GP next time and scaring DH half to death in the process!

DH has taken DC out shopping so I'm enjoying an hour of peace just now!

BetsyBoop · 30/06/2013 15:55

well killing the thread is one way of keeping up with it Grin

I hope this means everyone is having a fun Sunday :)

malteserzz · 30/06/2013 16:13

Betsy it's usually me that kills the thread Smilelike you say hope that means everyone is ok and having a good day
Good to know you're not doing too badly apart from the sickness on the first day
Lily glad you're doing ok too and yay for the new car !
Gigs hope you get a holiday sorted, any thoughts where youd like to go? Change of scenery might give you a bit of a lift
Copt good news about your holiday I always think planning it is nearly as good as being there
Smee glad you're ok now :)

Waving at everyone else too many to mention in case I forget 1Grin

I'm back from a lovely weekend, was a nice break now back to reality again
Having my hair chopped tomorrow. How short do I need to go ?

BasketzatDawn · 30/06/2013 16:49

I was reading about combining antiemetics a few days ago, but have forgotten details already. Betsy, make sure your team knows you were very sick BEFORE next cycle. 8 hrs of puking is excessive. A syringe driver with a small but regular 'drip' of something may work wonders. Speak to your nurse specialist. Hope you feel better today.

Waves to all, and sends best wishes - I can't comment on everything. But, envious of Copt going to Frida Kahlo country (have you heard the Michael Marra song? I love it, and him - really sad I never saw him perform live. One regret I will always harbour. He was an acquired taste, very Scottish, absolutely brill IMO).

I'm thinking of Oban next weekend to see Wimbledon on a decent TV and escape this madhouse. Not a patch on Mexico, but several shades of beige in booking there too. Gah!

BetsyBoop · 30/06/2013 17:09

thanks Basket - I have a review appointment with my onc the week before my next cycle so I can discuss it them. He seems to be pretty good at listening (hence the Emend for a first cycle, but perhaps I need a little more help. I've alway been the same though, once I start puking my stomach shuts off and nothing taken orally is absorbed - when I had a spell of bad migraines I had to have squirt up the nose stuff!) so hopefully it will get sorted.

Malt are you cold-capping - is so perhaps not so short, I went quite short in anticipation of mine falling out. If you have a hairdresser you trust I'd let her help you decide. It's not something you think about but mine said she deals with htis sort of situation about once a year, she was fabulous. :)

malteserzz · 30/06/2013 18:41

Betsy I hope to cold cap but don't know if I can yet
Maybe I should have waited to find out before I made an appointment But I think there's too much of it for a cold cap at the moment
Hairdresser is lovely and has come to my house for years so I can ask her
Why am I stressing about hair anyway it's not really important is it Hmm

smee · 30/06/2013 18:44

I'd say it's the girls exhausting you too, Gig. I have a couple of friends with small-ish night-time wakers and they're wiped out and aren't having any form of treatment. Hope you got a dose in the sun. Smile

Betsy, if you take Emend an hour before, I'd say that'll sort it. The trick seems to be to stop it starting, so taking whatever works for you way in advance.

Go for whatever you feel good about with your hair, Malt. I'd bet it will feel good to take control, but you take care too. xx

Waving to Baskets and all others. Sorry not to post more, but hope we're all okay today. I want Pimms.. Might have to send DH out on a hunt.. Smile

BetsyBoop · 30/06/2013 19:12

smee - hope you get your pimms - how's the haematoma doing?

Gigs - absolutely what smee said, when my two were that age (I had a 22 month gap) I was positively knackered all the time, with what you are dealing with on top of that, you would be superwoman times a million not to be tired!

Malt - yes it's only hair, but it's yet another layer of "you" that this awful disease strips away :( I just keep holding on to the fact that it won't change "me" and (hopefully!) my hair will grow back. In fact I actually really like my new style, so I'm planning on having this style when it grows again! Just go with whatever seems right for you :)
