MAS Welcome to my life. It is actually one good thing, the only good thing, about her going away, I know she is probably out just as late but out of sight, out of mind. Once they hit 18 most of their nightlife doesn't even start until midnight and even if I have managed to get to sleep there is the smell of dumplings being burnt cooked at 5am because they have to satisfy the attack of the munchies...... or worse still they have hit the kebab shop.

GoodbyeRubyTuesday · 25/06/2013 14:02

smee well done to DS! :)

MaryAnnSingleton · 25/06/2013 14:04

knitting on swing bench sounds lovely

Copthallresident · 25/06/2013 14:06

smee xposted. Yeah for DS. Big Copt did exactly the same in running race in Year 6. She and her friend skipped to the line hand in hand together. Unfortunately only a smattering of applause as alpha mums really didn't get it, and they were busy anyway warming up and stretching for the mothers egg and spoon race, for which they had been training for months Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 25/06/2013 14:07

well done too to junior smee Smile

Will warn T about stuff in bottles Grin He is used to beer - he usually drinks some beer when dh has it at supper and he likes prosecco and champagne- not sure if he's ever tried spirits (don't know whether kahlua or Cointreau count because I know he's tried those !)

smee · 25/06/2013 14:10

Managed to duck out before the parents' race. Went in flip flops though just in case they did it early. Grin

malteserzz · 25/06/2013 14:17

Well done to smees ds!
Ruby fingers crossed for your temp
Must be a worry as kids get older. Dd is 14 and a good girl but the last few weeks has been going out a lot with friends and pushing the boundaries on times to come in
I've done nothing today what a waste of a day I should be enjoying myself while I still feel well but just can't be bothered today. I have sorted out my hair appointment going for the chop on Monday

Copthallresident · 25/06/2013 14:20

Ruby I have seen the pictures of the CEO, a certain dissonance with his attitudes Grin

EarthMotherImNot · 25/06/2013 15:22

Hi all, just back from 2nd chemo. It was a carbon copy of the first one really except the wig lady was in and she fitted me for a wig. Its a lot like my natural hair, ie, streaky highlights and a bit longer than it should be. The fitter told me she would cut my hair for me when it starts falling out.
Hope everyone has had an ok daySmile

malteserzz · 25/06/2013 17:44

Glad it went ok earth hope you can relax and get some sleep tonight, fingers crossed for few side effects

Hope the wig looks ok Smile

BetsyBoop · 25/06/2013 19:41

Another one done EMIN :) Hope you don't get too many SEs

Ruby - hope your temp has stayed down, knitting in the garden sounds lovely :)

gigs - hope you get some relief from your pain soon

Malt - sending you sleep vibes for tonight - I've always found the consultants (both for this and my eye problems before) pretty straight talking - they certainly won't be hiding anything from you.

MAS - glad you got your illustration finished - saw the latest ones on FB - fabulous :)

well done mini-smee :)

Have any of you been tested for the BRAC genes? Zero family history (before me) here so not sure if it's worth it. Worrying about DD though :(

Well mad day today, the hospital were running late for my heart scan (no results yet, but not expecting any problems) so I ended up going straight from there to work. Arrived at work to find that my 1-2-1s mum had delivered a huge bunch of flowers to school - cue much blubbing Blush

I know you ladies understand, but it is such a relief for all the scans to come back clear (was especially dreading the liver one as DB had liver mets when they diagnosed his bowel cancer and it was those that were the main problem) . Right chemo, op and rads here I come. You were all soooo right that the waiting is the worst bit, at least I will get a few weeks respite from waiting now, until they decide that they want to look at how effective the chemo is....

smee · 25/06/2013 21:20

Well done on another Earth. Glad wig woman was there. She sounds good. Smile

I've done the genetic testing, Betsy. With zero family history before you, you won't get it on NHS. Even though my mother's had BC treatment, I had to 'remember' a Great Aunt who had it. They work it out on a point scale, so you only get the test if you score high enough. I was negative - thought I would be, but wanted to know for my niece, and for DS in the future if he had girls.

Mores to the point. YAY and YAY again for you. You can do it now you know scans are clear. Slog through the treatment and life's ahead. Smile

Hope you sleep, Malt and Ruby you too. We don't want to have to dig you out of the cupboard again. Sending you no temp vibes. x

Off to find something to eat. DH away and DS snoring. Must try and avoid the crisps and eat something sensible..

jchocchip · 25/06/2013 22:23

It is age dependent to so although have loads of cancer on my Dads side, if it wasn't early onset it didn't score high enough for tests. And of course ddad was a boy and his cancer wasn't bc and there are no females in his generation. Great Aunt had double mastectomy and lived for years after. With massive prostate history on dhs side too, wonder how the genes mix in my dcs!

Hugs to gigs trice earth and anyone else who wants one. group hug
Sleepy vibes, [horlicks] etc and leave off the electronic gadgets in the bedroom (that sounds ruder than I intended, I mean switch the tablets off and read a boring book instead...)
Nighty night lovelies

trice · 25/06/2013 22:51

Sweet dreams all. Don't let the bed bugs bite.

malteserzz · 25/06/2013 22:54

I have a wave app probably dream we're on a cruise we love our cruises lets hope so
Night x

smee · 25/06/2013 22:54

Just realised I didn't put 'Betsy' in my post above. Though obviously it was to you about your clear scans. Smile

Off to bed here too. Night all. Wishing you lots of zzzz xx

BetsyBoop · 26/06/2013 06:21

No early hours postings, so I hope that means everyone has had a good sleep?

Hope kitkat and lilymaid are okay, not heard from them for a while.

Last day at work for 2013 (probably) today...

swallowedAfly · 26/06/2013 06:43

hi - someone recommended i come over and post on here.

i had a breast reduction op done privately a couple of weeks ago and had an appointment with my surgeon yesterday that i thought was just a routine check up. i hadn't realised that they send any removed tissue to the lab.

they found bad stuff in the lab, definitely in the ducts, unclear if that will be the extent of it or not and presumably i need more tests now. piecing together what he was saying i think that basically the hope is it's 'just' dcis as the bit they saw hadn't penetrated through into the lobes but he was pretty cagey about saying stuff and warning me he hadn't treated breast cancer for 25years so didn't feel up to date and the most important thing was to get me to see the right person.

he'd been trying to get hold of the surgeon he wanted me to see but couldn't so was going to continue trying and get back to me today i think he said.

so unexpected news and i was a bit freaked out yesterday.

hope it's ok to have posted about it here.

jchocchip · 26/06/2013 06:54

Hi swallowed you are in the right place. What a shock. Brew chocolate and handholding coming up. What a bugger to find out there is a problem this way.But good that it has been found so you can start treatment. Ask any questions here. Nothing is off limits. Hugs.

swallowedAfly · 26/06/2013 07:02

thank you. yes, big shock. i'm not even sure if i've understood him right.

trying to think that on the positive side if it really is cancer they know really early plus i've skipped all sorts of stages by getting straight to the cells seen under a microscope stage itms? will presumably have to go back to the other stages like mammograms and things now but hopefully with a sense of them taking it seriously and not messing about time wise?

i had leapt straight from him telling me this to wanting full mastectomies and panicking the nhs wouldn't let me because they're cheapskates in a heartbeat yesterday. today i think i'm a bit calmer and ready to slow down.

swallowedAfly · 26/06/2013 07:07

it would help to know what other people have experienced and are being treated for and how and stuff. not got very specific q's. don't know what ot think at the minute.

notJenkins · 26/06/2013 07:10

Welcome swallowed and sorry you are here on the thread no one wants to join. What a shock for you but as you say you have skipped a few stages so hope you get some answers soon.

I have been rattled at work by my boss asking me when I am going to be back to normal. Don't want to go into details here but I am not happy and not sure what to do really.

jchocchip · 26/06/2013 07:15

Swallowed I had a small lump which was removed then radiotheraphy and I'm taking tamoxifen for 5 years. Back at work in under 5 months and all well now nearly 2 years later.

Notj that isnt good. :( you need to take your time. Do you want the girls to go round and see to your boss?

kitkat1967 · 26/06/2013 07:37

good morning everyone. For the first night since chemo I slept through (is it the steroids that are waking me in the early hours?) and feel so much better for it.
I got my wig yesterday and have to say i love it - i went for a hair do that i wanted rather than something like my own Blush - no reason to wear it yet though.
Well done Betsy - great news for you - we are def on the same page with treatment and results now.
Hope everyone else is OK - I have been reading posts but been so tired i have not been posting much - back with you all now though Grin

jchocchip · 26/06/2013 07:49

Hurray for sleep kitkat :)
