Link didn't work, but I'm sure you get the idea, will look very fetching in northern pub for Sunday lunch ... Actually from look of gangs of women getting off trains for night out in Leeds it would be entirely appropriate Shock DD commented as gang in denim shorts went past, they are not shorts, they are denim diapers.....

Just waiting for DB to arrive with new puppy, awwwwwwwwwwwwwww

BetsyBoop · 23/06/2013 09:58

sounds like you had an enjoyable night malt not

gigs - hope you are doing better and pain is under control

kitkat - how are you feeling this morning? Hopefully a bit better?

I'm starting to feel quite anxious about starting chemo (still haven't got a confirmed start date grrh) I know IT. JUST. HAS. TO. BE. DONE. so I'm sure I'll just get on with it when the time comes, the anticipation is usually worse than the reality . DD said to me this morning "I'm a bit nervous about this strong medicine you are going to have Mummy" - you and me both kidda Grin

It's great to link up with many of you on FB - I'm still working out who everyone is (I feel a list coming on Grin) - so if I've not linked up with you yet and you want to link with me, feel free to send a friend request or a PM. :)

kitkat1967 · 23/06/2013 10:12

morning all - I'm feeling much better now - in fact about 8pm last night I ate a full dinner and some fruit as everything had suddenly lifted. Feel absolutley wiped out but don't feel sick anymore Shock.

Betsy - my DS (9) said to me on Friday (chemo was Thursday) 'is you cancer gone now Mum' Sad - very sweet - I only wish it was that easy!!

Malt - what a night - you did well to get up at all - it's always my worst nightmare to get a sick child on a sleepover - last time we had a (small) asthma attack to deal with.

My DH has had to take both kids to various clubs and camps on his own this weekend - apparently he is exhausted now!!

Copthallresident · 23/06/2013 10:14

betsy the anticipation is worse than the reality. You do just get through it, a bit like pregnancy.

malteserzz · 23/06/2013 11:29

Peaceful house again here all the boys have gone home phew !
Kitkat glad you don't feel sick anymore :)
Betsy I'm with you on the waiting being awful think your mind builds it up and up the longer you have to wait, hope you get some news soon
Mas fingers crossed for the weather, keeps raining on and off here
Copt thank you for your wise words. You're going to uni?brilliant ! I'm laughing at the family and the grandad !
Love to everyone else hope you're all doing ok

EarthMotherImNot · 23/06/2013 14:08

One chemo session done, 15 more to go.

I agree the anticipation is so much harder than the actual deed and thats scary enough, thank you very much.
They put a canula in the back of my hand, into this goes a flush out stuff followed by an anti sickness stuff then the chemo and finally a last flush of my system.

At first, other than the sting of needles, I didn't really feel anything. By the time I got home I felt quite sickly but I'm more sure its all in my mind so I'm keeping my eye on my temperature. They gave me a booklet with all the side effects written down as well as all the precautions written in a traffic lights configuration. Amber :on the alert B:ring chemo unit, be ready to come in. C: get to A & E fast.

Other than feeling a tiny bit sickly I don't feel and differentSad

topsyturner · 23/06/2013 14:18

emin just make sure you take your oral anti sickness meds , whether you feel you need them or not .
But well done on getting through number 1 !

BetsyBoop · 23/06/2013 14:19

good to hear from you earth :)

MAS - just been looking at your FB page and website, you are very talented :)

malteserzz · 23/06/2013 14:35

Emin well done !
What are the rush to a and e symptoms out of interest ?

GoodbyeRubyTuesday · 23/06/2013 16:20

Hello all,

Had lots of family over the weekend so quite busy but they've all gone home now. It was lovely to see them :) I hope you've all had a good weekend!

malt A&E symptoms are chest pain in first cycle as might be allergic reaction, that might just be my chemo though I'm not sure, or temperature above 38°C (get a decent thermometer if you don't have one, I have a Braun ear one which is quite good) or other symptoms of a serious infection (shivering uncontrollably, that kinda thing)

kitkat1967 · 23/06/2013 17:56

well done EMIN - glad it went OK for you - especially as I see you have to have 16 sessions altogether. Are you having them weekly?

MaryAnnSingleton · 23/06/2013 18:03

well done emin
thank you betsy Smile

malteserzz · 23/06/2013 19:15

Ruby glad you've had a good family weekend and thanks for the info Smile
Kitkat how have you been feeling today ?
Hope everyone's having a good evening mine is a bit more relaxed than last night
Looking forward to a nice m and s chocolate and pecan dessert with cream later Grin

EarthMotherImNot · 23/06/2013 19:23

Sorry guys, had family call in for 20 minutesShockdoesn't time flySmile
As Ruby says chest pain, high or low temperature, generally unwell. There are more but, as I understand it you have lesser symptoms first.

My sessions are once a week kit-kat. Tomorrow I see the oncologist and then Tuesday will be my second session. I'm struggling a bit because I'd felt a bit off in the days before my first session and didn't get any better or worse this past week, I just stayed around the sameHmm

smee · 23/06/2013 21:26

Hi Earth, glad you don't feel too icky.

Kitkat, how are you today?? Hope climbing out of the nausea.

Malt and Betsy, I was really scared of starting chemo. Just wanted to say that, as I'd bet sometimes we all sound quite gung-ho about it all. Does get less scary after the first one. Don't feel you have to be stoic on here though. If anyone gets it, it's us.

MAS, how's it going with you? Hope no side effects. x

No time to post to all, but hope you all had a lovely Sunday. We've been to Greenwich. Saw a lovely performance piece which my friend directed, lots of busking, then a show about the cosmos at the Maritime Museum. Amazing photos of space. DS pointed out in a v.loud voice that I'm too old to become an astronaut. Grin

malteserzz · 23/06/2013 21:50

Emin hope you can talk about your worries with your onc, good that you've not felt too bad though
Smee glad you've had a good daySmile I'm bloody terrified of chemo I will admit! I'm imagining it being like the worst hangover ever times 100

MaryAnnSingleton · 23/06/2013 21:52

did you want to be an astronaut smee ?
No real SEs,apart from tingly hands and slight nausea..we went to freeze in the public gardens watching my dad play his oboe with the band- it was bitterly cold - I wished I'd thought to buy my dad some coffee from the Nero at the interval, poor thing. On the way home I made dh and T stop so I could get some coffee at the Costa as my fingers had gone white with cold. Anyway,it was a v nice concert. Did a bit of drawing and have eaten lots of wotsits.

smee · 24/06/2013 00:07

Even slight SE's not good, MAS. Was too far for the bandstand am sure, though glad concert went well. Yes, I am quite into the idea of being an astronaut, as quite like the idea of floating around in a puffy white suit, MAS. Though am reliably informed by DS, that there's more to it than that. Grin

Malt, of course you're terrified. I most definitely was. It's not as bad as 100 hangovers, I promise. xx

Night all. Hope everyone sleeps.

smee · 24/06/2013 00:09

MAS, meant to say 'far too cold' and not repeat your name. I blame the cat as got interrupted by him taking on a fox in the garden. Shock

I wish you hadn't said 'wotsits'. Past midnight and I need some. Grin

EarthMotherImNot · 24/06/2013 00:21

I have to say the actual procedure wasn't the awful thing I'd geared myself up to think it would be. I didn't actually feel anything!

The next couple of days however weren't good. I felt a bit out of it, I felt sickly but never was actually sick.

I don't know if I'm imagining this but I felt DH and the girls losing patience and being a tad snappy with me. I struggled to fall asleep and this meant I kept falling asleep during the day to try and catch up.

I will find it difficult to speak to the Onc about this as Dh will be with me.

What happens when I've completed the course, will I feel better or worse.

Those are things I can ask I guess so fingers crossed. Night night all x

malteserzz · 24/06/2013 00:32

I'm putting wotsits on my shopping list for tomorrow Smile
Been looking for the moon it's meant to be stunning tonight but it's too cloudy
Then looking at teasmades on amazon, good idea for bad nights ?in a retro way
Can't sleep !
Hope everyone else does x
Emin your family are probably tired and worried too so that might be why they're a bit snappy ?
Mas your poor fingers
Smee thank you x

Should try and sleep I suppose

jchocchip · 24/06/2013 00:33

did someone say 'wotsits'?

jchocchip · 24/06/2013 00:41

You know when you have had a manic day and its half past midnight and you haven't done everything you should have done? That was my day but I'm too tired now so off to bed... Mum's social worker at 11am for annual review so will do a bit more before she comes.

jchocchip · 24/06/2013 06:00

Porridge time! I am so going to have an after lunch nap today, have a 3 hour drive home later. Hope you all slept better than I didn't! :(

MaryAnnSingleton · 24/06/2013 07:54

poor jchoc - hope all goes well with your mum and that you get a nap.
Am now a bit addicted to wotsits and may need to buy more today...
T has to pick up his prom ticket (very complicated task involving having to return all textbooks and have a sheet signed by teachers for each one, then signed by me and then returned to tutor- we are on the last bit of this now) and has a singing lesson, but apart from that he's as free as a bird (so will probably sleep,be on the internet and draw all day)
