Just for Ash Grin
malteserzz · 09/05/2013 19:51

You all give me hope SmileThanks for sharing

I'm worse in the evenings and by bedtime I'm usually distraught. I think in the day I hold it in so today I've had a friend round and was ok, then went to work and was discussing how long I'd need to have off etc and it was ok but now it all feels too much again

Spero · 09/05/2013 19:51

I haven't been gene tested, i was reading about it and it appears very common in America but I guess the expense makes it difficult on the NHS.

topsyturner · 09/05/2013 19:57

Grade 4 , stage 3 , Her+ , think my tumour was about 5+ cms (but never really asked)
12 out of 19 nodes involved .
Lung secondaries .
Mx , node clearance , chemo , rads .
Had one round of Herceptin and chemo , then was found to be in remission due to a massive post op infection after breast reduction op .

I was diagnosed in May 2011 , I'm 43 , and I'm a Libran Grin

NedSchneebly · 09/05/2013 20:00

I was diagnosed in January 2012 with 2.4cm grade 3 invasive ducal tumour. I had 6 cycles of chemo - 3 FEC and 3 Docetaxol - then 4 weeks of rads. I am on Tamoxifen. I am frequently not calm - I am currently receiving counselling for PTSD. We have all had our dark moments, and frequently share them on here, so you shouldn't worry about being honest about how you feel. I think sometimes it goes in cycles, well it does for me. I feel fine for a while and then I have a scary, dark time for a while. Its all completely normal, however you react to this shittyness. Don't let anyone tell you any different Smile

NedSchneebly · 09/05/2013 20:03

Oh,I had lumpectomy first. . .forgot that bit! 3 nodes removed, all 3 clear.

Gigondas · 09/05/2013 20:03

Think you have to have family history before testing. I got referred as pointed out cancer is a family hobby unfortunately.

This is a big fave of mini gigmonkey

Hope you are sprung tomorrow ash. I will try and film mini gig doing monkey man for you. I completely get the thing about being ash not a patient-being in hospital really is tough as they focus on illness (rightly) but it dehumanise you and no escape from sodding cancer.

Malt-I was dx with soft tissue sarcoma in feb 2012 and mets in April. Had ops, radio and chemo . I think the more tired you are the worse you feel-between about 8-4 are my grimmest times when I feel worst.

We all have moments (ESP as amber says near scans) but you do find a way out. It doesn't feel like it at the time tho as you have to deal with shock and grief.

Gigondas · 09/05/2013 20:04

Oh I am 40 and libran in fact think share a birthday with tipsy.

topsyturner · 09/05/2013 20:06

amberlight · 09/05/2013 20:10

Ooo I had radiotherapy. I had blanked that out. Totally. Silly Amber. And I'm a Leo with quite a lot of Libra in my chart. Not that I do astrology. Oh no, definitely not.

Gigondas · 09/05/2013 20:19

And thanks to my sis -we now know am I meatloaf or is it the 90s best flowcharts

KurriKurri · 09/05/2013 20:30

for Malt I was Dx in 2008, had mastectomy then lymph node clearance, chemo, radiotherapy, herceptin and still on tamoxifen - lump was grade 3, HER2+ and right inside the boob - hence the mastectomy, - but now I have a prosthesis affectionately known as the boobatron. I am hoping to have a reconstruction later this year.

I am well into my nineties and am a Succubus with Uranus rising (on the cusp natch).

Have just been to Sainsbo's and bought bakewell slices (on offer) which I will cast onto the trolley.
While I was out old lady dog made a disgusting little stink nest in my cardigan which she stole out of the ironing basket Hmm

Gigondas · 09/05/2013 20:35

Has she chewed cheese crumbs into the cardigan (fond memories of my dog doing this ).

The fishing programme is still on (but mas -dh has managed to send photos to you for when you get around to new work , but know that you have ton of other stuff on ).

KurriKurri · 09/05/2013 20:36
is my favourite Tom Jones clip ever - it's worth sitting through the start (where he snogs nineteen sixties laydees, wipes his sweat with some pants, and does a few sexy thrusts) until about 1.15 where he suddenly starts dancing as if he has a snake up his bum. It is insane. Grin
Gigondas · 09/05/2013 20:41

That is brilliant Grin

AshokanFarewell · 09/05/2013 20:50

Loving the monkey videos thank you gigs and topsy for putting a smile on my face.

I'm now planning my escape to make chollah bread Grin

malt I was diagnosed in October 2012 with stage 3 colon cancer. I had surgery a week later so barely had time to process it all before I was focused on the horror of having a temporary ileostomy and recovering from the surgery! I am gradually processing things at my own rate and I do have days of panic but I personally have a probably unhealthy approach of refusing to voice my fears because then they feel real. Most days I don't even remember I have cancer and in between bad days I do even forget I have a different digestive system to everyone else :) when I was in hospital after the surgery I believed I would never feel okay again but it has crept up on me and I have lots of good days now, so I'm sure it'll be the same for you.

AshokanFarewell · 09/05/2013 20:55

Oops I'm 22 and Aquarius :)

notJenkins · 09/05/2013 21:03

Diagnosed December 2012 with papillary thyroid cancer, lovely Xmas present.

Total thyroidectomy January and radioactive iodine treatment in march.

Still feel like it happened to someone else. I won't know until October if the treatment was successful. Trying not to think about it.

KurriKurri · 09/05/2013 21:08

No - no crumbs in the cardi Gigs - but a definite doggy smell -it will have to be washed again Hmm She does sometimes hide foodstuffs in the ironing - usually if it's something she considers a real prize - so I have in the past been surprised by a sausage (ooh er missus) or a Yorkshire pudding when doing the ironing Grin

smee · 09/05/2013 21:11

2010, when I was 44, 1.7cm, grade 3 and it had slipped into 4 out of 22 nodes. Had mastectomy, then chemo, rads and tamoxifen. Also elective mastectomy of other breast a year or so ago, though I had to talk them into it as they said not necessary. I know we sound sorted, but we're just further on. It will honestly take you an age to feel like it might all be okay and even then you'll be paranoid about even the tiniest ache. I had an pain in my arm at the start of the week and started anxting, then realised it was from hurling a frisbee around at the weekend. Hmm

Coorong, I had genetic testing. Had to push for it even though my mother's had BC too. Can fill you in on how it works if you like. I don't have the recognised genes, though do have some other weird one which apparently might be a marker for higher risk.

AshokanFarewell · 09/05/2013 21:21

Another one for list of people who have had breast cancer: Cath Kidston in 1995, aged 37. Just reading an interview with her and she mentions it :)

AshokanFarewell · 09/05/2013 21:21

Grin at sausage in your ironing pile. Definitely sounds like a euphemism!
