Oh no I have gone into aibu... I could be in bed all morning (seriously a post about getting a chocolate advent calendar from your mil- does the op not have the wit to eat all the chocolate herself if she doesn't want kids to have it? What do they teach in mum school these days?).

FrankWippery · 14/11/2012 07:53

That's shocking. Surely all mums know that eating the chocolate is the only way to handle this situation. The youth of today and all that...

Gigondas · 14/11/2012 07:59

I know- its a disgrace. Talking of which, can you get white chocolate advent calendars as big gig wants one and I haven't seen any in the shops.

FrankWippery · 14/11/2012 08:07

I'm pretty sure you can - Milky Bar/buttons and Lindor iirc. I'm going into the giant Asda for my sins later, I'll have a look and let you know.

topsyturner · 14/11/2012 08:10

Sigh
Another parent who thinks their child will spontaneously combust if they catch sight of a piece of choklit ...

Gigondas · 14/11/2012 08:13

Thanks frank

I know topsy not to mention the ones who think you might fall through the floor if you catch sight of a tv, eat processed baby food Etc

topsyturner · 14/11/2012 08:16

Children watching tv ???

Copthallresident · 14/11/2012 08:23

I am suitably ashamed of my chocolate gluttony, in my defence since I did my stint at the Cancer Spa (lose weight! get clear skin! get rid of that disfiguring hair! and grow back beautiful full and curly hair in a surprise colour! breast reduction! eliminate pesky hormones! clear your mind of boring detail! you won't know yourself .........) I can't really go near a box of chocolates or cake because of the spare tyre around my waist, so I get easily carried away when they do get into the house.

Glad to say No1 daughter has issued strict instructions that an advent calendar is to be bought for her this year even though she won't be here most of December (She's gone again Sad) as she felt upset and left out not to get one last year. Of course it would be bad luck, or something, for those choccies not to get eaten on the right date....

Anyway I am back on target with my writing so time to spare. Clearly I have to make one of my amazing truffle cakes to make up ? Mine for a Brew and cake everyone?

Copthallresident · 14/11/2012 08:28

topsy Worry not, DD2, who should have her mind on History, English, Philosophy and Psychology was watching Thomas the Tank Engine this morning. She and her friends have decided that since they don't take drugs and sleep around it is much more a reflection of their lives than the stuff made for their age group, they have each christened themselves as an engine. I try to reassure myself they are being ironic, like me watching X Factor, ICGMOH, The Apprentice..........

Harry Potter is high culture

Copthallresident · 14/11/2012 08:41

Frank The day after surgery you are not just sharing your chocolate, Why? but going to Asda??????? Clearly superhuman Grin

topsyturner · 14/11/2012 08:50

Truffle cake ????

topsyturner · 14/11/2012 08:52

And Frank I went to tesco the day after surgery and had to be escorted out by DH after coming over all unnecessary .
Be warned !

FrankWippery · 14/11/2012 09:48

Seriously, I have more chocolate than Charlie Bucket. More than even I can eat! Asda is a must as I ordered some of their champagne that's down to a tenner, so need to get them to put it in the car to take to my Mum's at the weekend.

I avoid it normally as I also come over all unnecessary in that one!

Gigondas · 14/11/2012 09:49

You will know if feel up to it- and cheap champagne is definitely a reason to get out the house.

FrankWippery · 14/11/2012 10:01

That's my thinking exactly. Grin

topsyturner · 14/11/2012 10:11

I'm off to Asda to get me some cheap champagne !

Get the feeling I am all billed out this morning ??? Grin

Copthallresident · 14/11/2012 10:13

Champagne? all explained

Plus there is the feeling that you want everything to carry on as normal, but do take care.

MaryAnnSingleton · 14/11/2012 10:25

be careful frank - I went to Sainsb.2 days after surgery and was completely wiped out afterwards.
I was looking at the nice unchocolate advent calendars as I get a bit huffy about choc ones ('tis the Catholic in me rather than not holding with choc,as you know I love the stuff) Ds still seems to like these trad. things though we do forget to open the windows....
I think this day of the capecitabine cycle is the day for terrible hands- day 12 -feeling very burned and am going to try working- if I can't then on the phone to chemo nurse Grin Oddly feet less painful.

OP posts:
topsyturner · 14/11/2012 10:52

Be good to yourself Mas , and do phone your BCN if it gets worse .

Just been watching YouTube tutorials on how to do a fishtail plait for DD .
And also how to do a basic crochet stitch .
Now need to get some more wool and a crochet hook . Off to eBay I pop !

KurriKurri · 14/11/2012 11:21

Morning all,

Welcome home from surgery Frank, and well done - it will be a relief that you have got that bit out of the way - hope you are not too sore. Take it easy, eat plenty of chocolate, watch DVD's, invest in a small bell you can ring when you want to be waited on Grin

Copthall - where is this truffle cake then?
My (22 yr old) DD also has an Advent calendar - she'd be most put out if she didn't. She's getting a home made one this year though Grin

MAS - grr about hands, - def. ring chemo nurse if it is too painful to work. Hope you don't feel too grotty otherwise.

I managed to sort out my Amazon cock up thank goodness.

Am feeling a bit rough this morning - didn't go to yoga - I'm having eye problems atm (thyroid related) - they are sore all the time and swollen (not a good look, - as if I didn't have big enough bags already!)
But on the good news front - I weighed myself this morning and I have lost half a stone in the last month, - hooray! - I am hoping this will stop the Fat Person Nurse being too cross with me when I see her next week.

topsyturner · 14/11/2012 11:34

Morning kk

Bet you rival me in the attractiveness stakes today ? Grin

KurriKurri · 14/11/2012 11:38

We could become 'alternative' models together topsy - I spy a niche market Grin

Copthallresident · 14/11/2012 11:39

KK FAT PERSON NURSE? I'll be having nightmares!!! I have a guilty secret, my treatment was private which actually I am not sure made much difference and meant I didn't get as much of the touchy feely stuff from BCNs etc., but probably a lot more time with my Consultant and his dreadful stats. However it was all worth it because they didn't dare send in the Fat Person Nurse!!! Consultant did look witheringly at me when I asked if there was anything to be done about the flap of skin at the back of my scar and said "Yes, not have any body fat to put in it" Blush Well done on the weight loss! and hope you feel up to yoga soon. I hate it when deprived of downward dog and actually walking the actual dog.

I am far too scared of the Fat Person Nurse to dare dole out chocolate though (please don't tell her about last night)

Copthallresident · 14/11/2012 11:45

MAS So I can add exfoliation of the hands! to the treatments at the Chemo Spa Sad I hope the BCN can help.

KurriKurri · 14/11/2012 11:50

She's not really a fat person nurse Copthall - but I am calling her that. She is really called 'Nurse Shirley'.
I'm having a free NHS health check, and I had to have a blood test last week. When she was taking my blood, I said ' is this test for cholesterol?' and she said 'yes cholesterol' then looked me up and down and said ' and lipids and all sorts of other FATS' in a very pointed way Grin
So I am very nervous of her now!

I've got to lose weight so I can have a breast reconstruction next year - have got about another stone to go.
My oncologist told me that when he wants to lose weight he eats caviar and strawberries instead of biscuits. (I bet he bloody does!) Grin

I love yoga too - makes me so relaxed, I started just after I finished my chemo and have been doing it for nearly 3 years now. I hate missing it, because I know if I'd made the effort, I would have benefited from it.
