Happy New Year All...

I thought I might try the Cabbage Soup diet this month (after reading about it here)... I went to the website given and found reference to the Negative Calorie Diet (which I've not heard of before) it sounds too good to be true...

Does anyone have experience of this diet?
Does anyone know if the book is currently available in the uk?

TIA

I don't really know much about it yet... apparently you can lose up to 14lbs in a week - which I think is a bit odd but I could do with a crash diet right now that actually works.

I'm pretty good about food normally... but it would be a kick start. I'm off to amazon to search for the book...

Isnt it bad to loose more than 3lbs a week??? You must get starving on it???

salt · 02/01/2004 10:33

It is bad yeah but I think the Cabbage SOup Diet basically has a detox element to it as it's only 1 week long

The Negative Calorie is (I think) based on eating foods that use more calories than they contain - I don't really know anymore than that.

I have done the cabbage one and lost 10lb in a week, its just sooooooo boring.
could probably do with it now tho'. May think about it for next week, but dp just lectures me on the benefits of a healthy and blanced diet everytime I start on about somehting like this - it's ok for him, he's lighter than me! (oh the shame!!)

hollybet · 02/01/2004 10:43

How can you read about the Negative Calorie one without forking out for it?

I did do the Carol VOderman a few years back and have not eaten meat since, also almost given up coffee - never drank tea anyway, shame I couldn't do it with the booze and bread and butter!

OP posts:
hollybet · 02/01/2004 11:21

Beety, just seen on another thread that you can eat fish on thdetox that you do, do you have a website for it?
suppose its too much to ask that you can have wine too?
pleeeese????

hollybet · 02/01/2004 11:23

Salt, you can get wheat free bread from tesco, but I always thought it tasted like you could sole your shoes with it and it was very expensive

sarah scrivner - I'd be interested to find out more about this detox.

I've not tried wheat free bread before - I normally just avoid bread.

I do the cabbage soup diet, Salt I was probably the one to suggest it. I have never managed to find details of the Negative Calorie Diet, only seen the info as you found. The CSD is really good in the fact that it is one week, and you usually lose around 5 - 7 lbs (I think 10lbs is a bit hopeful!).

I think it is really reasonally healthy as a detox, I usually use it to kick start another diet. But all you are eating is fruit, veg, soup and then meat (or chicken or fish), so there is no processed food at all. In fact I did this diet last Jan, and since then have never gone back to drinking diet coke (can't stand the additives) or milk in my tea! Beetroot I also 'enjoy' the detox occassionally, I feel fresher in just one weeek.

Melsy the one thing I find with this diet is that I don't get hungry as you can eat as much fruit or veg as you like and as much soup. I alway really spice it up with loads of chilli and herbs, so it is a kind of hot and sour soup. I have a huge thermos full (nearly 1 litre!) at lunch, a bowl when I get home from work and at least 2 more bowls of soup in the evening, as well as non-stop fruit/veg. I also try to drink 2 ltresof water. I might slosh around a bit, but I'm not hungry!!
