Just break it into little tasks where you can retreat to bedroom or sofa between them and ignore anything that isn't vital.

topsy Grin at chasing gm- I fear that he might not be that interested. But talking of orange men - this is an example of how French aren't the most stylish nation in the world too much orange and plastic surgery

MaryAnnSingleton · 17/10/2012 10:41

poor fab - I think little bits at a time are best- and as gig says, concentrate on breathing, following your breath in and out,try to remain in the present moment.
Must get on with lots of work today...hands feel sore which is pesky...feet a bit too. Bah !
Anything on the trolley of interest ? chiffon cake ?

topsyturner · 17/10/2012 11:01

Watch out for that plantar whatsit thingy Mas . I think that's a side effect of your chemo .

Gig WTAF was that ???
What have they done to that poor mans face ?

Fab we don't think you are bonkers !
at least not in comparison to the rest of us
Grin

Gigondas · 17/10/2012 11:05

That is Gallic heartthrob johnny hallyday. I tell you there are some treats in France for lovers of orange.

fab I know I have had some pretty crappy days where I could barely make it out of bed. I also know that ga sends me gaga .

We should have a drumroll as I have made it downstairs Grin.

No chiffon cake but I do have some Lindt stracciatella in the cupboard choclit

Gigondas · 17/10/2012 11:07

Oh and I can't remember if it was having his latest work done or fixing it but he ended up making himself quite poorly and was in hospital for a while. This of course is a national trauma in France.

While we are on all things French - my favourite ever French tv intervilles

smee · 17/10/2012 11:10

Fab, I second the breathing and one step at a time. A drive sounds like a good idea. xx

MAS, I know what you mean about the waking up thing. A bit of fresh air's as restorative as a snooze. Hope the hands are letting you draw. Smile

Ooh, orange French men. Gig's on form then. Grin

Nowt to say here. Boring woman working. Will heft a vat of coffee onto the fbt for anyone who wants to distract me. Smile

JustFabulous · 17/10/2012 11:39

My aim is to finish DS2's room and then take a drive to Hobbycraft.

topsyturner · 17/10/2012 11:41

I have (more or less) finished DDs room .
Painting done .
Carpet down .
Bed assembled and slept in for the first time last night .
New curtains up .

Just have to start moved all her crap stuff back in .
But I don't want to as it all looks so pretty and tidy right now !
Grin

Gigondas · 17/10/2012 11:54

Oh hobby craft EnvyEnvy

I would keep it like it is for as long as possible topsy

smee · 17/10/2012 12:11

Topsy, go through it all and strim line the crap into bin liners, then hide it. I'd bet DD won't even notice. I do that with DS. If he doesn't notice after a week or so it goes for good..

What is this Hobby Craft place?! Confused

Gigondas · 17/10/2012 12:24

smee is right- big gig hasn't said anything about the two Bin bags of tat I got rid of lately.

Hobby craft is an arts and craft shop/shop that sells a lot of tat we don't need (my definition and dh definition). hobbycraft

jchocchip · 17/10/2012 12:46

hello. Bit too eventful here, decided to cycle to work and ended up having an argument with a taxi pulling out of a side road - fortunately not too much damage done, very slow bump but he kept saying he didn't see me :( I believe him, it was dark at 7am but he should have looked harder. Did have lights and a bright yellow helmet - didn't have my hi vis jacket on and only a few reflective stripes on my jacket :( Going to have impressive bruises in a few days, oops.

OneWaySystemBlues · 17/10/2012 12:48

I have a recall for a mammogram and I am crapping myself. I am 44, had treatment for hodgkin's lymphoma when I was 21. The radiotherapy has left me with an increased risk of breast cancer and I've been having yearly mammograms for about 5 years now. I had one at the end of September and got a call back for next week, for another mammogram and an appointment with a surgeon Sad. I am so scared. I had a scare a few years ago, which thankfully turned out to be a papilloma, and that was bad enough. I know it could be nothing, but I know it's not a machine fault otherwise they wouldn't have given me an appointment with a surgeon too. Feeling really crappy here and got to get myself together by the time my kids get home.

Gigondas · 17/10/2012 12:56

jchoc poor you- glad it wasn't worse!

systems this must seem like a recurrent nightmare . However most breast issues aren't cancer. And if it is breast cancer there is a lot they can do (our stat queen will be here amber) .
But please vent away here- can you have a cup of tea and rest while you try to feel but less horrid. As you know waiting to find out what is going on particularly horrible.

MaryAnnSingleton · 17/10/2012 12:57

oneway welcome and am sorry you're facing a recall...I quite understand your anxiety and am sending lots of good vibes your way. It might possibly be that the mammo has shown dense tissue which needs a further looking at to check it's all ok. Stick around here for handholding and supplies of baked goods

jane yikes- very scary for you and hope you are ok and not too bruised- have you arnica ?
I have to say I am feeling incredibly tired and would love to go to sleep - have stopped for lunch, but might be an idea to to get some fresh air.

OP posts:
jchocchip · 17/10/2012 13:00

oh hi oneway its natural to imagine the worst, and leaving you hanging around for an appointment is cruel. Maybe if it was clear they wouldn't be giving you another mamo, and until they do a biopsy they don't know anyway. My mil had a recall last year and it was a benign lump. There are lots of possible explanations. Hang around here for hand holding and encouraging stats.

jchocchip · 17/10/2012 13:04

arnica a good idea mas have some at home. Just surface grazes at the moment, but think my knee especially will bruise :(

fresh air may wake you up a bit to do a bit more work this pm.

part of my idea of cycling in was to have an early start and get lots of work out of the way, didn't quite work like that as I've had a bit of a wobble and several cups of coffee and only one report done :(

JustFabulous · 17/10/2012 13:06

Back from Hobbycraft. Managed 2 minutes and had to leave. Still feeling very shaky and nauseous.

topsyturvy - I feel the same about DS2's room. Looks lovely. He had better leave it that way.

jchocchip - ouch. Are you okay? Take it easy for a few days.

OneWay - I am sorry you are having this worry. Hope all is well.

jchocchip · 17/10/2012 13:12

I'm ok, just a bit shaken and thinking "what if" and that I am very lucky not to have broken anything!

MaryAnnSingleton · 17/10/2012 13:14

take it easy now jane xxx

OP posts:
Gigondas · 17/10/2012 13:49

There is a very good arnica bath that Neals yard do and Weleda do some good arnica creams. I am not surprised you feel shaky.

Well done for making it out but am sorry was shortlived fab

Right going to try a hot oil pack to ease muscles before big gig gets home. Big gig is no great respecter of mum being ill Grin

Sometimesiwonder · 17/10/2012 14:14

Hi all.
I've been lurking for a few days as i haven't really had time to catch up and say anything meaningful, so left you to it Grin

But I just wanted to break cover briefly to offer hugs to Fab, Janechocchip and Oneway. All of you take it easy.xxx

Oneway - try not to deduce anything from the surgeon appt or anything else. Just stay here for a handhold and go along with an open mind, if you can. Remember that you've been being monitored pretty closely for some time now, so even if they have found anything nasty (and it really is IF) you are in a good position to have a good outcome. Stay strong.

Love to all I have ignored, you're still in my thoughts Wink xx

Gigondas · 17/10/2012 14:24

Hi sometimes

topsy or amber you been watching montalbano? What has happened to him!! The man can't keep his trousers on now Grin

KurriKurri · 17/10/2012 14:49

Just popping in quickly to say hello to all.

welcome OneWay - so sorry you have this worrying wait - but as others have said it is perfectly possible for it to be nothing to worry about. try not to think about the 'what if's' and just concentrate on keeping busy fro the next week until your appointment, Come on here for a chat whenever you feel like it - it helps when you write things down. As Sometimes says if it does turn out to be something nasty, the chances are that because you have been well monitored, it will be very early and easily treatable. xx

jchoc Shock - hope you are Ok lovely, must have been very scary - you will feel wobbly for a while, take it easy, keep warm and have sweet hot drink. Hope the bruising isn't too nasty Sad

Fab - we don't think you are bonkers, - I've certainly had those panicky days when you feel you can't do anything, and the GA will still be in your system. I find it helps if you just focus on little things rather than the big picture, - so 'I'll get myself a coffee' rather than 'I need to clean the house, or collect the kids' - then by the time you need to do the bigger stuff you might feel a bit less shaky.

Gig - sorry about the leg, it sounds painful. Would massage help? or some of those mineral bath soaks you can get? - hope it eases soon, GM has a lot to answer for Grin

MAS - I was thinking have they given you anything to rub into your hands and feet to ease the pain, I've had stuff called anegesel (I think) or ibuprofen type gel? - Not sure if they would be suitable bu they might ease things a bit.

SEnding a quick helo to everyone - amber, topsy smee and sometimes and anyone I've forgotten.

have to go and finish the awful book I'm reading for my bookclub tomorrow.

MaryAnnSingleton · 17/10/2012 15:05

which book is that kk ?
I was offered E45 by onc. but I have aqueous and various moisturising things here - my hands aren't peely yet, just feel a bit odd. I keep them moisturised anyway after years of obsessive handwashing I feel they need cherishing- amazingly they survived much mistreatment and am quite proud of them as they're fairly nice,as hands go. I shall be very upset if they get all raw and red.
Feeling not so hot today which is pesky as i have T's piano lesson followed by a meeting at school for his geog. trip to Italy and then supper at parents as aunt and various cousins are coming.
