I am 40 but was 38-39 when I had a previous mammogram.

I am all over the shop as I have to have tests for BC as well as endrometrial cancer so have 3 hospital appointments in the next 2 weeks. I know I am definitely having a biopsy taken when I have the EC related test (GA and then hysteroctomy(sp)and biopsy.)

smee · 06/10/2012 21:26

You have got a heck of a 2 weeks ahead, haven't you? Sad I don't know much about Endometrial cancer, but I suppose it makes sense to automatically biopsy. I had a Uterine cancer scare a few months ago and they did a biopsy for that. They said it was routine, as the lab is the only way to check the cells.

With the Breast Clinic, am guessing as you're only just 40, they might or might not give you a mammogram. It's something to do with the density of the breasts from memory. I was 44 when diagnosed so older than you!

JustFabulous · 06/10/2012 21:35

With regards to the EC I have had scans, a hysterocotomy and other internal tests and now further tests under GA so it is all a bit scary. The e wall is too thick apparently.

I think I had a mammogram last time as 2 doctors thought they could feel a lump.

smee · 06/10/2012 21:45

That's a lot to have to look forward to. When's the GA? Have you a date yet?

JustFabulous · 06/10/2012 21:47

This week pre op checks, next Monday is the GA.

MaryAnnSingleton · 06/10/2012 21:52

hugs for JustFab

Justfab, bugger that you have to wait another week. Sad Stick here and let us distract and hold hand. We do get how terrifying it all is. Makes a heck of a difference somehow.

MAS, ouch. That sounds horrid. Have you any cream for it yet? I see it says no warm baths. How annoying, though good (not sure that's the word!) it's feet not hands.

overthemill · 07/10/2012 18:10

morning all - or evening technically - where is everybody today? All recovering from yesterday's over indulgence? I am pooped - officially - and fed up cos hoped one less drug would mean i wouldn't be iyswim. and the horrid taste is back! anyway, hope all of you are as well as can be and hi to justfab, the waiting is horrible, i a sorry you have to go through it.

Gigondas · 07/10/2012 19:11

Assumed everyone having quiet Sunday- that is what I have been doing. It might take a while to work drugs out otm so will happen I am sure.

justfab hope you are doing better today.

MaryAnnSingleton · 07/10/2012 19:26

good evening- have just been pottering about really today.
Very happy to have felt good all day, except that now feeling a bit off-might be because I'm hungry Smile
Sorry to hear that you're tired otm

Hello everyone

Another tough day. Not coping with the kids and issues with DH and I. Sat here in my dressing gown trying to ignore the pulling feeling I have in my breast.

So so tired too.

invicta · 07/10/2012 21:48

Justfab - just wishing you all the best or the next few days. Cancer can affect you in different ways. I put on weight, and didn't realise I was more niggly until dh mentioned it. I think until you have a diagnosis, it's always at the back of your mind, and subconsciously affects your behaviour. Cyber hugs to you. If its any help, the NHS is superb for bc ( I haven't had experience of other cancers).

MaryAnnSingleton · 07/10/2012 22:52

hang in there JustFab - thinking of you x
How are the rads going invicta ?
Am going to dentist tomorrow for check up- a non- invasive one as the recptionist wrote that I was having chemotherapy on my card- feel a bit self conscious about it really. Afterwards am off to have coffee with the poetry editor at Macmillan who commissioned the new book I'm doing- she's working from home and it's about half an hour's drive from my house.

OP posts:
smee · 07/10/2012 23:28

So very hard waiting, JustFab. Definitely stick here. We can't change things, but at least we know how tough it is. xx

MAS, I remember stressing about the dentist knowing I was having chemo, but it was fine. I think they're used to it. Hope they're gentle. Smile

Off to a three day conference tomorrow. Am hoping the biscuits will be good. Will try and nip by if I can get wifi to work. Wishing everyone a good few days if I don't manage it. Smile

JustFabulous · 08/10/2012 07:07

Thank you.

I hope everyone has a good day today. I have to do battle with Vodafone, do a washing mountain and clean up FABCat's wee. Also need to nip to Asda as the kids have used up all their shower gels and shampoos but didn't think to tell me when we were out at the shops yesterday.

MaryAnnSingleton · 08/10/2012 07:46

take care smee and hope it goes well at conference- and that the biccies are good !

overthemill · 08/10/2012 07:59

oh mas how Envy am I of you 'am off to have coffee with the poetry editor at Macmillan who commissioned the new book I'm doing' ,i got to go as far as the shed today...but i am delighted for you really Grin am living vicariously through you!

graciesmall09 · 08/10/2012 11:40

Waves and good wishes to all.

How is the skin holding out invicta? Sorry I forgot how many rads you are having. Today was my 6th out of 25. Skin holding up so far except I smell like a large tub of Diprobase Grin.

justfab My boys must be like your children unless I physically check their bathroom for shower gel I never know when it is going to run out. Sometimes I wonder do they actually ever use gel as it always seems to 'have just run out'. Hope you are feeling ok today.

mas very impressed about your new book. Hope your meeting goes well.

Hope the conference goes well smee. Hopefully there will be more than plain old biscuits on offer Grin.

otm I agree with gigs the drugs take a while to come out of your system but hopefully you will start to feel better soon.

Waves to gigs, amber, topsy, jchoc. kurri, sometimes and sparkle and anyone else who is lurking.

overthemill · 08/10/2012 11:52

gracie so you think that i may begin to feel the good effects of having one less nasty chemo drug (now on 3 rather than 4)? Ooh, that would be so good

Gigondas · 08/10/2012 13:08

Offers some flakes for fbs trolley- then goes back to iplayer watching in bed Wink

graciesmall09 · 08/10/2012 13:30

otm my thinking is that whilst you will still have side effects you shouldn't have the side effects associated with the drug you dropped but it may take a week or two before you notice the difference.

Envy iplayer in bed gigs. I have just finished an Everest sized load of ironing and having a quick 'Come Dine with Me' episode before I head off on the school run and DD dancing.

Need to order another sick line today. DH wants me to get another 12 weeks but I don't want work to think I'm milking it. Will have to have a think about it.

MaryAnnSingleton · 08/10/2012 14:25

adds some caramel shortcake bites to the trolley...
meeting was good- not really to talk about the book, though we discussed it a bit, it was more a nice social cup of coffee and her home made carrot cake and croissants- yum. And she sent me home with Carol Ann duffy's new anthology of poems for children and jars of quince jelly, cherry jam, chilli jam and green tomato chutney - ds will be very excited as he adores things like that- will have to stop him eating from the jars...
Glad rads are going ok gracie - soon be finished, you'll see Smile

Sometimesiwonder · 08/10/2012 14:34

Ooh I'm glad to see that some of you are having nice, relaxing days with treats. Smile

But gracie, quit with the ironing, or I'll have to do some Hmm

In a frankly staggering development earlier a Mum at the school told me this morning that I looked 'absolutely stunning' one day last week (I'd had a meeting so traded my usually trackie bottoms and no make-up for a dress, heels and full slap). Made my day! mind you she is a bit barking

KurriKurri · 08/10/2012 14:45

That sounds like a lovely morning MAS, - my DS would love all those jams and chutneys too Grin

OTM - going to the shed is good, it's better than not going anywhere Smile

Smee- have fun living it up at your conference, - hope the biscuits are good, -can you sneak some back in your bag for the trolley?

gracie - I don't think your work would think you are milking it, if you don't feel ready yet. It can take quite a while to get over all the treatment, and sometimes the fatiguing effects of rads can kick in a few weeks after you've finished.

JustFab - sorry you had a tough day yesterday Sad - I think sometimes weekends are the worst when you are waiting, - there seems to be more opportunity to sit and think, whereas you can keep busier during the week. Hang on in there, we'll all be here for you Smile

Gig - enjoy your iplayering (and flakes Grin)

waving to everyone I've missed.

To add to my list of bonkersness, - I lost my coat while I was out this morning. Suddenly realised I didn't have it and had to retrace my steps. I found it in the library, on the floor where I'd been looking at a shelf. DH is saying maybe it is my thyroid not quite right again, - I do seem to be forgetting so many things atm. But I had a test in June IIRC, and GP always seems reluctant to redo it before I'm due the next one.
