MAS, what did they say about docetaxel?

MaryAnnSingleton · 19/09/2012 07:33

Grin @ pink shirts topsy - kk is right, there's a Vanish sheet thing which you can stick in the machine- I think, or maybe that's in case washing leaks colour ?
amber I know that docetacel is given with capecitabine, but am thinking they're holding off in case it's enough- they seem to be easing me in - though if there is other spread maybe ?
Am being silly about the yogurt thing but I suppose it's a comfort food for me (along with cake of course)
Tell me about grapefruit -that interacts doesn't it ? (we have it often) but I'm guessing that it might make mouth sore anyway.

amberlight · 19/09/2012 07:52

Normally they give docetaxel after Capecitabine rather than alongside it. Studies show that there's not a jot of difference in the effectiveness either way, but it's less hassle for the patient. So if the first one doesn't impress the cancer, the second one will.

topsyturner · 19/09/2012 08:16

Mas when do you get the results of your abdo and pelvis CT ?

DD is eating a cheese string (yet another good mother moment Grin ) and pig/dog is glued to the floor infront of her , praying that she either drops it or saves him some !

Anyone with appointments today ?

jchocchip · 19/09/2012 08:33

dylon colour run remover, or (for whites only) if all else fails soak in a milton solution or dilute bleach!!

I should be at work but login has failed so waiting for IT support to ring me...

Gigondas · 19/09/2012 08:52

Another vote for Dylon - it works quite well on plain stuff like shirts (didn't tend to shift dye on thicker fabric like bra straps when have had disaster here).

mas you may find grapefruit too acidic - I love grapefruit, bitter orange and spicy food but have found not only have my tastes changed a bit but while I am on steroids I need to take Care cos of indigestion (have tablets and it's a known side effect). So have got obsessed with cheese, tomatoes, roasted pepper and other things.

Nits seem to have been dealt with (the grim aftermath on bed sheets now being washed). And only one waking with mini gig at 2 (she seems a lot better) so hoping she is better. Am going to take it easy as going into my flat period plus have a supermarket delivery to cook with later. Am thinking of making mincemeat and picalilli for Xmas this week (I loathe picalilli but my dad loves it).

Good luck today otm with chemo. Hope computer gets sorted quickly jchoc.

topsy are cheese strings worse than cheese shaped feet we have in fridge for big gig?

OP posts:
topsyturner · 19/09/2012 08:52

Have tried the dye removers before and they have never worked for me .
And did the bleach thing yesterday , again with no success .
Just have to bite the bullet and buy new ones !

MaryAnnSingleton · 19/09/2012 08:53

ah,thanks amber
Not sure whether scan results would be ready by Friday ?
Grin @ cheesestrings - I used to quite like those...

topsyturner · 19/09/2012 08:54

Cheese shaped feet ???
My mind is boggling !

Gigondas · 19/09/2012 08:57

You have to be quite quick on dye thing.

Sainsburys are purveyors of cheese feetGrin.

Usually if I have a scan on Friday then by following Tuesday onc will have looked but I know they have it on computer and she is quite particular about looking quickly.

What else can you buy when you are out topsy

OP posts:
topsyturner · 19/09/2012 08:57

It's worth asking Mas .
These things are digital , and there's no reason why they can't be read straight away !

Also whilst on chemo , I actually craved spicey food . Mexican in particular .
But then I'm a well known weirdo who doesn't do any cancer related things in the normal way Grin

Gigondas · 19/09/2012 08:57

Grin at weird topsy - I still want spicy food but daren't eat it after dalliance with Thai stir fry early on.

OP posts:
topsyturner · 19/09/2012 08:59

Broccoli piccalilli ???
Actually quite like the sound of that .
BTW - where's my choklit cake ?

topsyturner · 19/09/2012 09:00

Aah , you have experienced Chemo Butt I presume ?

Gigondas · 19/09/2012 09:00

And joy - someone has revived the Mn classic thread pirate noises During sex classic

OP posts:
Gigondas · 19/09/2012 09:01

It's here- and it is made with olive oil (still lush) so I think dr amber would order extra portions for health reasons.

OP posts:
Gigondas · 19/09/2012 09:02

Yep chemo butt and chemo indigestion- both lovely Wink

OP posts:
topsyturner · 19/09/2012 09:10

Olive oil ?
That's positively health food !

Gigondas · 19/09/2012 09:22

I know but works well in cake - it is so nice would be a crime not to have more Grin

OP posts:
smee · 19/09/2012 09:39

I ate curry on chemo, MAS. Not sure why, but spicy food was great. I used to make a red lentil and coriander dahl and eat buckets of it.

Morning all. How is everyone today?? Freezing here and am having a sofa dilemma. Our new one arrived, so DH lumped the old one up to my little work room, which doubles as our spare room and we were about to give the old futon to a friend. The friend who stayed last night though told me that the old futon was way more comfy than the v.squishy sofa bed. I think DH might kill me if I say I want the futon back. Grin

Sometimesiwonder · 19/09/2012 10:02

ooh, I foresee a row.....

But tell us about the new sofa, I love soft furnishings

MAS - Tastewise I would say eat and drink anything you fancy, everyone reacts differently (I'm talking about things that aren't on the forbidden list, you really should avoid those Sad ). It's a bit like being pregnant - the tastebuds alter and you can't stand some things, but crave others. My cravings were salad and red wine Confused But it's all good. Have what you bloody well want.

As regards grapefruit - i thought the advice there was against taking it with tamoxifen, which you are no longer having. And even then, I found out through Dr Kurri, as the hospital never said. so I'm not sure it's up there with the big must-nots. So I'd say if you want it and fancy it, flipping have it (maybe after a quick word with the lovely nurse).

And now I shall elbow my way to the cake, grab a slice and bugger off to work. xx

Gigondas · 19/09/2012 10:08

You are making me all want curry.

Have tidied my fridge, freezer and cupboard in preparation for cooking later (I cannot tell you how unlike me this is Wink).

SparkleRainbow · 19/09/2012 10:15

topsyturner · 19/09/2012 10:17
