Am slowly cooking another choclit cake for fbs but may need a Brew - mini gig on the other hand is alarmingly perky.

I never have the slightest foggiest clue who's who on FB apart from Smee and MAS so I'm none the wiser Blush Grin

topsyturner · 18/09/2012 17:00

Well I knew 12 of the forgotten heart throbs Blush

Mas hope getting a plan together goes smoothly today . Is your BC nurse going to be there ?

Have spent the afternoon watching Jane Eyre . Sadly paused now as I have to feed children and check homework etc !
Sigh ... Grin

SparkleRainbow · 18/09/2012 17:31

Topsy Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 18/09/2012 17:38

back again ! Just saw chemo nurse who gave me a ton of literature and talked me through it all- and gave me another blood test- am getting quite blase about them now :-) I must buy mouth wash, soft toothbrush and thermometer- I have a free car park ticket too. Will go on Friday to see onc. and he'll give me the tablets then I can start on Friday or Saturday. 2 weeks on and one off, then blood test, see onc. and start again... Am quite distressed that I can't have bio yogurt,as I'm really obsessed with Yeo Valley plain stuff - I eat gallons.
Saw that they'd underlined 'palliative' as my treatment which is a bit irksome.
I have the Jo Shapcott book, though haven't read it yet... the TS Eliot quote is lovely kk - I have felt extreme happiness at times, more acutely than before- weird isn't it.
Hope minigig isn't too snuffly.
Cruise will be ace amber !!!
Dad prinyted out something a friend had sent about lemons curing cancer - have recycled it.

SparkleRainbow · 18/09/2012 17:44

MAS - if I put virtual bio yogurt on the fbs trolley for you, would that help, or just act to remind you of what you are missing out on?

Glad the blood test went ok, you are an old hand now! Well done for getting through it. Big hugs xx

Sometimesiwonder · 18/09/2012 17:54

Welcome back, MAS!

It's good to have a plan in place, and a start date this week - and even the free parking has its upside. is the unit near any decent shops?

Soft toothbrush and mouthwash are an absolute must. And don't forget the advice on ginger and pineapple - both serious weapons in the battle stave off SEs in the tummy and mouth. x

KurriKurri · 18/09/2012 18:03

Ignore 'palliative' MAS - why do they put these things where you can see them? If they didn't have faith that your treatment will do some good, they wouldn't give it to you.
Do you take your tablets at the hospital and then wait there for a bit before you go home? - I don't know the procedure for tablet chemo, but avoiding the needles is a great thing to do Smile

arf@lemons - recycle bin the only place for that!

ginger lemon and peppermint teas in rotation can help with sickness and nausea though.

cuddle for snuffly mini Gig
Envy to amber for cruise - you will have a fab time Smile

Gigondas · 18/09/2012 18:24

We also have had an infestation of nits so it's kid illness tastic - Hmm at how obsessed dh getting at delousing. Luckily I am ok given current hair situation .Grin

mas- The palliative thing is exactly what gets me in wording but (can you see I am feeling braver) isnt insulin or ventolin palliative.

Lemon honey and ginger as pick me up plus aloe Vera (Juice and mouth wash) is good.

I am offering chocolate cake from new nigella book and it's made with olive oil so must pass as a healthy thing. Also tomatoo cheese tart for those that don't want sweet.

Gbbu and might even sneak a wine later as have parents evening in a sec (if I can drag dh from the nit porn).

Sometimesiwonder · 18/09/2012 18:29

Wise words from KK and Gig both.

Would it be wrong to have the tart and then the cake too, given that both contain fruit and veg of a sort? yes, I am on a fast day again today

Head lice Shock How well I remember it. Luckily for me, our worst period for the blighters was when I was hairless too.

jchocchip · 18/09/2012 18:43

Lemons cure cancer? I can recommend Delia's lemon surprise pudding...

Do we know why no bio yoghurt? Does it interact with the tablets?

Well done for getting that over with, mas ((hugs))

Didn't have a good day at work, not surprisingly we are all a bit down, funeral announced by email as next Monday.

MaryAnnSingleton · 18/09/2012 19:11

Sad jane
Bio yog has bugs,so a no no- I bloody love it though. And boiled water to drink- am feeling quite stressed by having to think of all these things !
I do love green tea with mint so that will be something nice.
I take the tablets at home- after breakfast and after supper- on a full stomach anyway.
Which plain yogurt wouldn't have live bacteria in it ?

jchocchip · 18/09/2012 19:30

hmmm a quick google shows that most have bugs, but some have nominal levels you may be able to find a good fromage frais that is culture free.

amberlight · 18/09/2012 20:00

MAS, what tablets are they?

Gigondas · 18/09/2012 20:12

Was about to suggest fromage frais - loathe yoghurt myself so it's my treat of choice

OP posts:
jchocchip · 18/09/2012 20:16

On a further google, "any yoghurt labelled long-life or UHT has been heat treated after manufacture to give a long shelf-life and stability at room temperature. But the process kills the friendly bacteria, so the yoghurt is no longer 'live.'" from the daily fail no less! You may prefer fromage frais to uht yoghurt though...

topsyturner · 18/09/2012 21:23

Feck
Slipped and fell and drank the left over wine .
Now need drunk food again .
Is it bad if I raid DDs piggy bank for money for a Chinese take away ?

topsyturner · 18/09/2012 21:24

Always happy to lower the tone Grin

Gigondas · 18/09/2012 21:29

I think it's the right thing to do. it's all glamour here in the house of nit and sick- dh treating himself , I am laughing as i can be fairly sure I am nit free.

OP posts:
MaryAnnSingleton · 18/09/2012 21:48

capecitabine amber
Thing is, I just really like that particular yog so am sad I can't have it and any other substitute isn't going to be the same, though I like fromage frais...oh well.

topsyturner · 18/09/2012 21:53

Nice Gigs
Your house is all Rock and Roll isn't it ?
I am still a baldy git too , so def a nit free zone here !

Found some chicken goujons in the freezer that I have flung in the oven .
Saves me the shame of paying for a take away from DCs piggy bank .

Anyone else got an arsey DH tonight ?

topsyturner · 18/09/2012 21:57

Mas I'm very into Rachel's Greek yoghurt with honey at the mo , so I feel your pain !
Maybe Waitrose might have a substitute ?
On their bakery counter perhaps ?

Ignore this palliative shite !
They also had it stamped in luminous lettering written on my file .

topsyturner · 18/09/2012 22:00

Oh and I win crap mother of the day ,
Have managed to dye all DDs and DSs school shirts pink today .
Scooped up the whites to shove in the machine , and grabbed one of DDs bright pink chaps (from horse riding) with it .
Cue emergency trip to M&S this evening for new shirts .
Sigh ... Grin

KurriKurri · 18/09/2012 22:41

topsy you can get some stuff that rescues whites that have got dyed in the wash - can't remember what its called, but I know it exists (no good for tomorrow but you'll be able to save the shirts that have been dyed)

I haven't forgotten the books I promised - just can't get into the room where they are stored at the moment as DH has filled it with plaster board and other gubbins, and the books are right at the far end of the room. Will brave scaling the mountain of rubbish tomorrow Grin

OneInEight · 19/09/2012 06:45

Good morning all. Ned, thank you so much for that recommendation for ds2 - he has chosen one and said he is willing to give it a go. Gig - that was a great idea too - will try it when I get him something tactile to use as well. Think the one advantage of hair loss is the absence of nits! - they always seem to be circulating around ds2's class. Sorry about your wobble - my Dad copes by just knowing one step ahead and ignores anything else after that. MAS can't think of a yoghurt substitute but given how your taste changes with chemo it is worth trying different things. Topsy and Jane - congrats on clear results. Hope everyone has a good day.
